Masu was listening to kahten explain, he nodded, he was actually understanding some of the stuff
HE followed with his eyes, trying to make the stuff sink in

Kahten looked out the window and realized the time. He closed the scrolls. "Do you get it?" he asked a bit sternly. He had other work to attend to, if He didn't get his reports to the pahroah before nightfall he'd be in trouble.
Masumi had earned a bit of respect from him, but not much yet. He still felt that Tasu would make a better pharoah, but if Masumi worked a bit harder, he might beable to be decent compitition.

Masu nodded without making eye contact
Then he did something he never did before
he thanked him
"..thanks.." he mumbled
He wasnt used to thanking people, and he didn't know why but he thanked kahten, and it almost surprised even him

Tasu turned away quickly and headed back to his room. He didnt want to talk to Kahten anymore. He got to his room and sighed. He walked over to his bed where a cat was sleeping so he sat and lightly pet the cat.

"Just don't waist so much of my time tomarrow." Kahten's voice was harsh, but lighter than it usually was. He was tired. He got up and walked out of the room without even looking at Masu.
As he walked back to his room he groaned. "Damn brat," He sighed, "How the hell am I going to get all that work done by sundown?"

Masu looked over the scrolls one more time before going over to his bed and sitting down. He wished he had something, anything, he could spend his time with.
His brother got a cat for aceing all his scripture classes, but he got nothign for excelling in fighting. He sighed and lay down on his bed. Maybe he could get a grade higher and his parents may rethink it, until then he would just try to keep up.

Tasu sighed and pulled his clothes off then laid down under the light sheet on his bed. "Another day done..."

Kahten toyed with the tought of asking his star pupil Tasu to help. When he reached the boys door the lights were off though. He peeked in and saw that he was resting. Kahten shut the door again. What was he doing asking a boy for help? This was his work, he'd do it, alone.
Kahten walked back to his room and sat down on the floor. He pulled several scrolls towards him, grabbed a pen and went to work.

Masu yawned and decided to go to sleep
There was nothing else he could do
Turning out the lights he slid into bed, and watched the moon through his balcony window, trying to fall asleep looknig at teh lights of the twon below

Tasu saw his teacher come by for a moment then walk away. He got up quickly then put a robe on and ran out of his room. He went to Kahten's room then knocked on the door lightly.

Kahten snapped his head up from his work. He saw Tasu and nodded for him to enter. "Did you need something Tasu?"

Kahten ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. "No, no, I was going to see if you'd like to get extra credit, but it's late." He looked at the stack of scrolls next to him still unfilled. He was all for using people to get power, but not to do his own work. That was his responsibility.
