Dude, it's not hard. It's like the beginning of a story. Describe the setting, bring in Harry and just kind of take for a while. As long as you make the set than we can all just kind of... float in.

I agree with Finora, although I suppose we could start with Ron or Hermione writing a letter and sending it off, and then wondering how Harry is holding up, which leads to the next post (by Harry), describing him receiving said letter...?

[[Alright, here goes... *gets rent song stuck in head*]]
Harry sighed as he looked out the window of his summer home. Or prison rather, as he saw it. He wasn't treated half as badly as he could have been, but he felt completely trapped by everything, and he felt smothered. He wanted to have contact with Ron and Hermione and start looking for the Horcruxes.
The three or four letters Harry had sent to each of them had so far not been returned. He had no idea what was going on and was in the middle of, once again, feeling very much forgotten. The fact that it was happening so often was starting to really get on Harry's nerves and if he didn't recieve any contact from his two best friends soon, he was going to give them a nice long talking to next he saw them.
[[Crap, complete crap, but it's something.]]

Dear Harry,
I'm sorry for not replying to your letters so far - it's becoming increasingly dangerous to send messages by owl post. However, I know you must be feeling left out at Privet Drive. Please try not to let it bother you - we'll have you out of there soon enough!
I've thought about several things over the holidays, namely the things we talked about at Professor Dumbledore's funeral, and have come to a decision - whatever you choose to do, I want to help you do it, even if it means not returning to Hogwarts this year. I've spoken to Professor McGonagall, and she says that, in the event that the school re-opens, it might be possible to complete my seventh year externally, in which case I'll still be able to sit my NEWTs, which is excellent news. In the mean while, however, I'm prepared to put study aside to help you with your task.
Write back soon if you can, Harry. I know we really can't talk about much via the post, but I expect I'll be seeing you soon enough.
Take care and stay safe, love from Hermione.
Hermione rolled up the scroll of parchment with a sigh and attached it to the patiently outstretched leg of Hedwig, Harry's snowy owl. She had put off writing back before now, not wanting Hedwig to be harmed, but she also knew that, left to his own devices, it was quite possible that Harry would do something rash, and she knew that none of them could afford rash moves now.
"Safe flight, Hedwig," Hermione said softly as she watched the owl fly off into the darkness. With another sigh, she closed her window and left the room.
((Letter number one written and sent!))

Harry Potter The Smallest Room 4 Privet Drive Little Whinging Surrey
Dear Harry,
I hope Pig gets this letter to you ok. He's been acting really strange the past few days. I think he might be getting sick. It's probably about time I clean his stupid cage... It might have something to do with him getting into Fred and George's things, too.
Anyway, I just wanted to write to you to see how you're doing. Are you still at Privet Drive? I wouldn't be surprised if you left by now. What person in their right minds would want to stay with those muggles? You can always stay at the Burrow, you know. Mum might just love you more than she loves me, her own son.
I bet Moine has written to you by now. Probably told you her plan about completing her seventh year at another time. Well, I'm with you too, mate. Wherever you go with this You-Know-Who business, I'll be right behind you. I wouldn't let you do that alone. I'm with you until the end, Harry. But, you know that already. I hardly doubt there is much of a Hogwarts to go back to, anyway. Ever since Dumbledore... you know, the place has been in a shambles. Dad has talked to Snape, and I guess that McGonagall has been appointed headmistress. I'm not really surprised about that. I can't really say much about anything, in case the letter is intercepted. Everyone is right at work, though. The sooner you get over here, the better.
Anyway, I should probably send the letter now. Pig looks like he might faint, so I should probably send him off. I'd hate to send Errol... Even though he's sick, Pig is preferable over that ancient dust bag. At least I know that this letter will reach you. Errol would probably run into something or have a heart attack before he got to your place.
Sincerely, Ron Weasley
PS. There's a treat for Hedwig inside, compliments of Fred and George. If I were you, though, I wouldn't trust it.

((I'll play Harry, I suppose. I'm not doing anything else useful with life. It's going to be hard to keep this from being a RP version of DH, though... But we can try. This will be better, because there can be slash.
Actually, reading those first two letters... you guys were eerily accurate. Kinda.))
Hermione,
You'd better have me out of here, I can't stand this. Do you know what Dudley did the other day? He attacked Hedwig with a water gun. I mean, who does that? She's an owl!
Whatever. The point is, the H... my task. Yeah. We're wasteing time! We need a plan, and we need to start doing stuff! We can't just sit around all summer!
I'm going crazy.
~Harry
Harry sealed the first envelope and took out a second piece of parchment.
Ron,
Pig didn't look that great when he got here, but he's been getting better, I think he'll make it back the The Burrow okay.
I want to visit you, as soon as possible. The Muggles are driving me insane, it's like they don't realize that there's a war going on!
Er... I suppose that makes sense. But still.
Tell you mum, or your brothers, or someone to come resue me!
~ Harry
Harry sighed as he sent off his letters to his two best friends. He missed them, and he was becoming more bored by the second at Privet Drive.
In a week and a half, it would be his birthday, and there would be no point staying after then. If no one came to get him, he would just leave, Death Eaters or no Death Eaters, the Knight Bus would still be running.

Harry Potter The Smallest Room 4 Privet Drive Little Whinging Surrey
Harry,
Well, Pig made it back. I think he just near died the second he got in the window, though. I finally questioned the twins and they said that he might've gotten into their puking pasties. Poor Pig. There was a little problem with those, too. Guess they make you puke too much. No wonder Pig looks like he's about to keel over.
Muggles can be so stupid sometimes. I mean, I heard there have been quite a few disappearances in the London area, and they have been blaming it on some muggle criminal. Disappearances! Honestly, if I were a muggle, thank God I'm not but, if I were, I'd be a little suspicious.
I talked to Mum, and they've been talking about getting you out of there. You know, with your birthday coming up, you won't be safe in that house much longer. I can imagine it would be pretty hard, though, with Death Eaters roaming about the country like they owned the place.
Anyway, better go. Mom is starting to get on my a** about Bill and Fleur's wedding. That's only a few days after your birthday, by the way.
Sincerely, Ron.

Hermione read Harry's letter with a sinking heart. Whenever Harry started talking about not being able to stand something, it was a sure precursor of risky behaviour, and they absolutely couldnot afford that.
Sighing, Hermione picked up a quill, dipped it in her inkpot, placed it to parchment and wrote:
Harry,
I know this must be frustrating for you, but I daresay we'll have you out soon enough! Ron's written to me about going to the Burrow for the summer, so I expect I'll see you there.
There isn't much else I can say, except that I agree - we need a plan. I've been doing some reading, and if we want to...finish the job Dumbledore set you, we'll need some very specialised equipment. I can't say more here, but I'll explain when we see each other next.
I do hope your cousin stops attacking Hedwig (though she seems fine to me, which is a relief). Have you tried telling the Dursleys about what's happening in our world?
Love,
Hermione.
Hedwig was waiting patiently on Hermione's desk; as Hermione approached, the owl stuck out her leg. Then, letter attached, she took flight with a doleful hoot.

((You know, Ron and Hermione could write to each other here. I mean, just because we wouldn't see it in the books, doesn't mean we can't see it here.))
Ron,
D'you really think it'll be hard for me to get out of here? I hadn't even considered that. I suppose it makes sense, though.
If you were a Muggle you'd be suspicious of what? Magic to them is like Crumpled Horned Snorkacks to us. Well, most of us. Speaking of, I told Duddykins about Snorkacks the other day. I said I'd get Luna to set them on him if he tried anything I didn't like.
Keep working on the plans to get me out of here.
~Harry
*~*~*~*~*
Hermione,
Frustrating is a bit mild, I think. This is the longest summer ever! To think of what's going on out there, and I'm stuck here washing the Dursley's dirty socks. I want to do something important!
The Dursleys don't care what's happening in our world. Well, they probably don't. Well ,actually, I haven't talked to Uncle Vernon all summer, and I avoid talking to Aunt Petunia as much as possible. But I don't think they'd care.
Dudders doesn't, that's for sure. Perhaps he would if he had a firmer grasp on the English language, but as is, he's got about the intelligence of a flobberworm.
Hope to see you very soon,
~Harry
