Rep's head snapped forward as Tracey's shield shattered and his back hit the interior of the pod, the doctor's hand on his chest.
No.
In his chest. H leaned forward, broken spinters of bone shifting as he moved but left his hand where it was, fingers wrapped gently around Rep's heart.
"I was so hoping you'd refuse," the doctor whispered affectionately.

What was a front of smug arrogance shattered as easily as his shield. All that was left was sheer, wide eyed, uncomprehending horror.

Leaning further in, the doctor drew a breath, inhaling deeply. Something about the man suddenly seemed calmer and more relaxed than ever before. It was with the air of someone coming home that he brought up his other hand to lightly cup Rep's cheek.
"It's so rare that I get to be hands on, you know. Leaders must always delegate the truly fun work, and if it comes to battle, well..." his thumb idly stroked Rep's jawbone, "Marie is always hungry. But I miss this, from time to time. There's nothing like the feeling of life under one's hand...just waiting to spill out."
He smiled, "Any last words?"

The pain was absolutely overwhelming and all he could do was twitch in absolute and total agony, all the while not daring to thrash or struggle in case he expedited his own death. The familiar smell of blood on the air was his own this time. The wracked sobs that passed for his breathing slowed perceptibly at the contact from the Life leader, hating everything in him that even here, even on the very edge of life and at the brink of death that was grateful for the gentleness.
It didn't matter that the man had just broken him, it was the way things were. The strong defeated the weak, two kinds of people. And he'd always been the lesser one, natural born henchman.
He was afraid and he wished Harrison was there, Jordan. Anyone.
But there was only another monster instead.
Even in near convulsive agony, he leaned into the contact against his jaw and closed his eyes, behind the bully and the victim, the two personas he always wore, there was always the child. Pathetic and loathsome, just glad he wasn't alone, glad it was personal.
Last words. Last words were for heroes about to make some grand escape from their predicament, but for him there would be no salvation or redemption. There wasn't time to think, he wasn't witty, he wasn't smart. All he had was the island, the people he'd met, the things he'd learned, all he could think about were the people, people he might never see again. There wasn't room for anything else in his thoughts.
He stilled his panic enough to speak, his voice low and careful.
"I don't regret it."
And he didn't mean attacking Shy, he didn't mean all the times he'd ******** up, those things he did regret - intensely. He meant saying yes, saying he wanted to come to this ******** up island of petty bitches in the middle of the ocean where he helped save the world.

The doctor smiled, all teeth, "Good." Then his hand was sliding free with a soft, wet sound, and the door was swinging shut. Rep's pain stopped. As did his his pulse, his breath, and every other function of his body. Every physical aspect of the hunter simply, and abruptly stopped. But the man himself stayed awake and aware, trapped within. Through the pod's window, his vision was fixed and staring out at Shiloh's own face, still and dead behind glass. Dr. H's face came in view, obscuring Shiloh for the moment, "There's a chance he'll return, you know. If he manages to bond once again with his weapon. If he wakes, you'll be freed to heal and live once again as well." H smiled, and turned to someone else... Simon. "We'll give it up to a year before disposing of both as a lost cause. Tell Allan he's on a nice vacation to oh," a roll of the eyes, "...find himself. Or... don't and instead tell him the truth. I'd like to see his reaction to the loss of one of his own when it's off the battlefield, all personal and so very, very ugly." The doctor moved out of view and soon his voice faded away as well, leaving Rep alone but for Tracey and his own thoughts. Baneful Rep will be in the pod until Shiloh resurrects, oocly and icly this will be for 2 weeks. For the duration of that time he will be awake (sleep is not possible) within the pod, he is capable of seeing whatever is in his fixed line of sight and hear whatever is spoken within the room. While supervised, the pod room is open for visitation, though Rep may only be a passive participant in an rps that occur. After Shiloh wakes up, Rep will be taken to the infirmary to be healed of his wound (which will have remained fresh during his time in the pod) and will have 2 weeks, icly and oocly, of recovery there. After which he'll be subject to whatever further restrictions or disciplinary actions are deemed necessary by the Deus leadership. Sammpai Shiloh's awareness and sense of self now linger outside of his body. Outside of the leadership, no one can see him or hear him, but he can wander freely throughout the island. In the second week he can be briefly felt by others, and move small objects small distances with effort. After two weeks, he will bond once again with his weapon and wake up. He will be moved to the infirmary for an additional two weeks for full physical recovery,

Edith gave the two hunters a flat look, "You two don't need to be punished. You need to be better." With another sigh, she pulled out her phone and texted Caelius about the body. "For now, unless you come up with something better, just try to make sure trainees aren't traveling alone too often, on island or off. And start observing spars, start watching their movements and body language more closely, see if you can start predicting movements and behavior."
Pocketing her phone, she gave Harrison a wry smile, "You should probably talk to Stephen or Sunny, before one of them decides to leave their little kingdom and seek you out."

"Understood."
Trainee-watching. It was fair, and that was all Harrison could think about it. He felt distant. He didn't mention what Rep had told him about the bodies at the lighthouse.
He did brood on what it meant to die alone, versus in good company. And he'd left. He'd ******** left, because if he was there, nobody'd be left to make them pay, but he'd be with him at least...
"I...oughta get back anyway."
Nobody had told Jordan.
"Appreciate you trying to help," he told Dakota.

Dakota nodded to Edith, looking over the grave once more. At least the next person he could talk to was Candace.
"I'll let Candace know what's up..." Dakota looked at Harrison..."Don't think I did anything more then make it worse.." The hunter shrugged and left.
The last person he wanted to talk to right now was any of the threesome of ******** trouble.
"See you around."
