"It was, uh..." Morgan had to think for a moment. "Well, the only one there really, on the Laestrygonia Station, in the Elysium System. The station was a sort of combination of a residential zone and a trade stopover, over near a mining station. It was a good enough place - low crime an' all that - but it was pretty boring." He sighed. "Then again, boring is probably better than this alternative," he added, waving his hand around the general area.

"Oh, I've heard of it." He said, and nodded his head. "And this place is not that bad, I mean so many military professionals live here the crime rate is low enough for a major school area." He smiled. "I'm sorry I can't seem to remember your name," He could not recall if he had been told it or not. He was thinking ,not. But did not want to sound desperate or anything.

"You'd have a hard time remembering something you never heard," Morgan replied with a laugh. "Morgan. Morgan Reynolds." He set his cards down. "I don't mean here, as in the academy itself. I mean that there's... y'know. The war."

"It's nice to meet you Morgan." He said Kindness and a soft heart shinning in his boyish voice. It was clear that he was definitely not cut out for military life, but he cared enough to want to do this. " There has always been war, and the way I see it there will always be something the military wants to fight about, what matters now is keeping people we care about a safe as we can." He sighed and set his cards down as well.

Morgan nodded. "True enough. Doesn't make it suck any less though, right?"

He shrugged. "If you keep a positive attitude you can get though almost anything." He was sickeningly sweet and his blue eyes twinkled. "Thinking only about how much something sucks does no good, try thinking about how you can help." That was what he gotten him this far without crushing his spirits like so many other recruit’s had been. It had gotten him though his mother’s death and ever time his father ignored his accomplishments, as well as every friend he had lost in his constant moving. Jaie was lucky to still have his way of thinking.

"Well, yeah," Morgan replied flatly, as though Jamie's statement had been obvious. "Helping win this war... that's why we're all here, really. I don't see any other reasons."

Jamie shook his head. "I don't think the job I want will necessarily help us win this war." He said and laughed. "What do you want to be?" He was curious. A uniform designer was not really someone a person would normally call upon to make a speech at the end of a long and bloody battle.

"Honestly? A cook," Morgan replied with a smile. His face fell afterward, however. "But since on a ship, everyone fights if we get boarded, I'd want to specialize in close-quarters combat - holding choke points in corridors, that stuff. How about you?"

Jamie looked down. "Don't laugh ok? He said compared to that he would sound like a weakling. "I want to me a uniform designer, and armor specialist." This work involved little to no heavy lifting and even less combat skills. He would be doodling and sewing in his work room his whole career and that sounded comfortable to him.

Morgan managed to maintain his composure. A smile cracking across his face, he managed to answer, "Put plenty of armor on the front for me, then."

Jamie blushed and looked up at him "Do I really look like some one who could hold a gun?" He asked "I want to help and this is the best way I know how." he sat up taller. " If my father knew that's what I'm planning on doing he’d have a heart attack. General Rough? You may have heard of him." He was in the news a lot, kind of like a war hero, and he thought he had inspired his son to become a general too.

"Ahh... I think I know the name, yeah. The FTLnet always had something about a victory here, a success there, but nothing about him has come up in a while?" Morgan asked, letting the other topic drop. He wasn't sure if he was thinking of the right person.
((FTLnet = best idea I had for a faster-than-light interstellar communication system. If we've already named one, I can edit this.))

Jamie shrugged. "Doesn't really matter I suppose. " He said and folded his hands in front of him. "I don't really follow the news, it's to scary for me." He shuttered. He was quick to draw tears and there were so many sob stories he had stopped trying a long time ago. "Why do you want to be a cook?"

Hoping the men would start ignoring her, Rhiannon returned to her book, reading it quite thoroughly, despite the outdated technology, some of the military tactics contained within the books were still quite viable, which, added with the entertainment value, made these novels a perfect choice.
