Rocket Grunt Damon

PostPosted: Fri Jan 21, 2011 10:32 pm

It took Damon a long moment to calm from the adrenaline of the cave-in, and by then three of the other Rockets had made their way over to the rock wall to check on the Elites. He didn't know why he was so relieved to hear secondhand that they were fine - he hardly knew either of them. Maye he was just relieved there had been no major injuries thus far. He didn't know, nor did he cared to dwell on it.

They had a mission to continue, and given the look on the face of the Agent behind him, they would still be fulfilling it. So with a quick pat on the head for Badru, he staggered back to his full height, briefly glancing over his shoulder. That could have been bad... But they were unharmed, and that was what mattered.

He was more than willing for this mission to be over with, and if that meant sucking it up and tromping further into the volcano led by the Agents, then so be it. It was better than standing around and waiting for something to happen. Besides, he doubted either of the Elites would be happy if they didn't continue onward. And he didn't fancy angering either one of them.

Functional? Who the hell used that kind of word?

"I'm fine," he told Kunai as soon as he heard the muffled confirmation on the other side. It seemed that they had gotten the message. He could feel the sting if a cut in his back and some blood flowing down his skin, but it wouldn't impede him any.

"We'll have to climb the slope and descend into the crater." Not exactly the most ideal way to get in, since it was far more dangerous, but they had no other option. With that, he turned and started to walk back in the direction they had come.

On the other side though... the fun wasn't over yet. There was another rumbling sound. Could it be another earthquake? The sound got louder, and eventually a glow appeared started to grow in intensity from the otherwise dark tunnel.

The sound and glow grew until finally... a mass of fire Pokemon came barreling around a corner. Disturbed by the quake, they came stampeding right in the direction of the trapped Rockets. There was a fleet of them! Mostly Charmander, Charmeleon, Torkoal, Cyndaquil, and Quilava... with a few Growlithe and Flareon sprinkled in here and there.

"On our own?" Len interjected to no one in particular as her glasses shined with a clear film of mucky dust. It was unbelievable! How could they possibly continue the mission on their own? Of course, the idea was incredibly far-fetched. To her, at least. She was never much of a leader and this outside act of volcanic ash and soot was pissing her off. She should have just stayed at the base and continued to file papers or plot of brother's demise. But not this, not this crap.

Max nosed her ear and she swatted him away. Sure, he was her first Pokemon but she wasn't in the mood to be comforted. The Pikachu sighed and closed his eyes, the dark ring markings on his face resembling empty sockets in the dusk. What to do, what to do?

The rumble caught both of the figures off guard and when the trampling stampede of fire Pokemon came gushing out towards her, she felt her heart yip with elation. Len literally wanted to shout, "Zomg!" but of course, it wouldn't be heard as the rumbling neared. She wouldn't mind getting run over, not at all. Fire Pokemon ftw?

Nyx was pretty confident that the volcano wouldn't explode while they were in it... until the volatile thing started to rumble again. She was only slightly relieved when a stampede of fire types came running their way. Nyx barely had time to pull out her Rocket'Dex and start to check what moves Darwin knew as an umbreon.

"Darwin, dark pulse," She looked around quickly, "That charmeleon!" Nyx pointed at one of the Charmeleon. If she could catch it, Darwin could take a break from providing light for his trainer. And having a pokemon with her that could withstand high heats would be useful.

The mew/umbreon looked nervously at the mass of pokemon, but did what his trainer commanded, and sent a wave of dark energy at the charmeleon in the mass of poor confused pokemon.

Rocket Agent Faleen

Making sure to not touch anymore of the walls, or the rocks laying around, Faleen struggled to maintain balance when another tremor shook the ground below them.
She barely had time to regain her footing when another troubling sight caught her attention.
Fire pokemon... a lot of them, and they were all swarming this way.
This was not good.

When Nyx ordered her Mew-now-Umbreon into an attack Faleen called to her Umbreon as well
"Umbreon assist it! Dark Pulse!" she ordered her pokemon, hoping to widen the aria of attack to slow the stampede.

Umbreon darted forward to draw up next to Darwin, body tensing as he let loose his attack when Darwin did, shooting it toward the fire pokemon.

The Pokemon didn't stop for anything and ran right into the midst of the Rockets. Some of them bellowing and crying out as they did. The Charmeleon that Darwin hit was knocked back, then turned its anger on the pseudo Umbreon in a slash attack.

The other swarming Pokemon ran right into the wall, bouncing off and running around in a panic or back the other direction, while others stopped in their tracks from having run head on into the rocks.

"s**t!" Nikki shouted as she dodged fire types, trying to keep a close eye on her own Torkoal so as not to lose him in the crowd. "Kooooal" he bellowed in fright. "Let's get the hell out of here!" She then shouted again, trying to fight through the Pokemon to continue down the tunnel with only some success.

As the panicked fire types swarmed the passage, for a brief moment Damon lost track of what was going on. Badru bristled at any that came too close to his trainer, fur fluffed up even as a stray Growlithe bowled right into Damon's legs. Before he could even figure out what had happened, on of the Pokeball's on his belt had been knocked free and fell right on the terrified Pokemon's head. In a single flash of red light, the grunt had managed to acquire a new Pokemon without even having attempted to catch it.

He scooped the Pokeball up before it had a chance to be knocked out of the still swarming Pokemon, returning it to its place on his belt and beginning to fight his way through the crowd at the prompting of the Agent. He didn't need to be told twice, and Badru was quick to follow, dodging a Charmander here and using Quick Attack on a too-slow Cyndaquil there.

He did his best to clear a path for Damon, but even so it didn't seem like it was going to be so easy. He still needed to step over some of the smaller Pokemon, although it certainly wasn't easy. It seemed like every time he lifted a leg to take a step, a fire type was already where he was about to take a step.

It was madness.

Darwin yelped when the Charmeleon retaliated against him, but remained standing, for the moment. Nyx tried her best not to get knocked over while the pokemon pooled and surged around them, but ended up being scratched and bumped into none the less. "Faint attack, Darwin!" She called out to her pokemon, while she readied an empty pokeball from her bag.

The semi-Umbreon darted forward slightly, jerked back, and then attacked the Charmeleon. This was certainly exciting, even if it was slightly painful.

It was difficult to avoid the walls now, with all the pokemon pushing and shoving into her, nearly knocking her into the wall.

"Umbreon!" she called to her dark pokemon, trying to see where he had gone.
The Pokemon had a much easier time of things then his master did though, she saw the Pokemon pouncing up, using the rushing Pokemon below to bounce on and keep above the rush.

Nikki was right, they had to move past this.
"Guys I recommend you hold on!"
"SHARPEDO!" she growled, ripping off another ball from her thigh, and throwing it into the air
"SURF!"

It was honestly up in the air at this point if Sharpdeo would be ready to listen to her command,
When the Large shark was summoned, dropping heavily on a few unfortunate fire types.
The shark looked highly offended at first! why the HELL was he summoned when there was no water! laying awkwardly in an uncomfortable ground, with pokemon rushing everywhere!
This just enraged him... untill he noticed the potential in his Master's orders.
Ohhhh this was going to be fun.
Sharpedo opened his mouth as wide as it would go, "SHAR!" and with a massive spray of water that fulled most of the gave, the water gushed down through the rows and rows and rows of fire types.

Faleen actually had to hold onto something now. the water gushing past her, running right into her and splashing up her chest and into her face.
it felt... rather nice, but it was really strong... and was unpleasant enough.

Hold on to what exactly? Sharp rocks?

Nikki looked back at Faleen incredulously until she saw her release the Sharpedo and give it a command. You have got to be kidding. Her face paling slightly. "Wait don-!"

But it was too late.. the water rushed forward and swept up a large amount of fire Pokemon in its wake, including her own Torkoal. The water also overcame the agent and knocked her down.

Once the surf had subsided and flowed down the tunnel, there was a plethora of fainted fire types now on the ground, including the Charmeleon that Darwin had just attacked, and Nikki's Torkoal.

Nikki, also soaked, looked up with a glare at Faleen. "Was that REALLY necessary?"

Holding her hands down in front of her, closing her eyes to the burning, but she looked up when Nikki addressed her.
"Before more of those Pokemon got caught up in this dead end and things got worse, I felt it was Ma'am."

Sharpedo, no longer amused with the situation flopped around where he lay, furiously gnashing his teeth "Shar Sharpedo! SHARPEDO!"

Her Umbreon trotted back up her to from farther down the cave, bringing light with him. soaking wet, like Faleen herself and probably most of the Rockets were.

Len agreed with Nikki with a nod of her head and sighed, wiping the remnants of steam upon her glasses. It didn't help though as she put it back on, it just steamed up again. Literally, her vision was cloudy.

"Arceus, look at them all." she murmured at the sight of all the fainted fire-types. She was hoping to snag one of them but the circumstances didn't feel quite right. Nevertheless, she tapped an open ball to a downed Growlithe with deep guilt.

Max shook off the water on his fur and twisted his mouth up as she returned to Len. Water was the rodent's enemy, even though he had an advantage against it and its types.

"Oh shi-!" Nyx certainly wasn't able to hold on, as she became swept up in the sudden current and skid across the ground coming to a stop among the fainted fire types. There were quite a few more tears in her suit now, but at least the fire types were mostly taken care of...

Darwin ended up on top of the fainted Charmeleon and shook his face dry, and then let out a little yip at his trainer. "Wha-? Oh!" Nyx sat up and threw the pokeball at the unconscious pokemon, taking the time to see if the pokeball would catch or not to catch her breath for a second before she would stand up.

At the sudden and unexpected rush of water against his body, the precarious footing Damon had was quickly lost. Badru rushed past him in the water and he quickly reached out to grab the Umbreon around the neck even as he was thrown against one of the walls. The rough rock easily tore through his shirt, scraping his back up rather unpleasantly.

So much for getting out of this uninjured...

Once the sudden rush of water had receded, he moved away from the wall and took a quick glance around to make sure there were no major injuries. Everyone seemed alright, and while Badru looked annoyed at having to shake water from his fur, he was fine and his rings didn't falter their steady glow. He could feel a bit of blood welling in the cuts on his back and trickling downwards, but it was nothing major. Sure, it stung, but he'd survive.

The more important question was regarding what in the name of Arceus that grunt had been thinking. Doing an attack like that in such an enclosed space was just asking for trouble.

"I don't agree, but whatever... lets get going!" Nikki grumbled back at Faleen while picking herself up. She was dripping wet, which wasn't too bad considering the heat and would probably dry quickly here anyway. Still it was annoying.

However she then noticed her fainted Torkoal and sighed, recalling him to his Pokeball. But now she was without a light source. This was fixed by the release of her Dark Charizard, she looked around and growled lowly.

"Come on Yuushi." And with that, the blonde and her dragon headed down the tunnel once more.

The Charmeleon was easily captured. Nyx was now plus one fire type!
