The shadow snapped under the door catching Ryoku. "it seems that statement is even more correct than you know." Hotomi walked to the door opening it to reveil Ryoku mimmicing him. He leaned down and whispered to the boy "if you are going to spy on someone, make sure they dont have spies themselves." A wolf's head appeared sticking out of one of the shadowy corners of the room where Ryoku previously sat. "now that we have a visitor he can at least bear witness to this." he sighed releasing the boy from his shadow but grabbing him by the back of the neck "I Fear the thunder alliance would do anything to sway you, even if it means a full on invasion. As you know..." he sqeezed the boy's neck tightly "i wouldnt be able to do anything if they did invade you, it would not be my place to start a war over a neutral territory. But... if i stationed a few ... you decide the ammount ... of my ANBU here, if the Thunder alliance did attack, then it would be considered an act of war against the fire alliance, and we would be free to give you millitary support." He leaned in a little next to the boys ear "regardless of her answer, you will not repeat a word of this to anyone... right?"

Hitomi smiled "i do enjoy the old tricks." he sighed "anyways, i am merely asking that you think about this. After all, none of us know what the cloud's new leader is like." he turned to Ryoku "and if i were trying to intimidate anyone i would not have come here alone .. .would i?" His words seemed a little threatening as several pairs of eyes appeared along the shadows on the wall. "but alas, i am only here for diplomatic reasons"

he smiled at the comment as he stepped closer to her "would you be willing to go to war, to have your people die for the ambitions of one man, a man that isnt even one of your own people?" he asked staring the woman right in her eyes " if i have to beg for power for the safety of my village and our allies then so be it." His normally calm nature was starting to wear thin, showing a slight annoyance at the Sanin.

"you are ignorant to think i am speaking of orochimaru. I am talking about the new leader of cloud." he saw that he was getting to her " if he called on your people to fight would you? sacrifice your people" he leaned in a little and whispered "and they would be taken as easily as a sacrifice. all for the honor of one man and his alliance?"

Ame had been watching with a mixture of shock, bemusement, and rage. But always, her features were as smooth as stone. She mulled over the situation, and came to a solid conclusion. Now seemed like the perfect opportunity to make some effort towards peace. "Now, now, guests shouldn't quibble in front of their host. It is deeply impolite. Now sit, both of you." She gestured toward the chairs which had been abandoned in their heated debate. She faced the two highly acclaimed ninja in front of her. "I shall listen patiently while first the Hokage, then... ah, I am afraid I did not catch your name."

Ryoku bowed graciously to her host, taking her eyes off of the Hokage. "i am Mayumi Ryoku, of the Hidden Grass," she said effortlessly to her host. With a too sweet voice, she spoke to the Hokage. "Are you sure you don't want to stay and hear what I have to offer?" She hoped he would decline. She walked forward into the Tsuchikage's office and gladly took a seat.

"Well, then I won't keep you," she said blatantly. "I've come to renew old ties, but again, I will mention that I am not here to ask Stone to join the Thunder Alliance, and you may take my word or leave it, but that is the truth."
