Morgan thought carefully about the unicorn’s request. She had a book of poetry with their original Latin in a column next to the English translation, but that was it. She found it under a volume about Frida Kahla (how it got there was a mystery to her) and offered it to him.

“This is all I’ve got, sorry. Most of my books are in English or Italian…”

At this point she saw the sphinx carrying the over friendly naga, who looked to be unconscious, if not dead. Morgan quailed. His shoulder was bleeding like crazy and she wasn’t the greatest with handling blood. Clearly, the situation called for a doctor, but who could possibly help a snake man? A fuzzy part of her brain wasn’t even sure if she should call a surgeon or a vet, but she knew neither would be a good idea. People had known what these beings were and tried to kill them, and her just for being in the way. She couldn’t trust anyone. She had little beyond a bandage meant to wrap a twisted ankle, which was next to useless in this situation. She got it out anyway, feeling about as helpful as a moose presiding over a brain operation.

A sudden realization hit her like a truck. “If you’ve all been stone for over a thousand years, how did those people know where you were and that you were going to… er… come to life tonight?” The idea led to an even darker realization. Even here, in her cramped but obscure apartment, they may not be safe.

The hydraulics of his appendages sounded as they pushed his mechanical fluids from one part of him to another, allowing him to stand up from his fall. Still leaking oil from both the wound at his side as well as his chest, Nanashi relieved one of the mannequins of its attire, tearing the cloth so that it could be used to wrap around his wounds. These would have to do for now to help cease the flow of oil until he could get back home and treat the damages properly.

As the blonde began tying the knot on the cloth he had wrapped around his abdomen, he began speaking in his same, monotone voice, “Have you decided on one of the creatures?” Although there appeared to be no one else alive in the room save for Saga, Nanashi’s question did not seemed to be directed towards her. Speaking instead to the shadows and the to a presence so stealthy it could have otherwise gone unnoticed had it not been for Nanashi’s direct confrontation of it, Nanashi waited for an answer from another of his master’s servants.

Scanning the room with robotic eyes, the cyborg nonchalantly observed the dead men that now littered the floor. “I will handle the destruction of any evidence that you were present here, Saga.” After all, it would not do for one of his partners to be troubled by the police. Being a cyborg, he had nothing to fear about the human police tracking him down as a suspect for this massacre and robbery. “Tomorrow night may prove an opportunity for you to exact your revenge on the lineage that has cursed you. My master already explained to you the ancestry of the human girl the creatures escaped with.”

Continuing to scan the room until he found what he wanted, Nanashi walked purposefully towards a piece of paper with hand-drawn writing on it. Tearing it from its place, the cyborg held it up for the enchanted woman to see, his face ever deadpanned and apathetic as he continued to speak, “Finding their whereabouts will not be an issue. Master has offered whatever supplies or men you will need for the operation.”

Left. Right. Right. Straight.
His hand was clamped tightly over his wounded shoulder as Oberon hobbled as quickly as he could with the last bit of his strength toward Morgan’s apartment. “Almost there,” he breathed to himself.
Oberon’s focus blurred for a minute or two and righted itself once more. “Must. Get. To. Unicorn,” he panted stumbling up the stoop of the apartment. What a battle that was. The satyr’s stamina and strength were very weak now.
He made his way in to the lobby and stumbled up the stairs as best he could. “Artemis!” he choked out breathlessly as his mind clouded. What apartment number was it again? “Artemis!” he shouted again.

Saga stalked the room, still irritated that the boy had possessed the arrogance to throw the battle. At least there had been some damage done to the other side, though she hadn't even had the chance to draw blood. Not from their marks, at least. Steve didn't count towards that, as he had obviously been severely mentally impaired like his friends, most of whom had managed to get themselves killed.

She examined the carnage idly, ignoring Nanashi's conversation. There was little to say to the child, and even the corpses in the room were more interesting. Destroying evidence? How sweetly naive of him, as if she was on any record. As if any immortal woman who spent most of her time as a bear would allow that. No, let him waste his time.

The human girl. She had barely noticed a human. There had been too many people, drowning in scents she recognized from long ago. Now that he mentioned it, though, there was an earthy humanness to the entire place, with a quiet note of a different sort of magic, a metallic smell, like sparks or ozone. It wasn't strong enough to follow, but more than strong enough to confirm her master's tale. The human girl was the key to breaking her bonds. Her annoyance grew at this. The girl had been under her nose. Perhaps she had even visited her very enclosure and laughed at the bear antics. She would pay.

This master of his was proving to be somewhat useful, or at least accommodating. She turned to the surviving henchman, looking at him blankly. He had survived, which meant he had some sort of competence.
"You managed to keep yourself alive. Good. You will fetch the girl. Organize an operation." she instructed, playing with Steve's limp hand with her foot, "You fail, you die."

Artemis took the book offered to him delightfully, “Thank you, kindly. I’m sure this will do fine.” He even offered the virgin a smile. However, his attention was drawn to his comrades that had entered the apartment.

His eyes widened a bit. How on earth could this poor kid have gotten so injured? Wasn’t there supposed to be someone keeping an eye on him? What poor planning and execution! Now he’d have to scrub the floor for the dear miss. The unicorn quickly set the book aside on the arm of the couch and rushed to aid the poor Naga.

“Dandak? Dandak?” he called softly, searching for any sign that the young man could hear him. He placed his hands over his fallen companion’s body and leaned his head close. The small gem on his forehead began to glow a pale blue underneath his silver tresses. His hands began to glow the same color, and very slowly did the wounds begin to close. Unfortunately, he feared the injury would be far too bad to completely heal.

“Morgan…please bring me some of your healing remedies,” Artemis spoke calmly.

At that moment a voice echoed into his ears. Oberon.

Great. Another one was injured. Dandak needed more help, but he couldn’t leave Oberon. The unicorn huffed and rose.
“Do what you can to help, Dandak, I will return,” Artemis instructed. In one swift movement he was up and out the door to follow the scream.

It didn’t take him long to find Oberon lying on the stairs. Artemis shook his head and helped the satyr up the stairs and back into the apartment. Once again the gem glowed and his hands worked their healing magic on the goat man. It was simple enough to heal a wound like Oberon’s, but with the previous amount of healing on Dandak…it was hard to say if he could continue to heal the poor naga.

Artemis went to the snake’s side and watched carefully, panting softly.

Rai found Riina stumbling about down the street and quickly heaved her over her shoulder before taking off after Iian who had not even slowed as The gargoyle messed with the Nymph lady. His leg blazed and throbbed, but he didn't slow.

"Put me down!" Riina called over the roar of rushing air. "I can run." She whined in his ear as she tried to right herself.
Rai smiled to himself in spite of the searing pain and imminent danger."Yes," he chuckled."But not nearly as fast."

He tore through the street after the stone dog, bounding with speeds only reachable by someone of ethereal nature such as himself. He could see of the horizon the coming dawn. The sky was turning a dark purple marking the escape of the sun's rays from it's nightly prison. This read doom to any gargoyle caught on a city street. Rai didn't cease. Instead, he blasted past the dog in an erratic attempt to outrun the sun.

"Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!" He muttered to himself, his body chock full of the emotions expected from a cornered rat.

"Well this is just peachy!" Riina said, her elbow resting on his head and her chin placed in her palm/ "First the attack and now the sun's coming up! Today's really not your day hun."

He chuckled again as he quickly climbed the fire escape of a nearby apartment complex. Iian howled at him to come down, it wasn't the right human dwelling. Rai had other plans. With the sky starting to turn a lighter shade of purple and the globular shape of the morning star peeking over the rim of the landscape, He knew he couldn't make it to this morgan girl's apartment. Iian yowled at Rai for wasting time.

Once on the roof, he plopped Riina down and told her to sit and stay. He walked over the edge of the roof and called down the Iian.

"I'm sorry old friend. I have to stop here." He called, feeling the emerging warmth of morning setting in and the stone of his body solidifying. "I have to stop here. Tell Bryson I can't outrun the sun. Tell him to try and find us tonight. And, tell him I'm sorry."

He limped and stumbled over to where he left Riina sitting. His joints were starting to be encased in granite making it hard for any movement. He jaw was now sealed, so speech was out of the question.

Riina looked up at him sympathetically, patting the ground next to her. Rai fell face first into the dirt beside her. With all her strength, the nymph flipped her man over so he could face the sky. He looked at her with eyes screaming for her to go, but she stayed put and smiled.

"I'm not leaving." She smiled again inching her nose even closer to his. "Besides, Who's going to watch out for you while you sleep?" She kissed him lightly then lay by his side. Watching as the sun burst across the earth.

If you p***k us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die?

Bursting out the back door, Bryson felt a rush of relief as the cool night air settled on his skin. Although, after a moment, the feeling of relief faded into anxiety. This was not the night air of home. This was foreign and strange…the air here was thicker and heavier. The smells in this new land was almost nauseating. But there was no time to think of that now, right now, they had to get back to the rest of the clan.

Having seen Jamiya take Dandak to safety, the leader of the clan glanced at his two gargoyle companions as he nodded in agreement to Raizou’s question of his faithful hound. “C’mon boy. Lead us ‘ome.”

Grateful that it was the dead of night and not many humans were about, Bryson was still surprised by how many people still wandered the streets. Although he would have liked to travel by the rooftops of these gigantic buildings, he knew Iain’s nose needed to be close to the trail that their friends had gone.

While following the gar-dog, Bryson’s ears perked up at the sound of a woman’s pleas for help, muffled by something blocking her mouth. Turning his gaze to Raizou, the redhead’s eyes narrowed, “Du ye hear that?” Pausing in the running gait that the gar-dog had set as their pace, the leader of the clan began to walk towards one of the alleyways between the buildings. “’Old on Iain…Ah hear a lass in need ‘o help.”

Within the ill-lit alley way was another of the city’s infamous mugging scenes. Although the space between the buildings was no more than a few feet, allowing for a dumpster to be placed in the middle for the buildings to use, three persons fit in the tight quarters. Sitting slumped against the brick wall of the building looked to be a young man in his early twenties. With his clothes smudged with grime and blood from the gaping wound in his head, the young man was out of the fight. Standing next to him, whimpering and crying was a woman about the same age, her brunette tresses all in disarray from putting up a fight. Although she was trying to scream for help, the mugger’s hand was placed over her mouth as his free hand held a gun to her neck, the cold steel of it causing shivers down the girl’s body.

“Keep cryin’ p***y. Ain’t no one can hear you. Ain’t no one that cares. Your punk-a** boyfriend over there can’t help you now.” In appearance, the mugger was a man in his thirties, dressed heavily enough in multiple layers of jackets to seem like a non-threatening homeless person. With his hair covered by the hood of his jacket and his face masked in shadow, it was difficult to discern his ethnicity or facial expression. His crude words and scratchy voice however were enough to set Bryson’s blood on fire.

User ImageKevin stood amongst the carnage of his former companions, mouth dry as he let the realization hit that he was actually a survivor. More than that, but he had just fought with gargoyles, unicorns, and a sphinx. Those things were supposed to be the stuff of legend. They weren’t supposed to be real.

And yet, no matter how much he told himself that…there was Carson and Thomas and Max all dead because of those creatures. And Steve…

Kevin watched as Saga poked at the man’s dead body, a feeling of anxiety growing within the man’s chest the enchanted woman spoke to him. Nodding mutely at first, he gulped before breathing out a quiet, “Yes m-ma’am.” Glancing from the blonde woman to the cyborg, Kevin took wary steps towards the robotic man and took the offered map. Clutching a wound he had obtained from the battle, Kevin began making his way out of the basement of the museum, exiting out the same door that the monsters had used just moments ago.

He needed a drink.

Leaving the bodies of his former employees behind would not be an issue. There was no feasible way for simple policemen—even their higher class detectives and investigators—to trace the henchmen back to Nanashi’s master. No family connections and no friends were made aware of this heist and the arrangements…

And even if there was such a problem, Nanashi could easily dispose of them.

Saga however, was not one that his master wanted to be investigated by the human police force. The magical components of her DNA was not something his master wanted the human realm to be aware of if he could help it. Nanashi’s master simply could not have people asking too many questions.

“I remain surprised that you did not seem to realize that woman’s identity.” Nanashi commented off-handedly as his eyes seemed to become enhanced with light. First scanning the floor for any traces that Saga might leave, Nanashi began making mental notes of fingerprints and stray strands of hair. Nothing he could be left behind. “Have your senses waned throughout the centuries?” Remaining completely stoic as he made his query, it was impossible to tell whether the blonde cyborg was joking, honestly curious, or making a sarcastic remark.

Then again, Nanashi never joked. But were androids capable of curiosity or sarcasm?

Saga refused to allow her shame to show. She should have noticed. Excuses were weakness. Perhaps the android was correct. Perhaps she was getting old, her senses dulling irreparably. Not that it had been any loss, it spared her seeing how much or little this girl would look like Ceol and his wife, and with her self-control what it was this evening... It was better this way, with time to collect her emotions and put them out of her mind. Saga needed to concentrate for the moment she had been awaiting, she needed to make absolutely sure there would be no accidents. The manservant would bring the girl soon enough, this girl would break the damned curse, and Saga would finally be able to die with whatever shred of honor she had left."The frail coward? What would I have done with her here, surrounded by noble fools?" she asked, looking at him coolly, arms crossed in a carefully cultivated quiet rage. "No. She will feel true terror, alone and hunted. Any less is too good for her." she added, perhaps a bit too vehemently.

Her skin prickled with goosebumps, making her look quickly at the door.
"The dawn comes. I will need transportation, five pounds of seal, and a ball. At your master's pleasure, of course. she requested, hoping he wouldn't take his time with this one. It was much more difficult to transport a nearly eight foot tall, 475lb arctic bear.
