Minato playfully placed a hand on Mary's head as she looked up at him. "Four," he said to correct her before moving her and himself out of Miu-Lai's way as she made her way out. She was a strange girl, but he shouldn't judge. Maybe the monotone of her voice was just getting to him. Looking back to Gwendolyn, he shook his head as she apologized. "I should be apologizing for my actions there," he said. "I could sense that many of the soldiers sent out were reluctant to be there, doubting the reasons they were sent. The whole thing should've been avoided."

Mary blushed, "Four, sorry." she listened to his comment on the soldiers and looked away, "even they are tired of fighting without a solid reason why they should." she whispered softly, shaking her head. "this needs to be ended, but how do we do so?"

Gwendolyn nodded to Miu-Lai as she left, "be safe my friend." she called after the retreating form. she looked at Minato and Rose and smiled, "i feel the same way. those soldiers are forced to fight even if they feel or even know that what they are doing is wrong." she was still smiling, but only just and her eyes told of unfathomable sadness. "so many lives have been lost for little or no reason. i want to end that as soon as possible, much like you Mary." she closed her eyes and let out a small breath before smiling widely again and stepping forward to put a hand on both Mary and Naty's shoulders. "come, sit, eat, rest. you need it, both in body and soul." she lead the girls to a small fire that was mostly open and had them sit down, leaving it to the others to follow. a pot of stew bubbled over the fire and bowls and spoon lay on a small cloth next to it. "help yourselves. we have plenty." Gwen invited, sitting down and serving bowls for Rose and Naty and small one for Lulu.

Ena had taken a seat on a fallen block far removed for the others " Unwavering loyalty till death , such an unsavory ideal"Ena thought to herself as she dismantled her pistols wondering what had made them soo hot earlier. she watched as lady Gwendolyn led the others toward the fire remided her of how it was before the cardinal had taken over.
Many a time before things became the way they were Ena's father would take her to the royal palace with him and on such occasions Ena had had free access to most of. She was to become her fathers eventual succesor as a Gaurdian of the royal family, one of the long line Southerwinds to take such a position. Now with the wings of solidaridy abolished persceuted of acts of trechery and hersey there was nothing more for her and any remaining to do but hide like vermin.
with a flick of her wrist she closed the breach of one of her pistols the symbological glyphs engraved on it pulsed gently with her movement " a bit better " she said to herself as she closed the other and put them away. she then stood and walked over to van lying near where they had walked in. she looked at his large form and wonderd how it came to be he wo uld become entaped in such an odd body.

Some where UnkownMullen now consicence ,yet sore rose to his feet and washed his bloodied face in the wash bowl next to the bed, dried, fixed his collar and proceeded toward the door.the carpet beneath his feet was plush and the accomoadations were not something he had expected for being handeld so roughly ,still he took no time taking in the vista there was a burning question on his mind , who and what do they want with him.
Much to Mullen's surprize the woman who had viciously assaulted him earlier was the one to guide him, she looked to him and sharply turned her head forward "its not like I had a choice" she said in a sharp biting tone , despite her obvious youth there seemed to be a seething hatered in her. Mullen folowed her down a hall and down a flight of stairs that emptied into a living space once again decadantly furnished. Mullen this time noticed something above the mantle a wreath of steel feathers crossed by a rapier and a halbred he now knew who these people were , this was the former house Southerwind.
The young blonde woman stopped and opped the door to Mullen "He's waiting in there for you " Mullen looked at her and went about his way entering the room. As he enterd he noticed that the floor was bare dirt and dust filled the air outside light filled the room from two lofty windows above. The old man standing next to a large object coverd with a sheet " This is what I wanted you to see my boy" his stoic voice crackled as he coughed slightly. As the oldman pulled the sheet away a device was revealed that could not possibly be of this world was revealed...... Mullen was silent for what he had seen was the mythical clock of the gods

Somewhere Somewhere unknown
Was the clock of the gods what stood before Mullen Kalson or was it a delusion ? The old man spoke " By the look on your face you are amazed no? Yet I have not yet told you what this truly is" the old man walked over to him an slaped him across the face snapping Mullen out of his trance "what was that for !!" he yelled at the old man "Now look before you " the elderly man shouted at Mullen. Before them stood a mirror a plain simple mirror "what did you see my boy ?" the oldman asked.

Miu-Lai paused in her path for a moment as the voice spoke again. "Miu, return to your guardian form. It will be safer for you," it said in her mind. She was a bit confused by this, but nonetheless, she obligingly obeyed the command, taking out her brush and loading it with ink. In a quick motion, she let the ink splatter in an arc onto the wall next to her and across the floor before stepping onto the line and slipping in. Behind her, one of the glyphs seemed to peel itself from the wall and slide into the line after her, making it vanish afterward.
As Miu-Lai reemerged from the ink, she was surprised to find that she wasn't in the tunnels anymore, but instead in what looked like.... "Old Metronome?" she asked curiously as she shifted her weight over the sand and gravel under her pure white paws. Her dull dark eyes skimmed across old buildings, shacks, and what seemed to be an old mansion. But why? What brought her here? She turned her head to look at the glyph as it floated next to her, condensing into a glowing ball of blue light. "Be patient, child. This will all be explained soon." Miu-Lai could've sworn she had seen a familiar face in the orb of light, yet she couldn't be sure. Why was it familiar in the first place?

Minato sighed and nodded, leaning against a nearby pillar as he folded his arms in front of him. He had seen this situation before, a long time ago. Very unsettling indeed. If there was a way to get to the source of this problem, he'd stop at nothing to resolve it. However, the problem at the moment was actually pinpointing it.
"The problem doesn't lie with the ruling power," Miyuna said as she reappeared in front of him, watching Gwendolyn from where she stood against him. She still had a faint bluish tinge to her translucent self. Minato was still slightly amused by how the other featherfolk couldn't see their saint. "As you can tell, Rowan has been gone for quite some time. Gwendolyn, my great grand niece, had lost power as empress to someone else, most likely another in high position."
"That somebody else being the Cardinal," Minato added. "But as of now, we have no clue as to what his intentions are. If he ordered the attack on Dussak, why is he targeting your followers? Is it to prevent any uprisings? And to what extent?"

Gwendolyn sadly shook her head, "i am ashamed to say that i do not know why. perhaps it is just so he can continue to make me suffer. for indeed, with every life lost in my name it is almost as if i can feel it." her hands clasped together and were pressed to his chest. "So many lives have been lost! so much death and pain, and fr what?" she felt the tears and tried to fight them. "for a weak little girl who can't even protect those she loves!" she knew she was going to lose the fight and so turned from them to wipe her eyes. "Forgive me, it is something i have had much trouble with, but also something i must fix on my own." she turned backa nd smiled a little, "And so i do what i can and try to move on. it is all i can do at the moment, but with all of your arrival i have a feeling our fortunes have turned for the better, even if only a little."

Miu-Lai looked turned away from the orb again to look around as something had caught her eye. Everything around her was slightly hazy, and those who were walking around were all dark silhouettes. Silhouettes? She walked a few paces forward into the middle of the street, which now seemed to be a lot busier as more of the wispy dark figures appeared before her eyes. She couldn't smell any of them, but she could see and hear them. She froze as she felt one of them pass through her. Puzzled, she watched as it continued on, not feeling anything, not turning back to see if it walked into anything. "What is this?" she asked. As more "people passed by, she noticed some figures walking by at the far side of the street: a tall man with gray hair, black ears and a tail; and walking at his side was a little girl with shoulder-length jet black hair, also with ears and a tail. Why did they have a solid appearance? Why were they the only ones? She hated being lost and confused. Her dark eyes glared as she turned back to the orb, baring her fangs at it. "Where have you taken me?" she growled at it.
"Look closely, child," it said. "Look closely at the girl, especially. Can you see who she is?" Miu-Lai stopped growling a little, taking the time to look back at the child's small form, draped in what looked like traditional Wolf clothing with ornate ribbons adorning her short hair. What caught most of her attention was the little girl's bright red eyes; they were so full of happiness, glee, and innocence. Curiously, she walked a bit closer, feeling she was somewhat familiar in a way. Miu-Lai's breath caught in her chest as it dawned on her.
She was seeing herself in her past.

Minato looked down at Gwendolyn, slightly alarmed by her outburst. He could see the tears welling up in her eyes. "Why are you crying?" he asked gently. "There are times when you have no choice but to be helpless. You were imprisoned, but if you did anything to help your people now, you run the risk of getting yourself killed." As he unfolded his arms, he placed a hand on her shoulder. "I believe Sano told this to Mary before: You can't get far on your own. Not everybody can. If we are to bring this Cardinal down, I will gladly assist in your plight, Lady Gwendolyn." Across from him and out of the corner of his eye, he saw Miyuna smile and nod in approval. "Saint Miyuna gives her blessings as well."

Gwendolyn's eyes widened slightly, "Lady Miyuna? but how-?" her eyes traveled around the room but saw no one besides the men and women she already knew. "you can see the Saint?" she shook her head and smiled, "You are blessed indeed, my Lord Minato." she nodded slightly at his wisdom, "i know, but it is still hard to sit and do nothing while people are suffering." she looked at Mary and smiled sadly, "i'm sorry to hear that you know what i mean when i say that, Miss Mary."

Mary matched Gwendolyn's smile and looked down, "yes, you and i are much alike in that way, your magesty, but i'm not princess." she laughed softly, "i do know what it feels like to feel as if thousands of lives rest on your shoulders though." Naty reached over and patted Mary's shoulder. "I am here for you as well, my Lady." her eyes locked on Gwendolyn's. "We will all fight for those unable to fight for themselves. that is our purpose in being here, is it not?"

Minato smiled lightly before reaching to his neck and lightly tugging at a small silver chain that hung from it. Attached to it was what looked like one of Miyuna's steel feathers, twisted into a ring. "If she... Miyuna survived that assault on the Torren castle back then, I most likely wouldn't be here now," he said, his eyes fixed on the twisted piece of steel. Of course he wouldn't forget why it was shaped like that. Nor what was engraved upon it. His gold eyes met with Gwendolyn's as he nodded again. "It will take some time, but we'll try to come up with a way to win support back from the people. I'm sure many will turn their eyes from the Cardinal once they find out what he is up to." He turned away a little to look back to Miyuna, who approached him again.
"There may be some who are close to the Cardinal, but may not be completely trusting of him, love," she said, gently placing a hand on his arm. "I may be wrong though, but I am certain that just a short talk with some may make the difference we seek." "Yes, that makes sense... but who to seek out?" He looked up for a moment at the ceiling to think. Most of the higher ups would be well protected in the palace, so going there directly wouldn't be a good idea. He shook his head at the thought. "If we could get someone close to an official to request a meeting with us, like one of the palace servants..." he mumbled. "But the only way to get a hold of one is if they were free-roaming throughout Metronome..." ... Was that girl from earlier from the palace?
