Kyle stopped for a second but quickly went back to scratching Holly. "Oh. I guess I didn't realize that there were so many wolves...wow"

Holly laughed. "We do tend to congregate. Its pretty easy for us to find each other since wers have such a distinctive smell and we don't have to hide anything around each other. It's kinda handy."

"So, are werewolves a lot like real wolves?" Kyle was wondering about the bond that he felt to Holly, and wondered if it was more than just teenage lust.

"We tend to be bigger and we have an extra pad." Holly held up her paw for him to see. "But we're basically the same...except for that whole complicated wolf instinct combined with human thought process issue."

Holly laughed. "Its kind of hard to explain to someone who hasn't experienced it. Its kind of like giving a regular wolf a conscience and the ability for cold calculation. We're kind of governed by a special set of natural laws."

Kyle thought about it for a second and then decided after she revealed herself to him, he could have the guts to ask her a question. "So, I read that wolves, mate for life. Like they know exactly what they are doing." He averted his eyes, trying not to make it sound like he was asking about them, instead of the wolves.

Holly did not catch on to Kyle's train of thought. She was still in simple Q and A mode. "Wers mate for life to. Our rules are a little wonky though. Because of that whole human thing, wers often sleep with the wrong person and end up stuck with them until someone dies. Cheating also usually leads to someone getting murdered. If you really want to know about how the whole cheating thing really works, go ask Yakov about Brittany...just don't mention it when Jeff's around. That will only end badly."

"Oh, wow. I never knew. Poor Yakov." Kyle was surprised that something like that had really happened. He thought about asking more but decided to wait to ask Yakov.
Richard had made his way downstairs once Jeff and Yakov had started up. He had turned on the TV and was only half watching it, he had a book with him. But a name on the TV caught his attention and soon he found himself heading up the stairs and to Yakov and Jeff's door. He knocked loudly.

"Oh," That didn't settle Kyles worries. Was she only with him because he was human? And why was he getting all defensive about this, he hadn't know her for more than a day. This was nothing more than a fling, and in a week or so he was going to leave and prolly never see her again.

Jeff grumbled something and slowly rolled out of bed. He wrapped one of the sheets around his waist and went to the door, opening it. "Rich? What is it?" Jeff was still groggy.
Rich was almost in tears. "Oh Jeff, I'm so sorry!"

Holly was oblivous to the affect she was having on Kyle. Had she been paying attention, should would have easily noticed his emotional change. Right now she was just talking and enjoying the scratching. "Yeah. Although a lot of times, wers will turn there human lovers so they can mate for life."

Yakov sat up quickly and eyed Jeff worriedly. This could not be good.

Kyle hadn't been expecting to hear that. "Does turning hurt?"
Besides Yakov, Richard had been the man that Jeff had confided in most. They had even shared a bed once or twice a year or two ago, but it was nothing more than two lonely people needing companionship. Richard wrapped his arms around him for a brief hug before letting go and looking sadly up at Jeff. "It's all over the news, it's your mother Jeff."
Jeff's head started swimming. He couldn't bring himself to speak.
