Pale paws clamped to his ears desperately, the mage not used to being talked about so bluntly. He didn't want to hear this, he didn't want to hear this. He should never have left the cabin to search for Rune, he should have stayed put, right next to Kurogane. But like a jittery bird, he had flown off and acted stupid once again. He never meant for it to turn this way, to have the ninja bleeding and fighting. And over what? He didn't understand...
Paws slowly fell away as Fai peered to the others, his mind silently answering everything Damis spat out. All of his own answers were yes, and they stung as they sat unspoken on his tongue. And his eye began to sting with Kurogane's own retorts, hating how truthful he was. Fai never spent a second of his wasted life on truths, and to hear them from the ninja burned him to the core. His mask had never before been challenged this cruelly. And it cracked all the more when Kurogane mimiced Damis' own nickname he had created.
Blindly reaching out, Fai tugged on the nearest thing he could grab. It was one of Damis' flicking tails. "Please.." He passed a desperate glance to Kurogane further ahead. "Please stop now.." They were both idiots...fighting over the biggest idiot of them all. And now, Fai held no masks in hopes of reaching some end for these two.

Damis shifted his pushing into his legs as he grabbed at the other's shoulders, ignoring the pulling on his tails. "What makes you think he has the strength to tell you how he feels? We're vampires! We. SUCK! the quite literal LIFE! out of others. What makes you think that the thought that someone could possibly care for monsters like us exists? We don't think those kinds of people exist!" He pulled back away, angry tears appearing every slightly from the corners of his eyes.
"Even if we love someone, we wouldn't do anything about it. Because we're think we're monsters. The ones who love us, who know we love them back...they have to tell us that. They have to reassure us every day that they love us. That they don't care that we take lives for the sake of our own. We're afraid to love...so we try desperately never to start to..."

Kurogane's eyes turned to Fai momentarily and there was a sudden tug at the back of his mind. He was saying things he usually kept to himself to not hurt the mage more, and as he looked at him now, he knew he was hurting him. He frowned, having the right mind to just leave the argument be and go home now and just go back to sleep. That was until his shoulders were grabbed and his attention was back on Damis.
He snarled, " I cared for him before he was a 'monster,' why would that ever change? And even now I still care for him! I've made that quite clear and he still kept pushing me away!" He snarled, pulling out from under Damis' hands, glaring at him. He hated that having barely met the mage, this damned vamp seemed to know more about him that anyone and it angered him. Angered him that he knew what was going on and angered him that he had become so damned easy to read. He huffed angrily at the ground, unsure of what to say or do next, so he went with glaring at the ground, trying to gather his thoughts.

Fai clenched tightly on the tail in his grasp, both hoping it would hush the other vampire and that it would distract himself from the argument. He didn't have any strength. And he was a monster. Damis was a living and experienced vampire to that claim, and Fai could only imagine he was fated to follow. A being that did nothing more but hurt others for his own sake. Not that he hadn't already been living up to that before. The anguish tone in the anthro's voice didn't pass Fai's ears, and he was near wanting to weep himself.
Except...he was too numb to do so. Too embarrassed and distraught to do so. Because...Kurogane cared for him? Cared for him still. Fai clenched his eye shut from the view of the other, guilty as charged. And even without seeing, Fai couldn't erase away what he heard. All the weight of his actions and his confusions. He had assumed.....wrongly but evasively, that Kuro cared as a comrade. A traveling partner and nothing more. And that's why he pushed, for the safety of everyone's sanity. But in light of this new information, of the ninja's heated defense for and of him, Fai couldn't pretend anymore. He had done more harm than heal, and his guilt was like an over filled bucket of acid.
"Sorry." His paws ached and burned, and he pulled them away slowly to rest against himself. His eye was closed, and his face downturned towards the ground to hide in the shadow of his messy hair. He was exhausted and shaken, all his foundations ever built during his traveling now crumbled into nothing. With a small flick of his paw, the mage etched a glowing language into the air. And with a small breeze of air, he vanished without concern of price for his magic. Gone to rest at the cabin behind closed doors and a flairing migraine.

He could feel the grip on his tails let go. He turned and watched the strange language appear before the blonde disappeared. Obviously he wasn't just a vampire now. He moved away, standing back up onto his legs. He cursed vehemently and this new situation, hands clenched. He turned to Kurogane, a small snarl on his lips. "You better to go him. And you better tell him your damn feelings or so help me, I were personally castrate you." He turned to move away but a thought came him. "Remind him that not all vampires live alone. In the end we do find someone who loves us completely." He turned back around and ran back to the Mountain and prayed that this would make thinks turn out for the better.

Kurogane's eyes went wide as he watched the mage use his magic, disappearing after a muttered apology. Why was he sorry? He ran the events over in his head and cursed under his breath. He had pushed the mage way too far.
His wings stretched open as his muscled tensed for take off, his gaze momentarily resting on Damis as he spoke. The ninja listened, but everything he listed off for him to do had already been in his head. The mage had run away again, and of course he was going to go after, why wouldn't he.
" No castration needed," he muttered before he too took off, gaining enough speed before flapping his wings hard enough to raise himself into the air. He had gotten used to flying, and was grateful, for it would get him faster to where he figured the mage had run off to. It was the only place they had in this world.
