Kishi had managed to find his way up from one of the city's lower platforms though he had to admit that he never thought that he would survive climbing up a hundred feet long rope ladder. His arms were still sore and he was still out of breath from the effort so he decided to find a quiet spot to sit down and rest.

He had just started breathing normally when he heard furtive footsteps coming from behind him. He pretended not to notice and stretched leisurely. That was a mistake, however and before he knew it, he found himself knocked out by a heavy stone that had been smashed against his skull.

Light magic is the only kind that can dispel it and to do so, it must be a spell that uses twice the amount of MP that this spell used to be casted (so 20MP)
Something needs to be done about how one can escape the cloud. Roll with Dodge rate? Spend stamina?

Inflicts "Trapped" status (Unable to dodge any attack, but still able to buff/block.)

When Kishi awoke, he had been brought to a small hut made completely out of bamboo shoots. Blinking, he tried to observe his surroundings, but found it a rather hard task as even the slightest movement would give him a massive headache.

"Don't move," came a raspy voice somewhere above his head and he tried to tilt his head to identify its source only to have wrinkled paws seize his head to prevent him from doing so. "I could snap your neck if I so much as wish for it so behave."

"Um," Kishi started, ready to let his mouth run, but miraculously managed to stop himself. Antagonizing his savior was a horrible idea...

He didn't really care about money, but that book was important to him as it contained spells his tribe had been passing along for generations. Of course, he was at fault for having stolen it in the first place, but it wasn't as though it was that much of a crime since most of his people were not skilled enough to learn them...Not to mention their backwater methods seriously dampened their potential.

"No, that will be fine."

There was a moment of curious silence during which Kishi finally managed to get a look at his rescuer through the reflection of one of the ornaments hanging from the hut's ceiling. Although his savior had taken every precaution to wrapped itself up in tattered fabric, Kishi could still tell that he was not a nicatal. The old--Kishi could only assume due to the raspy voice-- being had horns and dark skin, skin and was completely hairless.

Unless balding was something possible amongst nicatals, his savior was not from the area.

"You know, walking around with so much money is a bad idea. You should leave some in a safer area," the old creature chided.

"And where would that be?" Kishi asked, as he slowly attempted to get up now that the creature had let go of his head. "I'm not from around here. Who can I trust?"

"Have you tried my item shop?" the old thing grinned, showing ominous pearly white fangs.

Kishi then proceeded to be almost bridal carried into the front of the hut he had been staying.

"This, is my shop. I sell all sorts of items. It is the first of its kind here in Usank and I have yet to officially open so you may as well be my first client," the old, but surprisingly strong creature explained proudly, arms wide as though an orchestra conductor.

It was actually a tiny shop with a few shelves and cabinets behind a counter where expensive items were stored and only a few more shelves open for public browsing, but what caught Kishi's eye was a glowing crystal.

"What is...this?" Kishi asked as he looked at the creatures in his hand and the mirror that had shot out of the crystal ball and almost given him another concussion by flying straight at him. The koroki had managed to catch it, although the movement had made the whole room spin.

"That? Oh, those are daemons," the old jumi said, happy to have someone to talk to for once. "You can store your mana in there and absorb it back later on. But unlike summons, once killed, they cannot be brought back to life."

Kishi frowned. 2 other creatures that will be tagging along with him. One would think that he was someone that would pick up strays...But if they could store mana...that could be useful. Focusing his magic onto the palm of his hand, he directed it towards one of the creature that let out a happy yapping sound.

"Oh."

Kishi was suddenly reminded of his guardian spirit. "I'll be right back, here, I'd like to deposit 85 coins. You better not vanish with them because, trust me, I will find you with a head injury or not!"

With that, he stumbled out of the shop from the front door despite the old jumi's disappointed look and tried to contact his spirit through their link. It was too far away, but he at least could feel the general direction of its location. His progress through the city was slow as he could not run out of fear of worsening his headache. Looking back, he should have bought a potion or two...

He couldn't help but notice that he was being led towards the outskirts of the city. Strange...Did Gale not live within Usank? That was fishy...He had stopped for another short break when he heard approaching footsteps. Not wanting a redo of earlier, he immediately whirled around, dagger at the ready.

A figure wrapped in a long black hooded cloak was approaching. A mask was hiding its face which made alarms ring in his head. Covering one's face especially in a city never meant anything good. "What do you want?" he asked. "If you want money, I'm sorry, but I was just mugged so I don't have any left."

"Oh no, it's not money that we want. It's just that...you are not from around here so you may be just what we are looking for," the figure replied, voice distorted by some sort of spell so that Kishi could not tell if it was a man or a woman speaking to him.

"Please don't disappoint us." As soon as the cloaked figure finished speaking, he or she tossed a heavy sphere at Kishi. He would have usually been able to avoid the sphere, but the head injury he had sustained earlier got in the way.

The projectile barreled into him, knocking him off his feet and sending him sprawling across the ground. He immediately got back up and attempted to roll thing sphere off of him, but much to his surprise, it latched onto his arm and started emitting a faint glow.

Fearing that it was some sort of parasite, Kishi tried to pry it off with the blade of his dagger,but to no avail. Whatever the thing was, it was very hard and was slowly seeping into his arm. "What is this?" he asked, but when he raised his head, the cloaked figure was gone.

Kishi got back onto his feet gingerly just in time to see Nox speed through the air to reach him. 'What are those?' it asked, referring to the two daemons that had been following Kishi around. The koroki detected a hint of reproachful jealousy in his guardian spirit's thoughts and quickly attempted to remedy the situation.

'They are daemons and can store my magic. See?' As demonstration, Kishi picked up the one he had not stored any magic in there and infused some of his mana into it.

'Hmph, alright,' the spirit conceded while flying around the stone creature that lifted an arm to try and grab onto it. 'but while you were busy wasting money, I found out that Gale has connections with Evolution!"

Nox had briefly told Kishi what it had heard from the other harpy. He had not tried to stay any longer for fear of being found out, something that would have endangered both of them. He had no time to waste, he had to find Gale once more even if it is to spy on the harpy. He was so preoccupied by the news that he had completely forgotten the odd encounter he had just had.

Feeling slightly better after all this time, Kishi risked breaking into a run with Nox leading the way, but before he got too far, he noted a group of nicatal chattering angrily. He did not have time to deal with them so he ducked behind a nearby alcove int he large tree trunk.

They were arguing right in front of bridge Kishi had planned to take so it wasn't as though he could go around them, by going counter clockwise around the large tree trunks. He waited a minute, then two, but when it became apparent that they would be budge, Kishi let out an exasperated sigh and quickly whispered an incantation.

Within seconds, his body started emitting a bright light and he leaped out of his hiding spot, letting his guardian spirit guide him.

Unfortunately for him, the argument had gotten violent and he had only poured oil onto the flames with his sudden appearance. Both sides thought that the other had planned an ambush and spells were unleashed. Before Kishi knew it, the whole area had been blasted away by numerous spells, sending everyone tumbling towards the forest floor. He tried to slow his descent, by slamming his dagger into the tree trunk, but it was of little use. it only gave one of the nicatal the opportunity to grab onto him by flailing blindly and use him as a cushion.

Nox tried to intervene, so did the daemons, but it was of no use as they were too small and lacked in strength. All 4 of them ended up crashing onto a lower branch. Kishi felt a few ribs give way and was sure that he had broken at least 2 vertebra, but somehow, before blacking out, he realized that he had survived.

When Kishi woke up, he was in Usank's healing hut along with numerous of the other nicatal that had fallen, but not all. Some had not been so lucky it would seem.

"Urgh, I think I'll just take a minor healing potion and be on my merry way," Kishi groaned and looked around to see Nox as well as his 2 daemons hop onto his cot.

"Are you sure? We've only just finished healing your broken bones and vital organs," the healer asked, but nevertheless handed him a healing potion. "That will be 5 coins."

"Yup, definitively. Am busy," Kishi answered as he handed the coins to the nicatal before downing the liquid and limping out of the hut his companion in tow.

The potion was slow to take effect, but Kishi nevertheless managed to muster enough energy to find a local map and find an alternative route to Gale's home. Hopefully the crow would still be there by the time he got there. He wasn't out for too long judging from the suns' position, but he must have missed most of the important talk.

Gale's home was farther than he would have expected and only served to confirm his suspicions that the Harpy was attempting to avoid the locals. Despite the main in his limb, Kishi trudged forward and up the ridiculous amount of stairs and rope ladders the city had while following Nox' instructions. The guardian had somehow accepted although not without resignation, the additional two beings tailing Kishi.

Kishi had to take a break midway up a flight of stairs in a remote area of Usank. He was leaning forward, panting heavily and raised a hand to wipe the sweat off his brow when movement in front of him caught his attention. Standing at the top of the stairs was none other than the cloaked figure that had tossed some sort of parasitic sphere at him.

'Why didn't you say anything earlier?' Nox shouted, fluttering frantically around his head much to the amusement of the two daemons.

'Was busy, still am,'he answered which only made this spirit let out a mental snort.

"Who are you? And what did you do to me?"

"You have been tested and have proven yourself apt to wield our creations by not believing in righteousness," the figure answered.

"That would be pushing it..." Kishi muttered under his breath. True, he did not believe in all that talk about what is righteous, but he would still support it should the need arise to maintain balance. "What do you want with me?"

"We may need your services in the future. You see, you have just obtained the power to remotely control some of our creations and we may have jobs in the future for you. Though we also can control them, we have to focus on more important things."

"Why would I agree to this? What's in it for me?"

"You will not risk injuring yourself. As I said, you will be able to remotely control those creature. Suffice to stay in the same area. You will be also gaining experience through them. Imagine having the opportunity to wield powers that you normally can't in that small body of yours. Not only that, should you accomplish your duty, we will let you keep it as a pet. Sounds good enough for you?"

In other words, there would be no risks for him and only profit. It was too good of a deal to be true, but he could not find any fault in it. "I suppose that I may not refuse. If I do so, you will have something up your sleeve to make me pay."

"Actually, we don't have anything of the kind as we do not see the need of it. You won't be backing out for some moral issues. The test was for that purpose and there is absolutely no risk of you getting injured in the process. I do not see why anyone of your moral compass would refuse the offer, but I will give you a few more hours to decide. Until then, good-bye"

With that, the mysterious being threw down a flash bang and vanished.
