Taylor heard something different from the gun shots and zombie groans. Voices. Someone else was here. "Other survivors!" she thought. "Hello?!" she yelled out. She wasn't sure if Derek had heard them too. She could have just been going mad.

"Keep still!" Deigon shook his head annoyed, trying to keep a good hold on the dog's foreleg while wrapping it with gauze.

Ruje didn't mind much when he was handled, but he didn't like being handled when he was injured and this was no exception. The crash had left him somewhat dazed at first but aside from a few across his body and one fair gash across his left side, Ruje was fine and didn't want to be messed with. Blood stained his coat however, marring the normal white, and to anyone who didn't know better, Ruje might have been infected. An order was an order however, and when Demien echoed the command Ruje obeyed reluctantly.

"I hear voices." Demien says from the door. Only a couple inches wide Demien peeks through, though from his vantage the hallway seemed empty. "Some groaning... kind of like those old zombie movies, I can't make out what they're saying.

"Just like him..." Deigon's thoughts return to the man that had stumbled out in front of the truck earlier. Something was obviously wrong with him, the same affliction Deigon had seen consuming many of the people around this area. "Best to avoid them, get out of here as soon as we can."

"I can make out one voice," Demien says, "Some calling hello... I wonder if they know we're here."

Ruje yelps suddenly and Demien turns quickly to see what's happened. "Easy!" Deigon snaps, barely avoids Ruje's teeth. Tossing the piece of glass aside Deigon quickly presses a bandage to the cut and wraps it. Ruje whines irritably and turns to look at Demien, but Demien does nothing to stop Deigon and Ruje looks about as if to ignore Deigon. "All done,"

"He looks like a mummy." Demien grins at the dog, but his relief is obvious and he reaches down to pet an unbandaged portion of Ruje's head when Ruje comes to sit by him. "If I have to wear one, you'll be wearing a seat belt too from now on." Ruje doesn't react to the comment, but Deigon grins before resealing the bag of supplies.

"Let's see if I can remember how to get out of here now." Heading out into the hallway Deigon listens for more gunshots, signalling for Demien to wait until he finishes scouting the hallway before signalling for him to follow. Ruje limps along behind Demien as the three of them start out into another hallway, this one also seemingly empty.

*Edit: misspells and a few minor corrections from my earlier rush to get this post in. One thing to love about the army, always rushing but never seeming to get anywhere sweatdrop

This time Taylor didn't only hear speaking. She also heard a yell that sounded like "Easy!" She made a frown in thought as she continued to shoot at the zombies. Again, she yelled "Hello?!" now further from thinking that she was going crazy. "Is anybody there?!"

Despite his efforts to lead the group away from the gunfire, Deigon soon finds himself peering from behind a cart at a wandering figure at the far end of a hallway. The man showed similar symptoms as those of everyone else Deigon had encountered since he and Demien had arrived in this city, though this man's symptoms seemed more advanced than those of his fellows. "What's wrong with him? Demien asks, slipping next to Deigon behind the cart.

"I don't know..." Deigon replies, a moment later turning to add, "I thought I told you to stay back."

"Necrosis, maybe?"

"Maybe, but that's one hell of a bad case." Even the man's eyes seemed pailed, as if blind and yet somehow he managed to keep stumbling along. "How do you even know what that is anyways?" Turning to look at Demien, Deigon rolls his eyes at the boy's response.

"TV."

Ruje growls fiercely, snarling at the afflicted man as he draws closer to their hiding spot. "Ruje!" Deigon snaps, surprised at the dog's ferocity toward the man. Ruje continues to growl, catching the man's attention, though the man seems to pay him little mind. The man doesn't even seem to notice Deigon or Demien right away, his eyes staring lifelessly through Ruje. "Those eyes..." Deigon had seen such eyes before, the image flashing through his mind. "Dead eyes... just like them..."

The man turns his attention to Deigon and Demien, and suddenly those eyes find a small fire. The man groans, turning his body to stumble at a quickened pace toward Deigon. "Stay back!" Deigon orders, his right hand finding the grip of his pistol while his left reflexively moves the cart to stop the man. "Demien, get back!" Deigon orders, then raises his pistol at the man, "I'm warning you, stay back."

The man trips over the cart, making no effort to avoid it, and he heeds not Deigon's threats or the pistol. Instead, the man continues his advance, now only seven or eight feet away, and Deigon shoots. The bullet digs into the man's arm and causes him to jerk back from the force, but the man seems unhindlered by the wound. Ruje continues to snarl at the man, though Demien's hold on him stops him from attacking the man.

"There's more of them!" Demien points out, pointing at several more figures which had just appeared at the far end of the hall, where the man now attacking them had come.

"D*** it," Deigon curses, shooting the man in the head just as the man starts toward him again. "Back down the hall, now!"

*Headed your way now Black Ic3, though I'm not sure where exactly in the hospital you're at.

Still unsure whether or not Derek was hearing these things, Taylor was now sure. She heard more yelling, and multiple gunshots. She clenched her jaw in anger as the zombies were getting closer, and continued shooting. "Derek, there's other people in the hospital."

(( Somewhere on the main floor in a hallway.. xD I'd give more detail but there's no link for the layout D: ))

"I don't like this place..." Demien's voice barely a whisper, "This whole city... I feel like I'm stuck in one of those old horror movies."

"They're not zombies." Deigon shakes his head irritably, "Hell... I don't know what's wrong with these people, but let's not stick around to ask." The small patient room doesn't offer much means of an escape, but after a few warning shots Deigon had killed four of the people whom had tried to attack him and Demien not ten minutes ago and blocked off the rest via some double doors a couple hallways back. Now the three of them were hiding in one of the empty patient rooms on the first floor; Deigon stood guard at the door, peeking out through the blinds briefly before turning to look about the room.

"See anything?"

"No." The word brought little relief to Deigon, "Looks clear, but I think they're following the gunfire, and from the sounds of it we're getting pretty close ourselves."

"Wonder who it could be,"

"I don't know, but the answer's no."

"What?" Demien asked inquisitively, but then his tone changed when he added, "Why not?"

"We're not going to help them, we don't even know who they are.

"They're not locals, otherwise they wouldn't be fighting. Maybe they came here for medical supplies too. Maybe one of them is injured, and they can't get out."

"Everyone we've met here so far has tried to kill us, I'm not putting you in that kind of situation."

"I can handle myself," Demien's tone carried that "bulletproof" attitude which most boys his age shared. "Besides, Ruje won't let them anywhere near me." Ruje lay next to Demien, his body twisted in what Deigon could imagine to be a very uncomfortable position, and yet the dog seemed quite satisfied and cocked his ears at the mention of his name.

"No, and that's final."

"D***... Deigon stares irritably at the sign on the wall, "How in the hell did we end up..."

"Ironic...?"

"Not a word." Deigon's interrupts, his eyes settling on one particular arrow, the words "Main Entrance" next to it in bold letters. The gunfire had grown louder as the three followed these arrows, to the point that the source might very well be the next hallway, but as far as Deigon can see there's nothing down the one the arrow points. "Stay close, and keep Ruje quiet. Don't need him drawing any more attention."

Derek groaned as he heard the sound he dreaded most while under attack, the click click click that signified that he had run out of bullets. Pausing for a moment he quickly ejected the empty clip and swiftly inserting a new clip he immediately started firing again. "Other people in the hospital? Are you sure?" He asked with a frown, he thought he had heard voices but he couldn't be a hundred percent sure he had, but if Taylor had heard the voices too then there must be other survivors here, the chances of both of them hearing voices were very unlikely. If there were survivors he would defiantly help them as best as he could, he was not just going to walk away, it wasn't who he was. If someone needed help then he would help them. "Alright, here's what we'll do. We'll head back to the main entrance and see if we can locate the other survivors"

((Hey, l'm so sorry l haven't been on in ages l've been really busy))

Taylor heard voices getting closer, and heard Derek's gun clicking. "Oh hell. Be careful." she thought as she heard his gun clicking. "Yes, I'm sure." she said, and listened carefully to what he had said next. "Alright." she said with a nod, almost a determined look on her face.

(( Ahh, don't be sorry xD I understand~ ))

"Fine, but you two are staying back while I scout first." Deigon really didn't like the idea one bit, but he motioned toward an open door and held the handle as Demien and Ruje stepped through. "Stay here!

"But..." Demien falls silent, dropping his head to avoid Deigon's glare.

"Not a sound," Ruje curls up with a groan next to the desk chair in the corner of the room and Deigon points scornfully at him before turning back to Demien, "I'm going to see what's going on ahead, but if it's too dangerous then we'll just have to camp here til it's safe."

Demien sighs, having hoped to go with Deigon, but he rushes to the window when Deigon closes the door. Deigon looks at the door doubtfully, then gazes about the hallway, his eyes settling on a nearby cabnet which he quickly makes his way to.

"If not for that idiot..." Deigon's mind drifts for a moment back to the car accident and the man whom had stepped out in front of their truck. His mind, looking for someone to blame, jumps to Ruje and Deigon shakes his head, "D*** dog. All this trouble for a d*** dog, this isn't worth it." Deigon creeps toward the corner of the hall and closer to the gunfire. "Demien..." Demien had been knocked unconscous in the crash but aside from a bump on his head, Demien had been otherwise uninjured. When he saw Ruje however, Demien had panicked, and the memory brought with it a sense of guilt.

Deigon snapped out of his thoughts when he drew close to the corner, his pistol at the low ready Deigon steps up against the corner and listens. For a moment the gunfire ceases, a metallic clicking suggesting an empty clip, but the echoing shots resume only seconds later. Snapping his pistol to the ready Deigon steps off the wall and turns to aim down the hallway, finding himself aiming at the backs of two figures, both distracted by the wave of zombie like characters advancing toward them.

Deigon's vantage was short, interrupted by a deathly groaning coming from the hall he'd just cleared. Turning quickly Deigon fires a round at the new figure, a man wearing a doctor's coat, but bearing all the same necrotic symptoms of his most recent patient. The round strikes the man in the neck and causes him to stumble, the next round sending him unmoving to the ground.

"Not good..." Deigon looks about for some idea, he knew he didn't have enough ammo to stop all the infected he'd seen on the other side of those two people, and he knew there was no way around it. If he couldn't block off the hallway, the infected would eventually reach the room where Demien and Ruje were hiding. "Definately should not have come this way." The thought echoes in Deigon's mind, though he knew they'd not had any other choice in direction.

Running back to the hall where Demien's room was, Deigon looks around for something, anything, to give him an idea. Deigon's eyes find a nearby set of double doors, simple two way doors, but the only option as far as Deigon can see.

"Don't ask questions, just move!" Deigon orders, rushing Demien and Ruje through the doors. "Bring those gourneys over here,"Throwing a cabinet down onto it's side Deigon shoves it quickly against one of the doors to stop it from opening, at least from being pushed from the other side. After he was satisfied, Deigon closed Demien and Ruje into a nearby closet, looking over his work briefly, before running down the hall to the corner where he'd seen the two people, pushing a gourney while pulling another behind him. Once at the corner, Deigon topples both gourneys, laying them across the hallway so that he had to jump over them to reach the corner. "Move this way, quickly!"

Hearing another gunshot from a different direction, she turned her head toward a corner. But by the time she did, she didn't see anybody. Her attention went back to the zombies, shooting. Not too long after, a voice telling her and Derek to, well, pretty much follow him. It sounded like the one she had heard yelling not to long ago. With a final shot decapitating yet another zombie, she grabbed Derek's arm and led him toward the unfamiliar guy, jumping over the gourneys with him.

The two gourneys serve their purpose fitfully, wedged in fairly well between the walls of the hallway. As expected, just as the first host Deigon had encountered earlier, these locals made no attempt to avoid the gourneys and by the time the two strangers turn the corner toward the double doors there's a small pile of squirming, groaning bodies. "Through the door!" Deigon motions toward the double doors, one of which is blocked by another gourney, glancing back at the pile of people reaching toward him as they try to pick themselves up. Toppling three more thoughtfully placed gourneys Deigon follows the two people through the door and quickly closes it, stopping to throw down a cabinet to block the remaining door. The cabinet's glass doors shatter when it hits the ground, but with any luck Deigon's little set up would work to buy them some time to escape. "This won't hold long," Deigon turns to the two strangers, "Not wasting time on introductions, do you know another way out of here?"
PostPosted: Thu Jul 14, 2011 3:19 pm

Derek hissed in pain as he got over the gourneys, accidentally putting too much weight on his bad leg, sending pain shooting up his leg. There was no time to stop though as he quickly hurried through the door that the other survivor had motioned to, making sure that Taylor was with him. Once he got through the doors he immediately leaned against the nearest wall, taking the weight off his leg. Leaning his head back against the wall he closed his eyes for a moment, muttering something about finding some pain medication before taking a deep breath and pushing himself away from the wall, being cautious not to put too much weight on his leg. "No l don't, haven't really had much of a chance to look around. I'm sure we can find a way out though" Derek replied with a shrug as he looked at the other survivor.

Taylor went through the door as the stranger had said. However, she gave Derek a worried look as he leaned against the wall once they were inside this room. Her head made a fast turn as the stranger spoke. She looked down a second after, not wanting to making eye contact. "N-no." she said quietly. She moved herself closer to Derek in case he lost his balance due to his injured leg.

"There were two ways that I know of, the first back down the hall through there." Glancing through the window of the door Deigon grins half heatedly, "Had to block it off, same as this door."

Turning back from the door Deigon looks over the two new characters; a woman who, from first impressions, didn't pose much of a threat but the man looked to be military or of a similar build and Deigon eyed him warily for a moment. The man seemed to be injured, and Deigon wondered for a moment if the man would slow them down too much, but simply asked, "You good to keep moving on that leg?"

"Told you one of them might have been injured." Demien's voice chimes in from behind Deigon and Deigon closes his eyes to hide his annoyance.

"Shouldn't you be waiting in the closet?" Deigon's voice betrays his irritation. "This is neither the time nor place to be disregarding orders."

"I heard you talking." Demien replies, "You wouldn't stop to talk if it weren't..." Demien falls silent, lowering his eyes to glance at his feet when Deigon shoots him a fierce glare. "Alright... sorry." Turning, as if to leave, Demien stops and rubs the back of his head. "Can I at least let Ruje use the restroom, that closet's pretty small and I don't want..."

"Just," Deigon interrupts, then taking a deep breath he pauses, "We're moving out, we'll stop when we get somewhere a little safer." Collecting himself Deigon turns to look at the two strangers, "Keep up or split up but you'll not slow us down. Deigon thought of the various medicines he'd salvaged from the supply room and wondered if he should give the man some, then decided. "I've got some acetaminophen, not a doctor but that might take away some of the pain."

Taylor made a small nervous smile when the stranger grinned. Hearing a younger voice, her eyes wandered to behind the stranger, to find a small boy who looked to be only around 3 or 4 years younger than her. The older stranger then closed his eyes. She bit her lip hearing him talk to the boy with a voice filled with frustration and irritation. Her eyes drifted to Derek, then back at the stranger. The acetaminophen may be a good idea.
