He smiled when he saw that she was ok now. He didn't want to loose the only friend he had already. "Good then." he said with a huge grin, which faded as the wind conveniently blew through his fur and the sky grew dark. "I don't know." he looked over to the water, still hearing the screeching roar echo through his brain.
"I don't like it" he said as he stood. He swore he could still hear it before he realized that it wasn't his brain, but rather the beast was still roaring in fury.

She smiled back at him, glad that she'd made another friend and that he was so sweet. Her smile faded as his did, "What's wrong?" she asked, thinking the faint howling she seemed to hear was just the wind blowing. The light started to fade and Violet inched closer to him, fearing the coming dark and the noise she now recognized as the beast below.
"Me either, let's get out of here, okay? Please?" she said, whining a little as she looked up at him.

He nodded in agreement, turning on his heels, looking to her before making a mad dash. "Let's go then!" he said with a bit of panic lacing his words. If they were eager to leave, then he wasn't going to argue.
"But where to? The shop? or somewhere else?" he asked quickly. It wasn't like him to run without direction, so in his mind, it was important to ask

Violet was not far behind him as he dashed off. "Um, I don't..." she started, trying to picture where they could go. "N-not the shop..." if the beast was after them, she wouldn't want to endanger anyone else who might be there. "Cave. There's a cave, not too far from the shop! It should be safe...right?" she asked, unsure.

Dipping and dodging over rocks, bushes, and tree limbs, he was trying to think of something as well, until she mentioned cave. "A cave? Well..It might be a good place to hide. How far?" he inquired, slowing his pace down a little to think and talk at the same time..a dangerous way to multitask at high rates of speed

"Not far, follow me." She said, knowing that she couldn't afford the distraction of talking while she ran. Too many times she'd tripped over random roots while she wasn't paying attention, and that was when lives weren't in the balance. At least it felt like they were in the balance. She didn't know what that thing in the cave below the water was, but she knew she didn't want to face it ever again.
Putting on a burst of speed, she took the lead and passed right by the shop, keeping an eye out for the dip in the rock face that denoted the cave. She very nearly passed it. Skidding on her back paws, she scrabbled with her front ones to make the sharp turn into the nearly invisible opening. "Here, here!" she called back as she turned. The near blackness of the cave frightened her, but knowing that Lavitz was behind her, it didn't seem so bad now.

Watching her bolt ahead, he picked up his pace ever so carefully. He was far enough to be able to react to her turns, but close enough to see her. It was tricky, but he managed somehow.
Suddenly, he watched her make a hard left, with of course lots of skidding, but he followed without trouble, soon engulfed by the darkness. As soon as he couldn't see, he stopped dead. "Where are you?" his voice echoed

"Right here," she said softly, not far from him. Her fear of the dark refused to allow her to go too far into the cave. She'd never even been this far in; had only stuck her nose in once or twice before when small animals or insects she'd been chasing had come in to hide from her. It had worked, she'd never gone in to chase them.
She whined softly, getting nervous in the darkness, but it was better than out in the open where the beast might get them.

Looking around trying to figure out where that came from, he eventually bumped into something that felt furry. "Ow...Was that you?" he said rubbing what he thought was his nose...at least it felt like it

"Eep!" she squeaked a little nervously when she felt him bump her. "Yeah, that's me," she said, blushing a bit though he couldn't see her. She paused for a moment before wondering, "Think it's still out here?" her voice wavered lightly as she spoke, afraid to even go out to look to see for herself.

he chuckled sheepishly and moved away from her, afraid to know where his face bumped into on her. "Hehe..sorry" he finally said as he felt his eyes futily try to adjust to the dark, to no avail.
"I don't know. Maybe we should check?" he wondered out loud as he looked back towards the faint glimmer of light ahead where the entrance was. "Stay here" he said with courage filling his voice as he crept forward towards the light, and poked his head out of the cave, half expecting some monster to be waiting for him, but to his good fortune, the only thing that passed by was a rabbit. He laughed a bit and looked back in the cave. "I don't see anything...it should be safe" he beckoned

"Be careful," she murmured as he left her to check. It was all she could do not to follow, her paws dancing nervously on the dusty cave floor. A few moments later, she heard him laugh and that he didn't see anything.
She let out a breath she hadn't known she'd been holding and bounded forward, toward Lavitz and the light. "I wonder what that thing was...and what it wanted!" she said as she came up to him, the air from outside clear and cold, and it felt good in her lungs.

He shook his head. "I have no idea...maybe it wanted to eat our brains" he said as he made a scary face then chuckled a bit.
"Well...Now what do we do? We can't go by the brook again...unless we want to see that thing again" he said with a bit of a shudder and a distant glance to the forest

Without warning, Violet flung her forelegs around his neck, squealing happily. "You were so brave and I was so scared and I never woulda made it outta there if you hadn't been there!" she babbled happily, giggling lightly as she felt so much better now that the monster was nowhere in sight. She continued to babble in her way for a few minutes, happy that their brains were not, in fact, eaten.

Lavitz couldn't help but feel a bit taken aback by the sudden gesture and even blushed lightly at the comment. "Er...well..it was nothing really" he said through a nervous smile. He didn't really think it was at all brave....he just thought it was stupidly reckless....little did he know that's what bravery was
