It was as if Bryce had suddenly found the strength he had been missing. Joyce was gasping, and he was panicking He was watching her face so carefully, and he was looking for a sign of what could have been wrong. He stood up, and said "Something's wrong. I can tell." He wasn't asking for her response, he wasn't telling her just to point it out. He was saying it because he needed to confirm it to himself, that he wasn't delusional. It was then that he noticed it. The corset that had been on her was strangling the breath from her.

Bryce sat back down and looked her in the eyes, not giving a care whether or not she looked back this time. "Joyce, it's okay to let go this time." He was speaking about the corset, but that could have meant so many different things. Let go of her ways just to find comfort, let go of the corset to breathe, let go of him if it was suffocating her, even. He wanted the best for her, and if that meant letting her go so she could take a damn corset off, he would. "No judgement, no opinions, nothing." He didn't know where it was coming from, but he knew this was helping him get through this. Bryce took her hand tightly after letting it go to study her. It was the only way to comfort himself through this, after everything that had happened.

Bryce only then realized that he was still shaking, and he couldn't stop. He wanted to stop, but he just couldn't. Maybe this was how he really was? He wanted to stop hurting people, but he just couldn't. He wanted to stop hurting Joyce, but he really, really, just couldn't. And God, he would have done anything to stop it right then and there.

Without you, the ground thaws, the rain falls, the grass grows.
Without you, the seeds root, the flowers bloom, the children play.
The stars gleam, the poets dream, the eagles fly, without you.
The earth turns, the sun burns, but I die, without you.

Joyce looked up at Bryce and noticed that he was shaking. She took as deep of a breath as she could and put her hands behind her back. She still looked down, but she undid the ribbons from the back, so Bryce didn't see her exposed back. It still had slight scars from Rhiannon. After a short pause, the corset was off. Truthfully, you couldn't notice a difference. Her with the corset and her without the corset. Her waist was only a few inches larger, she had a tiny waist. But it still didn't seem natural. The dress she was wearing now was tight, so you'd figure once the corset was loosened, there's be some difference. Not much.

She glanced up at Bryce and then back down to her hands.
"Doctor says my ribs'll never be the same, they got shifted." She mumbled. Then she realized she shouldn't be talking about personal things with a boy, and then realized she didn't care a moment later. Her eyes welled up again and she covered her face with her hands. She was so ugly. Her waist was curved to look thin, it hurt sometimes, with or without a corset. Her neck was going to have a big scar, and her back already did. Her hair wasn't in pretty ringlets like her sister's. Her face was so pale it might've been a vampire's to begin with. She was so hideously ugly... she just felt so filthy right now...after what Parker did. She felt so low, so shallow, like the lowliest creature on earth right now...nothing more than some common, immoral...why hadn't she struggled more? If it meant death, at least she'd have some dignity, but now she had to forever live with the shame...no man should lay hands on her unless he was courting her...she liked to think of Bryce as just that one expection. He could never like her, and now, no one could...her mom had basically arranged a meeting for her to meet with a boy from around town, but now...no chance of that, no chance of a happy life...she wouldn't be happy with some stranger anyways, but still...she'd be married, and now she was so hideous...

She wasn't sure why she was obsessed with her appearance all of a sudden, but knew it had something to do with the corset. Whenever she changed or caught sight of her waist in a mirror, her stomach churned. Though corset's were needed to look presentable, a young woman needed to, well, not look like that underneath. Her ribs shouldn't be curved, and perhaps by wearing the corset, even when she slept....out of sight out of mind?
She trembled a little, face still in her hands. Her neck stung and burned, but it wasn't really on her mind. No one would have her after another man had ruined her. And, after all, wasn't her goal in life supposed to be to be a housewife? Pretty easy goal, and now she couldn't even do that much.

Without you, the breeze warms, the girl smiles, the cloud moves.
Without you, the tides change, the boys run, the oceans crash.
The crowds roar, the days soar, the babies cry, without you.
The moon glows, the river flows, but I die, without you.

Bryce was careful not to say or do anything offensive to hurt Joyce's feelings or attack her morals. But, if her ribs were really going to stay like that for the rest of her life, why in the world would her parents make her live through that kind of pain? To him, it just seemed to unnatural. But, then again, wasn't his father guilty of that too? Bryce would probably have serious issues with his emotions for the rest of his life, yet, it was a product of his father's method of raising him. There was nothing he could do now, but maybe Joyce could be helped yet. "What about the wizarding doctors and healers? Could they do something?" He could see how much this affected her, so he just wanted to shoot out other possibilities. But, now he wasn't sure if this was a good idea. When she took the corset off, he could see her crumple again, and he thought about what he would do in this kind of situation. That was a problem, though, because his emotions were still so new to him, that he couldn't have felt anything remotely similar. Then he thought about his mum. Everytime she was having a bad day, she would go shower, and she always came out more relaxed and energized. Maybe he could suggest that to Joyce? "Would you like to... err... clean up, maybe? I don't want to say it to be offensive... but sometimes, when my mum is having a horrible day, she goes to take a bath, and that seems to help her. Would that help you any?"

Bryce watched as Joyce threw her head into her hands, and she began to sob. He didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable, but he put a hand on her arm and rubbed up and down, hoping to soothe here. He knew it would be unproper for him to see her or touch her back with the corset off, but he really wanted to help her. "Maybe I should just go..." Bryce, still shaking a little bit, stood up and started to walk to the door, but he didn't think he could leave. He turned back around, imagining he heard her say something, and looked back at Joyce. He hoped she would say yes to the bathroom offer, and that would help her calm and feel better. He would stay guard at the door if he had to, to make her more comfortable if that was what she wanted. Bryce could use a shower too, but he could wait until she was done. Maybe it wasn't what she wanted at all, though. "Or maybe you want to do something else...? I just... I just want to help." He felt so helpless to her right now, but he wanted to be a help, that was all. He would do anything he could.

Joyce shook, but pulled herself together. She didn't want Bryce to leave. She knew healers couldn't do anything first of all, her mom would never let her. Magic and a woman's body shouldn't mix. And it was too damaged, had been there for too long. Bryce seemed uncertain if he should leave, he rubbed her arm, offered a shower, and it meant the world to her. She stopped shaking slowly and looked up at Bryce with teary eyes and just hugged him, her head on his shoulder. She didn't care that he could see her back. It was just her back. It was probably inappropriate, but she wasn't fit for a man to touch her now anyways. Not after what Parker'd done.

She was limp on his shoulder, she felt weak because off the loss of blood. A bath sounded great, now that she felt so filthly and soiled after Parker had touched her. Not to mention the only bath she'd had in years was swimming in the lake and a leaky faucet in their house. Hogwarts changed that, but still.
She released him after a moment or two, her face so pale it was the exact opposite of her hair now.
"I'm pretty sure just being around you made me break about every rule in the book of morals.
She smiled weakly. "A bath sounds lovely, actually." She sighed and held his hand, looking at their entwined fingers with an air of weak bliss.

Bryce just held her there, knowing now that she was comfortable with the whole touching and hugging thing. He didn't squeeze her very tightly, but he knew that he was holding her close. She needed this right now, and well, so did he. He found himself leaning his own head against hers, his cheek against her thick dark hair. He loved the feel of her hai and how it looked, but he wasn't sure how she felt about it. That didn't bother him though, because he liked it a lot. When she sat up, he released her slightly, but he didn't exactly feel like releasing her completely. He kept his hands around her lightly, smiling for some unknown reason. He felt comfort in her skin, in her fabric dress, and just holding her in general. When she started to speak, he listened carefully, taking in the beautiful sound of her voice, even under the strain it was under from everything going on. The smile she let shine, well, that just amazed him as well. He couldn't help but feel like he had been lost before he found her, and when they came together, he felt, well, real for once in his life. He couldn't believe one person could do this for him. "Yeah... well, besides that being my original plan, I am sorry about that..." He let his hand go to the back of his head, rubbing it out of guilt. He still felt bad about the way he used to treat her, and now, he was still watching her break her rules and codes, although now there was little he could do about it. But, when she wasn't that tightly-nit Joyce - when she actually let her personality and beauty show through - Joyce was even more lovely than she could ever be, and Bryce wished she could see that.

He knew that they should probably get going before someone walked in on them, but he just couldn't help himself anymore. That was when she spoke up again about the bath, and it almost shocked him just a little. He let it register, and he nodded, standing up, hardly taking into mind that they were holding hands. He led her out into the hall, taking her to the towel and linen closet. He pulled out some things that she may need, although he wasn't sure about what exactly she would be comfortable showering with and drying herself off with. That would be her decision, of course, but he just gave her a few towels and a guest robe for when she finished and wanted to go back to her room to change. He handed her a fresh wash cloth and a fresh poof to wash herself with, and he led her to the bathroom. "So... uhm... you just turn the knob to adjust the temperature. Right is warmer, left is cooler. And... to turn it on, you just press the metal button on the wall. To stop up the drain, just hit the lever on the faucet..." He let go of her hand, letting her do the rest on her own. That was when he realized she would probably need soap and shampoo. "Uhm... There is soap and such in the black cabinet by the sink... and if you need anything, just let out a yell." He smiled, hoping that would work, and he left her to shower. When he left, he went to the top of the stairs, watching out for his Mum. That was when another face appeared, and this time, more negative emotions poured out of him. He could tell Alex was feeling the same way.

"What the hell did you do to my brother?" She asked in a scowl. Bryce's lip twitched, but he didn't move his position, not willing to let her up the stairs.

"I did what was necessary. He attacked Joyce, and he broke the family code. How's that foot of yours?" Bryce asked, noticing she was limping a little up the staircase. She rolled her eyes, and pushed passed him. But, he got back around her very easily. "You have no reason to be up here, Alexandra." He was very cold with his words, piercing them into her. He was getting better at controlling these vampiric emotions when he needed them he realized, and he wondered whether or not that was a good thing.

"I am still a guest, and I left my bag upstairs, if you hadn't noticed. Besides, I have a right to attack you for how you treated my brother." Alex went straight to the attic staircase, and Bryce almost let out a sigh of relief, but he held it in. "Don't worry, the girl doesn't interest me. Although, you'd be best not to get in league with her kind, Bryce. Just looking out for you." The lack of emotion or empathy in her voice made him think otherwise, but he said nothing. As she came and went up and down the stair cases, he sighed with relief each time, knowing that she was not a problem for him right now. Bryce leaned against the wall closest to the bathroom, just waiting for her to finish.

She just smiled knowingly and gratefully at his comment. Again, she would've curtsied, but just didn't have the effort.
She nodded and brought her nightdress and bloomers with her so she could change in the bathroom. It was light, flowy, and almost see-through, so she'd probably need that guest robe anyways.
Joyce smiled and released his hand reluctantly. She turned the shower on and closed the door behind her just as she heard voices. She couldn't tell what they were saying, so she assumed it was Bryce's mother. She had the water on slightly cold because she was used to the freezing lake. She turned it up a little but though, and the warmer water was simply delightful. She smiled to herself, and gently washed out the cut on her neck, and let the suds slide down her scarred back. They didn't sting anymore, though her neck throbbed and pulsed like an open wound. It was an open wound, really, but at least it was only a deep cut. It'd heal. It was weird, taking a shower in someone else's home. She was almost positive this was against the rules, too. But she couldn't care less.

She took about fifteen minutes in the shower, running the shampoo through her hair and washing her face. Her hair was so flat that it didn't need to be combed through anyways, she just ran her fingers through it and found, as usual, there weren't knots. Her hair was fairly thick, but stick-straight. She towel-dried it so it wasn't sopping, and dried off with the towel. She put on her short bloomers, long nightgown that was almost to her ankles and was a sheer, cottony white, the one she had been wearing in the lake, and the bath-guest-robe on over it.

She stepped out into the hall again, her hair, now that she was standing up, fell to her knees. It was all one length, not layered or anything, and it looked immaculate on the bottom, every strand of hair the same length, none sticking up.
"Thanks." She said, curtsying a bit, not too low or she was sure she'd fall over she was weak, but her hair skimmed the floor as she bent her knees, right foot infront of the other. As she stood up though, she lost her footing a little, and almost instinctively grabbed Bryce's hand for support as she stood up.
"Sorry..." She said flushing. Parker'd drained all her energy when he sucked out all that blood.

When Joyce had come back out, he smiled to see that the shower must have helped her. He could feel the steam of the bath come out, although there was not a ton. It was enough for him to long for a shower himself, but he could wait until Joyce was settled under the care of his mum while he washed, since he didn't trust anyone other than his mum right now. She came out, and she curtsied, but he instantly reached out to her, watching her stumble forward toward him. "My lady, you are far too weak for that right now. Maybe some food will help you regain some strength. My mum should probably check that... for you." He said the first part with a bit of humor in his voice, treating her like a care-taker would. He held her up, and pulled her in for a hug, then let himself loop around her and take her arm to head down the stairs. He wasn't sure whether or not he could acknowledge the bitemarks, since he knew it was part of his very own nature, but they weren't from him, so he had nothing to be guilty of, right? Wrong. He still brought her here, he still didn't watch carefully enough, and he still put her at risk with his vampiric family being around. The least he could do now was be sure that she was getting the best care she could.

Bryce led her down the stairs, knowing it was probably safest around his mum right now. He came to the kitchen to find her drinking coffee and reading a wizarding newspaper. "Joyce!" She said in a sleepy voice. She took a sip of her coffee, and set it down, gulping it up. "Sorry, muggle habit I couldn't break." She set her newspaper down and came over to the table in the joining dining room. "Feeling any better? How about I whip up some pancakes, or corn muffins or something?" she suggested, leaning on the table right across from the two of them. Bryce smiled, nodded just slightly, knowing he was actually hungry for human food. But, he was also going to have to take blood shortly if he didn't want to snap. He could get some when he went to shower on his own.

In the meantime, Bryce took a seat at the table, pulling out a chair for Joyce as well. He wanted her to be comfortable, which was why he wanted her downstairs, away from where all the comotion occured yesterday. "Mum, would you come check out her... you know, for Joyce's sake? You said that your new ones healed fairly well, correct?" He could remember a conversation that he listened into with his mum and his grandmum while he had no choice but to visit her. That was the first and last time he went, though, since Bryce freaked out when his grandmum brought out stake, and the blood-lust got to him severely. He remembered, though, that his mum had said that her new ones healed, but when she didn't mend the ones that had been sitting there, that was when the scars were left there. She had so many of them, and even muggle makeup didn't hide them very well, although they did attempt at it. But, that was why there were enchantments on the house to trick the eye. There was still not approved spell to do on a human, but a house with the spell cast upon it would hide her scars, along with some other things that Natalie wanted hidden about herself.

"Yes, my new ones did heal, but Lucifer... he was never that brutal with me, hun. I can imagine that... well, she's going to have a little bit of scaring. Not too much though. Just a little mark." Natalie was almost willing to go outside just to show Joyce an example. She had no makeup on yet, so the scaring was pretty horrid to look at, but it would just be an example so she knew. For all Natalie knew, Bryce could have shown her and told her about everything. That would have been something, for Bryce to talk about Natalie because he wanted to. Natalie started to check the wound, seeing that the potion was starting to wear off, probably from the shower that Joyce had obviously just taken. But, that was no matter. Natalie would just splash another few potions on her neck, and put a bandage over it, and she would be good to go. "After breakfast, I will definitely look at that again and finish what I started last night." Bryce nodded, and had nothing else to say. Hopefully that would be enough reassurance for her that things would be alright, and maybe help her mind strengthen a bit more. He only could hope.

"Do you.. feel any better?" He was just looking out for her, and he hoped that she was feeling better, enough for him to go get cleaned up and drink some blood. The circles under his eyes were getting bigger and darker, sinking into his skull and actually hurting him after last night. He would have to replenish soon. Even Natalie was picking up on that, and she almost came to him and forced him to go upstairs, but she knew he would handle it very well and take care of himself, hopefully.

Joyce nodded but didn't really say much. Oh, crap. She'd forgotten her bonnet...still, she wasn't so clean and perfect anymore. She nodded her thanks to Bryce's mother, she felt too tired to get up and curtsy. She was a bit dizzy, light-headed. She remembered how badly the potion stung and was grateful Bryce was here for her. She sighed silently and put her hand to her neck for a moment, her finger gently prodding it. Yep, it was deep. She'd have a scar, which would raise questions, it was on her neck, and a young woman shouldn't talk about her past.

She quickly removed her hand and looked at Bryce with her pale face, deep brown eyes looking all the more striking now. She smiled faintly. She was smiling quite a bit, weak smiles, just glad to be alive.
"Much better...just a bit dizzy." instantly and silently scolding herself for complaining. Part of her was curious as to where Parker was, to where Bryce's father was. But another part of her truly didn't want to know. If she ever saw parker again...ugh. It was odd to think that in her 14, almost 15 years, that was the closest a boy had ever been to her. Bryce, of course, she'd hugged, but it was in proper context. Technically, if she was honest with herself, she knew that 'going that far', really letting a man hold you, carry you, all that (except with Bryce, after all, she'd been passed out or injured all the times he did so it didn't really count..), it meant Parker really should be courting her to be allowed to do that. It's not like she wanted that, never. But her head just hurt all the more thinking about that.

Bryce could feel the lack of blood start to hit him more severely, although it had only been another few minutes. He was concentrating on it, which was why it felt much worse than it really was. Or. well, maybe it really was that bad, and he should have gone to fix his problem already. Bryce knew that he should have gone, but he just couldn't leave Joyce here, even under the watchful eye of his mum. But slowly, he was being drawn into the nasty effects, feeling the vile seep into him. Bryce just wanted to run upstairs really quick, but could he let himself do that? He had to.

"I... I'm going to go take a very quick shower and change, okay? I'll be back really fast!" Bryce put a hand on Joyce's shoulder for just a moment, and the walked away, running when she was out of sight as he was on the stairs. He came to the shower and hopped in, letting the water rinse him off as he scrubbed himself quickly. Then, he hopped out, drying off and walking to his room in just his towel. Then, he threw on a fresh pair of jeans and a shirt, drying his hair quickly, combing through it, and heading back to the top of the stairs. That was when he saw it. His father was coming up the stairs of the basement. "Dad, where is Parker?" He asked in a very hushed tone so he wouldn't alert anyone else.

Lucifer hardly looked up, and he just shrugged. "Probably back home by now. He was really mad about that stunt you pulled last night." Lucifer didn't look at him, nor did he stop walking as he spoke. He just kept moving to the kitchen, where his mum was cooking. Bryce, at that point, remembered the reason he came upto his room in the first place. He ignored what his father said, since it was Parker's fault in the first place, and he went to a drawer on his desk. He pulled out a box with blood viles, and he opened one, drinking it down very quickly in order to let the blood seep into him more quickly, soothe him and relax him faster. He then left again, and walked down to the kitchen and dining room, where his father had been standing, watching Joyce. "Quite the nasty mark he left there, might I say. Nothing compared to some of the ones I've left on others, but still, it is still quite de-" At that moment, Natalie walked out, wand in her hand and pointed straight at Luce.

She poked it against his chest, and stared in his eyes. "Out. Now." Lucifer was never the type to listen, let alone be bossed around. He was never fazed by her wand-pointing, and so he just stood there. "I swear, Luce. Move, or I will cast. Just like the first time." Those last five words flashed across his eyes, and he left the room slowly, without saying anything. At that moment, Bryce took the time to come sit next to Joyce, kicking himself mentally for thinking he could actually leave without something happening. Bryce pressed his forehead against the table, embarrased by his family and the way they treated eachother. It was almost as if Joyce's family and Bryce's family were completely different, but yet, oh so similar. They could have been from parallel worlds.

Joyce sat there, running her fingers through her flat hair when Lucius walked in. She shuddered at his words and stared at the floor, wishing she could turn invisible. She almost let out an audible sigh of relief when he left, but managed to say quiet. When Bryce got back and pressed his forehead to the table, she looked down at him and smiled slightly. She opened her mouth, but she couldn't bear to ask the question, where was parker? All she remembered was a crack, and he was gone, Bryce carrying her. Truthfully, it was odd. Parker should technically be courting her after touching her like that. If her mom knew, she'd probably disregard the vampire thing and say rules are rules. She vowed to never tell this to her family. She was kinda confused, really. But she knew she wished more than anything that she'd never have to see him again. After all, she was a victorian, old-fashioned girl. He of all people must know the old-fashioned morals, know how 'improper' it had been. Her mind reeled a bit.

At that moment, Bryce's mom left and walked back in with the potion for her neck. She took a deep breath to compose herself and put her hair behind her neck to expose the deep, throbbing, angry scarlet cut. Really, it wasn't even two little bite marks like you'd picture. But a deep, long scarring wound. Of all the luck...
she gritted her teeth and the potion stung but she did her best to stay quiet. She only let a small whimper out and squished up her eyes, gripping Bryce's hand with her weak arm to keep her from falling, falling, falling.

Without you, the breeze warms, the girl smiles, the cloud moves.
Without you, the tides change, the boys run, the oceans crash.
The crowds roar, the days soar, the babies cry, without you.
The moon glows, the river flows, but I die, without you.

When his mum came back into the room, Bryce sat up instantly, feeling Joyce put her hand in his. He used his other hand to keep her steady, unconsiously wrapping it around her small waist for balance. She kept her composure pretty well, although he almost kind of wished she would just fall against him, something for him to hold onto. He found a strange comfort in holding her, and it was becoming a strain and painful not to hold her. It was like a new drug for him, something that soothed him almost as well as blood did, but this soothed his mind.

Bryce watched his mum wrap up what she was doing, and he let his hand slide off of her, after finally realizing where he had placed it, being very improper. "Are you alright?" he asked, hoping that she wasn't about to pass out. He didn't think that he would be able to deal with that again. It would drive him insane, most likely. His mum gave him such a strange look, as if she was starting to get confused by his actions. She had never seen him be so good for so long. Even before when he acted innocent, it was only acting. Now, it was the real him, and she was getting used to it, but not quickly enough. Bryce hadn't realized it, but he still kept Joyce's hand in his. He squeezed it lightly, smiling in her direction and hoping to catch her beautiful eyes in the process. They were like looking glasses, ones that you couldn't tear your eyes away from.

Without you, the ground thaws, the rain falls, the grass grows.
Without you, the seeds root, the flowers bloom, the children play.
The stars gleam, the poets dream, the eagles fly, without you.
The earth turns, the sun burns, but I die, without you.

"Yeah." Joyce said, trying to sit up a little straighter. She pushed her long hair out of her eyes, it was long enough to sit on by quite a bit. She breathed heavily for a moment, then smiled at Bryce and thanked his mom as she put pancakes in front of them. Mmmm...smelled delicious. She used her fork and knife like the proper little girl she was and did her best not to glance at Bryce too often. After all, she really needed to go back to her bonnet and being proper once she felt a bit better. But, as Bryce said..it was okay to let go this time. No judgement.
She was finishing up and handed Natalie her plate. But just as Bryce's mom walked into the kitchen to clean up the dishes, someone else walked in.
Parker.

Her eyes grew twice as wide at the sight of him, and he approached them, looking sinister. He wanted to finish what he started? Just eat? What...why...
She had to clap her hands to her mouth to stop herself from screaming or vomiting, but that didn't erase the fear in her eyes. She saw parker glance at the mark on her neck. He was only a few feet from them. She slid her chair closer to Bryce with each step that parker took towards them, eyeing Joyce, almost hungrily. (hope you don't mind me saying this). Was he so overcome with bloodlust that he'd attack her again? Would Lucifer support his actions? As if in response to this thought, she could've sworn she heard footsteps from the attic.
Alexandra?
Lucifer?
Her head reeled and spun again and she whimpered slightly, like a dog in pain. Finally, when he was simply too close for comfort, she grabbed Bryce as if it were a tight hug, and buried her head in his chest. She didn't cry, she didn't scream. She felt like she'd gone mute. She was shaking, but not as bad, now that she was in his arms. After a moment's pause, she just whispered under her breath in a trembling voice that she knew parker would hear;
"Just don't let go just don't let go of me, Bryce just please don't let go, promise me you'll never ever ever let go..."

Bryce was glad that Joyce was alright with the potions and such being spilled onto her neck. He knew they must not have been comfortable, but it was much, much better than the alternative. Infections and dying didn't seem like the best way to go. But then again, did getting attacked and killed by a vampire seem much better? He did eat half of a pancake, since it was put in front of him. Sweet wasn't really his style, although pancakes were not that sweet. It was still carboyhydrates, which basically meant sugar, and that never did well in his system. It was something to do though, so he managed to eat enough and push it away before his mum came in and asked him to eat. She always made him eat, which was still a blessing. If she didn't make him, no one would, and his human side would just die. That would mean that he would be dead, and nothing would be able to help him.

Bryce handed his mum his plate, and stood up to help when Parker came up the stairs. He was standing right behind his chair, and he could sense the fear radiating from Joyce now, and he wanted anything to calm her down. Parker was here though, and he was just causing more problems than necessary. Bryce put a hand on her shoulder and rubbed it gently. His mum was in the next room, so nothing could possibly happen, right? "Parker." His voice was a little on edge, and it was more of an acknowledgement than a welcome. If his mum heard him, she would be out in the dining room before he could even say anything, let alone try something.

But, she didn't. Parker stepped closer, not really smiling. He looked angry, one emotion that vampires did feel frequently. Bryce didn't want to provoke him, so he just stood next to Joyce as she sat there. Parker did have nerve, though, and he took a seat across from the two of them at the table. "Morning, pests." There was a slight shadow on Parker's nose, indicating that the punch and crunch they all heard last night had broken his nose. Vampires healed and broke differently than humans. It was a surprise that there was even a visable bruise. Bryce didn't question it though. They all just sat there, on edge, waiting for something to happen.

Bryce took a seat, not seeing any type of threat anymore. Parker was still aggrivating, but he was sitting, and he was obviously trying to be civil. "I think you should leave, Parker." Bryce said, very calmly. He didn't want anything to start up again, but he knew that it was inevitable in this particular family. Parker scowled a bit, but a smirk came across his face. Bryce didn't like this feeling.

"Maybe you should leave, Bryce. And take your little wizarding friend with you." Bryce didn't so much as twitch when he heard Alex speaking, but he did want to turn around and grab her. She was right behind Joyce, practically breathing down her neck. Something had come over the both of them, and something told Bryce this wasn't going to be pretty. Alex had a terrifying smile on her face, something that Bryce had only seen a few times before. She wasn't one to smile often, especially around family. "I think I'm going to have a chat with your mum, Bryce. Keep Parker company, now." Alex left, and Parker stood up, smirking still. Bryce stood up when he did, waiting for him to move around the table in a certain direction.

"You've caused me a lot of trouble. Bryson. I think you owe me an apology. And I think your little witch here owes me one too." He was a mere six inches from Bryce now, his smirk gone. Bryce had his hand wrapped around his wand from his back pocket, waiting to strike. Parker looked around to Joyce, wondering what she would do next. "Your father is rather angry with you, I must admit. He didn't like having to heal his own nephew that had been attacked by his own son." Parker's face was an inch or so from Bryce's, the iron smell of blood laced his breath and caused Bryce to go on edge even more. He took a step back, hitting the side of Joyce's chair. Something told him that this was going to end badly.

When Joyce's chair was hit, she let out a whimper. She couldn't believe her ears, what was happening. She knew she shouldn't have come now, and she looked up at Bryce with watery eyes as if to say; 'I'm so sorry to have done all this.'. It was all her fault. Just her presence had tempted Parker to attack her...all her fault. She needed to make it right. She shuddered, and decided she wasn't going to sit here and cower. She sat up carefully, and looked at Parker with watery eyes.

"If...if you're upset because Bryce has broken vampire tradition, well..." She gulped, trembled slightly and looked down at her shoes.
"You...you have broken tradition as well."
She was grateful Alex, Natalie, and Lucifer were gone. This was a matter between her and Parker. Still...she needed Bryce there because she knew Parker may very well attack her after what she said.
"By you placing your hands on me in such a matter...we should have been...you should have been courting me. What you did was tantamount to rape."
She looked unnerved by her own daring.
"That is to say, you should have been intending to marry me. If...if you don't like me causing trouble here, breaking traditions and being friends with Bryce, causing him to attack you, then...."
She looked at Parker's face for a moment before glancing back down.
"That is to say...we are even."

her face was hardly a foot from Parker's. He could bite her again, he could do anything. She was shaking horribly, her face pale and her hair framing her face. She glanced at Bryce's foot, not being able to look him in the eyes, just wanting to know he was there. He would always be there.

There was something in Parker's eye that sparked, and Bryce could see it. His pupil dialated for a mere fraction of a second, and that set off something. Parker pushed Bryce out of the way as Joyce spoke, and his eyes stayed glued to her mouth, waiting for her to say something else. Rules? Tradition? What the hell was all of this? He listened carefully though, waiting to break that bit of courage she had inside of her. "Joyce, I appreciate what you're saying, but you're such a fool." His face was inches from hers, and Bryce was afraid that if he moved, Parker would be ontop of Joyce, snapping her bones. Bryce's heart started to pound, as he started to remember something about Vampire tradition. There was something he forgot about making a family member hault while they are feeding.

"Parker, please get away from her. I swear to God that I will curse you if you don't move away from her right now." His voice was cold, and very serious. He wanted Parker away from her right now, before he got any ideas. Parker was staring at the battle wound on Joyce's neck, being so tempted to bite her right then and there. But he couldn't. That was against Lucifer's rules. There was no blood drinking allowed while Natalie was in the next room. The only place that rule didn't apply was in the basement.

Parker stood up straight, and Bryce wedged himself between Parker and Joyce. Parker stepped back, his brow furrowed in anger. "You're in the way a lot lately, aren't you?" Parker could remember when they were friends, more than just relatives. And now Hogwarts had to go and change him. It was no wonder that wizards got killed easily by a vampire. They became weak entering that school. "Aren't you forgetting a rule, Bryce? It's the one that states that when you pull me away like that away from who I'm feeding, you have to feed off of her yourself? Or do the Patel rules no longer apply to you?" Bryce froze on the spot, and Parker smirked quite maliciously. This was going to be interesting. This rule was created long ago to prevent meaningless violence among the crew. In ancient times, pulling a vampire away while they fed meant that either you wanted that victim to feed on for yourself, or you wanted to attack that other vampire. Vampires didn't share, ever, so they fought for what they wanted. Why they didn't make a compromise, who knew? But that was the rule, and it had to stay that way.

Bryce knew that it was a Patel rule, and that if his mother were to be two rooms away, Lucifer could make him do it at any time. It was that, or he be killed. "I... No, you.. You disobeyed my command!" Bryce knew that if Parker fed on Joyce against his wishes, it was no longer valid. Unless...

Parker didn't seem fazed. In fact, he laughed "I was only listening to Lucifer's orders. Now you have no choice." Bryce was paralyzed. Now he was in trouble.
