Turq poured herself and Rina some juice, sliding the glass across the counter to her before turning to face Tino.
"And I do really write...sadly I am not musically inclined enough to put my words to music though. I'm a wannabe poet at heart."

Tino smiled and said almost sardonically, "We could be a gimmick band. 'The Mutations.'" He almost wished he hadn't said that, though, since any performing at all would be a dream come true. Still, he doubted he could convince the two that the three of them could make it big if they didn't have any talent. He strummed a sour chord, made a face and twisted a knob at the top of the guitar's neck. "I wonder what Aurora does."

Turq made a face at the mention of Aura, remembering the previous night.
"She's an archeologist. She's here to see some artifact Dr. Cain told her he found during construction. I told her the truth but I am not sure she believed me....I didn't stick around to find out. Have you met her yet?"

"Hey... Maybe we coudl start a band!" Rina giggled, having a sip from her apple juice. Her head tilting as she smiled to Tino, he seemed a lot better than he did the day before.

Tino absently began to strum chords from "Dust in the Wind," as he remarked, "I suppose it's good to know I wasn't the only poor soul brought here under false pretenses." He wanted desperately to know why the two women had volunteered for such a fate, but feared that should he not comprehend their reasons, they would turn their backs on him. Instead, he looked back to his guitar without another word.

Turq raised an eyebrow at the mention of forming a band and allowed herself to entertain the idea for a moment before gravity of their situation crushed it. She smiled a little sadly and sighed.
"Who would we perform for? It's not like they're about to give us night passes to go play gigs at the local clubs...."

Tino spoke in his best sterotypical 70's rocker voice, "It's not about the money, or even the fans. It's about the music, man. All about the music."

"For the other people who'll end up coming. I'm guessing there'll be more people... I mean, they're still building apartment blocks and stuff," she replied. Hearing a farmiliar tune, she couldn't help but start humming along, soon, singing along.
"I close my eyes, Only for a moment And the moment's gone. All my dreams Pass before my eyes of curiosity. Dust in the wind: All we are is dust in the wind. Same old song, Just a drop of water In an endless sea. All we do Crumbles to the ground, Though we refuse to see."

Turq frowned at his comment about being brought under false pretenses, unsure if it was intended as a jab at her and Rina for volunteering to come. She opened her mouth to retort but closed it again before actually saying anything. She sighed heavily, wondering if anyone would ever really understand her reasons...or even just believe them. When she finally spoke, her voice was quiet and a little hurt sounding.
"Volunteering to help possibly change the fate of the world doesn't make us bad people, you know....."

He stopped playing immediately, laying his hand across the strings to silence them. He looked quickly at Turq, a hurt expression on his face. "I didn't mean it like that," he said rather loudly, though not meaning to. Tino wanted to be heard, but he wasn't very adjusted to speaking any other way but quietly. He coughed nervously, realizing he might have sounded angry. "I'm sorry. I... I... don't think you're bad people. I just don't know why you would volunteer for imprisonment." As soon as the last word left his mouth, he winced, awaiting a thorough chewing out.

She flinched at the hurt on his face and held up her hands to show she had meant no harm. A spasm of pain crossed her features as she thought about what had brought her here. Would she have to tell all of her new friends her story for them to accept her? Would they even want to be her friend if they knew about what had happened?
"Sometimes...sometimes the only escape is through imprisonment... Before...I was a prisoner of my mind... When they offered me a chance to become someone new, I took it. I would rather be physically locked up the rest of my life than ever go back to being trapped inside my head. This is my new beginning, my second chance..."

Rina tilted her head again, "Imprisonment? Oh... Oh, no no! It's not like that... Well it kind of is but not really..." She started.
She coughed, "It's kinda heard to explain... My dad sold me when I was born, and even though my adoptive father never sent me to work as a slave, he was waiting for the right price... And I met Preston, and I guess he felt sorry for me or something, anyway. He asked me if I wanted to come here, and bought me when I said yes..." She was rambling now. She blushed lightly, deciding it best to just sip at her apple juice.

Looking a combination of slightly ill and slightly overwhelmed, Tino cleared his throat and resumed playing. He had no idea what Turq was talking about and thought Rina had pretty much spilled every secret she had. He knew he had to say something, but nothing seemed okay, much less a good thing to say. He was forced to settle on, "That would make a good song." He then bit his lip and looked down, brushing the hair out of his face so it wouldn't interfere with his strumming.

She gave a slight chuckle, "No doubt, but I'm glad I'm here... Hey, I wouldn't have met you guys if I wasn't, right?" She smiled.

Turq nodded at Rina.
"That's true. No matter what has happened in the past, the important thing is making the best of what we have now."
She grinned at the other girl, recalling their earlier discussion about this.
"And yes, I am aware that that sounded TOTALLY cheesy. It's true though. For better or worse, we are here so we might as well try to enjoy it."
