Morgan shrugged. "Cooking? S'what I'm good at. I enjoy it. It keeps me off of boarding parties. Why not?"

((Realism Killjoy Time Note!
Star Wars would be a terrible source of tactics, because the tactics in it are pretty much already outdated already - the planes ships fly like WWII fighters and battleships, and never account for a 3-dimensional field of combat or shrapnel from exploding ships. In fact, with how the ships have only anti-blaster shielding in Star Wars, its surprising nobody has realized the kind of havoc a single Vulcan could probably wreak.
This concludes the Realism Killjoy Time Note.))

Jamie nodded. "May I ask you a personal question?" He had to ask it was itching his brain. He had to know what was up with the no hair face thing, even if it killed him.

"Go ahead?" Morgan prompted, the cards forgotten.

((You good sir, obviously do not read the books. Go read the X-wing series, or anything by Zahn or Stackpole.))

Suddenly, Her novel ended. Rhiannon, realizing she didn't have the other two in this particular arc in her inventory, flipped around to an old favorite. Still from the Starwars fiction, It was a novel focused on fighter tactics, something that she found neccessary, being a hopeful fighter pilot. She browsed her Datapad, cursing herself for having buried the files on some obscure directory rather than organizing everything into folders.

((I confess, I haven't - I tend more towards harder sci-fi like Herbert, Heinlein, and Asimov.
But I've read about some enormous retcon wars some of the different authors have had. xd

Also, random edit-in: I've played the X-wing and TIE fighter games. Those were FREAKING AWESOME.))

{Manga-freak-says-whaaa?}

"Umm, why do you ...." He brushed his hand over his own chin. He had yet to grow stubble or even peach fuzz for that matter, just adding to his boyishness. “Well…you know.” He did not want to say it out loud or embarrass him by accident, but it was really interesting.

Tired of standing up, Rhiannon sat down on the pavement. from this level she could see that there were a few other card games going on, as well as one recruit just sleeping on the ground. Obviously, they had a wait of some sort ahead of them, and, with no instructors around at the moment, the Academy students were starting to act like children again.

((Herbert: Writer of the Dune series
Heinlein: Author of Starship Troopers and many other books
Asimov: Writer of Foundation, etc., series))

"Ah, that?" Morgan asked, becoming a bit self-conscious. "I don't like having the facial hairs. They just bug me, even when I take my trichitillomania meds." Seeing the blank expression on Jamie's face, he went into detail. "If I don't take a pill once a month, I start to get a compulsion to pull hairs out. It's a genetic thing. But even with them, I hate having facial hair. It just... irritates me to have them. So I have an adjustable-magnification mirror and a pair of tweezers in case I notice a hair coming in."

Jamie nodded and blushed embarrassed. "sorry I don't mean to make you uncomfortable. Thank you for sharing." He could not help but see if he himself hand a mustache yet...His hand bushed over his face. no. He sighed. A mustache would really help with his masculinity problems or so the thought.

"S'fine," Morgan replied, picking up his stack again. "Keep going?"

"Okay everyone, on your feet," the instructor bellowed as he walked out of the shuttle port, "Line up while you're at it."
He waited just long enough for everyone to line up before continuing on.
"Alright, here is the deal. Your belongings have been hauled to your dorms, and now we are going to head to the dorms as well to get you all situated into your rooms. So form up behind me, and don't fall behind."
With that the instructor set off at a brisk pace down the road leading towards the dorm buildings with the new students in tow. It took a little less than ten minutes to get to the buildings. There were six dorm buildings in all, each one with four floors and each floor had twenty rooms that could house two students each.
The instructor stopped the group in front of the second building. "This building here is called Donovin Hall, it is one of the six Halls which are named in honor of important figures in history. This one is named after the man who is known as the 'Father of the Starfighter'. The first one in line there is Filmoor Hall, named after the founder of this academy; the third one is named Marybelle Hall, named for the woman first intergrated shielding units onto singular starfighters; the fourth one is Penet Hall, named for the man who led the first colonization mission to an extraterrestrial planet; the fifth is Lewis Hall, named for a past student who fought gloriously and died galantly in the counter-offensive against the Drathonians over the planet Terra; and the last one is Kerning Hall, named for Marcus Kerning who was probably one of the if not the best pilot to walk the halls of this academy, he met with an untimely end during a test flight. You students will be staying in Donovin Hall, now go take a look at the board to find out your room number."

Steven eagerly went to the board to find out his room assignment. He was in room 301 with some guy named Morgan. Without skipping a beat he went inside the building to settle into his new room, and just barely heard the instructor as he told everyone to meet him back downstairs in 30 minutes.

[[poor brain-rotted manga freak. And I haven't read it, but foundation? That s#!ts HEAVY. Also, kai, it's the 41st century or summat. Your datapad has a search program.]]

Starting to get really wrapped up in the hysterics of his book, James went into a spell of laughter so hard he suddenly got vertigo and toppled over, landing most unpleasantly upon the girl who had been reading Star Wars behind him. On the way down he smacked his noggin against hers, and as he rolled away from her he pressed a hand to the tender spot on the back of his head. "Ow. s**t. Sorry." he managed to mumble. He lay on the ground for a long moment, catching his breath and regaining his bearings, staring up at the hazy sky of... whatever planet he was on. He finally groaned and pushed himself up onto his elbows.

*EDIT*

He looked up just in time for the instructor to call everyone to attention and form lines. He immediately leaped up and ran for the first line he saw, completely forgetting any consideration for the girl he'd (literally) just butted heads with. When he was finally filed in, he suddenly became conscious of what had just happened. He frantically patted down all his pockets, only to find that he'd left his data pad on the ground. He cussed under his breath, turning back in the direction he thought he'd come from. Everyone had moved; he had no idea where he'd just been a moment before. He dropped down on hands and knees, but there were so many feet he couldn't see anything on the ground. Biting his lip, he considered jumping out of line to find it for a split second. Which just-so-happened to be the split second before all the rows of recruits started marching forward, pushing him along with it.

Out in front of the dormitory, James absently looked at his room assignment, still preoccupied with his data pad. Should he go back for it? He looked down the road they'd come from. It was perfectly empty, not a soul all the way up to their dorm. He grumbled again, and proceeded up to his room.

With all of a suddenness, some moron fell on top of Rhiannon, smacking her head. Through the stars in her eyes, the girl couldn't see anything for a few moments, and when she looked up, the person belonging to the apologising voice was gone, with the frantic rush of recruits to the lines. Looking down, she saw not one but two datapads lying on the ground, and picked the both of them up, pocketing them and running to the line. As the group walked to the dorms, she wouldn't notice the silly recruit looking for his datapad.

Upon arriving at the Dorms, Rhiannon checked her billets, and, going up to the indicated floor, found her room to be very spartan and durable looking. She stuffed a few things from her pockets,m including the two datapads, into her duffel before heading outside to get ready for the next event the instructors had planned.

"Ah, there we go," Morgan replied, sweeping his cards up and pocketing them. Most were facing the same direction. As they marched to the dorms, he returned them to their case. Checking the board, Morgan saw his name next to "Steven," in Room 301. As he headed up to the third floor, he paused midstep on the ramp. Wait, isn't that guy who was apologizing to Angry Girl named Steven?

Realizing he had surprised and held up the surrounding foot traffic, he continued to the room. Seeing Steven unpacking, he realized that Steven was exactly of whom he'd thought. He began to unload his few possessions as well.
