Joseph finally regained control of himself and took the moment to reacquaint with his surroundings. Something moonlike was protecting him from the direct sunlight. Weird, not something he was predicting, but neither had been the sunrise. Fine.
Introductions were taking place between two more locals, and his mark was absconding on foot. In his frenzy, he had impressively damaged Astrid, but this was by no means the first time. Oh well, he'd have to proceed by wheel until sundown.
He leapt into the driver's seat and the convertible roof snapped shut over the top of the car. He disengaged the handbrake and peeled out again, grabbing on gun that was lying on the ground as he drove past it (the other was out of range and he planned to come back for it when he could leave the car). Right now, he was content to run over Marvin and keep him pinned with the vehicle until he could arrest him properly, and this is exactly what he attempted to do.

Zen spun to face the newcomer, and delighted in the fact that he [the newcomer] hadn't approached with deadly speed, and that he seemed fairly normal. Normal meaning, not from the future, be it past-less or not, and not controlling a death machine.
"I'm Zen, nice to meet you. "
Zen offered up his hand for manly embrace.
"All I can really tell you is that the guy walking off right now, he's Marvin. The poor guy in the silver death-machine, he's after Marvin. Why, I do not know. And finally, the guy in the car is pained by sunlight."

Elynas took the handshake, relieved that someone could shed at least some light on the scenario. "Ehem," the dragon behind him interjected.
"Oh, and this is Gwee, and that is Mochi." He gestured to the little dragon and the puppy in succession.
"Hiya!" The dragon yelped exitedly, as Mochi too barked his introduction.
Elynas watched the man in the machine prepare to make his exit and added curiously "Should we be following him?"

"I would not think so. If his target is Marvin, as I believe it to be, he shouldn't be going too far."
Zen shifted his gaze from Gwee to Mochi and back.
"I assume when you said "we stumbled into" you meant yourself and these two?"
As the man recovered himself, and the vehicle peeled out, Hermestra shifted once again from her moon form to her preferred form, that of a hare. She floated lazily towards Zen.

Elynas nodded his understanding that following the two wasn't a big worry. Making a quick glance at his two companions at Zen's mention, he quickly answered, "Er, yeah, when you travel with these two as much as I you're never not a 'we'."
Mochi barked his agreement. Noting the machine's peel-out Elyndas once again questioned Zen "So, I take it we should just wait for them to return?"

"Nope, we wait for them to stop. Then we catch up, and wait for a conclusion. This is far too intriguing to give up now."
Intriguing was an understatement. This was out of this world and time. Hermestra nudged him.
"Oh, right. This is my companion... of sorts. Her name is Hermestra."

Marvin waited for the alarm he set in l'Encyclopediae to go off, so that he could proceed to bust o'Connors facing backwards without looking. As his perplexing persuer threw his car into reverse, Marvin fell into a stance that looked like a more martial baseball batting position. He swung his flamingo at the perfect moment, its beak connecting with the rear of the frame.
The car kept coming, leaving Marvin with a very concerned expression as it leveled him, bouncing his head off of the dirt trailand leaving him directly underneath it.
When it became clear that he wasn't yet crushed to death, his voice could be heard, dazedly proclaiming, "OH! It doesn't HOOVER."

**And thus life set into a nice rhythm. Marvin and his pursuer tossed back and forth a witty comment every so often, while Zen and Elynas continued their conversation, talking about each other, their companions, and their travels. The two became quite well acquainted, whereas Marvin and his assailant got nowhere. The driver of the death machine, for whatever reason, refused to interact with, what he referred to Marvin as, the "perp," until the sun hid it's pretty little head.**
**Many, many hours later, the sun dropped below the horizon, as Zen and Elynas were returning from town, having just eaten a wonderful dinner.**

Marvin was laying under the Astley, reading diligently from the book as a wheel slowly crushed his ribcage.
"Hey," he said to Zen, not looking up, "It's pretty great that you left me under a car for more than seven hours and thirteen minutes. Seriously. I really appreciate it. But if you want to help me out of here, you know, that's pretty great, too."

Zen turned from Elynas.
"Look Marvin, I like you and all, but for one, that thing almost killed me, and two, I know nothing about you, and if this man was hunting you, I don't want to get in trouble for being with you."
Zen shrugged and sat down. "Sorry."

Marvin folded his arms-- or arm, since he only had one free-- and turned his cheek on Zen.

Zen sat down and began to munch on a loaf of bread he had bought in town.

"Death threats now? Well then, if this conversation has dwindled down to violence then I no longer wish to be a part if it."
Zen lay back from his sitting position and began to stare at the stars, trying to pick out the constellations, naming them out loud whenever he found one.
