Heh, Kazuma, it must've rubbed off on me...or maybe it was seeing Kid fight 'em off all by himself...

My take on Shem's activities

I probably just stepped hip-deep in it this time...

I am deeply honored by your compliment. I have a distinct lack of what some people would call "restraint". I acted out in anger, and I think I actually got to him. His only words defending him self were basically "Nu-uh." He couldn't actually back up what he kept repeating over and over. It made me so angry because I used to think he wasn't so bad, for a liberal... Sigh... You live and learn.

But yeah, expect the wrath of Sakurako-Chan and Shem. Perhaps even danjel, though he refused to show up to put his two cents in. Now that I think of it, no mods showed up. Not Dakai, not Duchess, not Shere (Who has been making more of an effort lately I think).

But the fact of the matter is that the arrogant little whelp dragged both of us out to hang us out to dry, and it royally pissed me off! I don't take that sort of petty cowardice at all, especially from someone with an ax to grind like he does. I don't plan to revisit the thread--best off that way to ensure that I don't blow a fuse--but I couldn't sit back and let you take all the pounding they were handing out. I may not have done much to defuse the situation, honestly didn't want to, but I had my say. As for our 'lovely' friend dj, bring him on, I've been needing a head to chew off...

I did notice that much of the trash talk that Angsty laced his original post with got removed. I expect that someone made him do that or deleted it out themselves. I extend my "well done and thumbs up" to you both for calling him on it and being persistant. I suspect that if no one had it would have been left that way.

This is a disturbing trend. This is the second time that Angsty has tried to drag affairs from inside the guild out in to the main ED Politics forum (the first time was deleted after a time). Things in that forum can get pretty rough but what he did represented a new low for the forum.

Something else I noticed was that Sakurako-Chan made it look as though he had snagged the posts from a public guild, which I was clear to point out it was not. And I saw his original post, hence the protest from me. He may have toned it down later, but it was too late for me...had already seen it and taken action.

Indeed. You have every right to be outraged by his acts. I was too. I don't think that he should be allowed to get away without any response regarding what he had said just because it is now edited out so I'm in complete agreement with the actions you had taken. biggrin

If someone quoted one of my posts without my knowledge, from a private or hidden guild forum, I'd at least expect the quoter to PM me and inform me of it. On the EDP forums and others, I expect people to respond to my posts. But on guilds like these, I'd think our thoughts were kept on our own time. It would seriously offend me if someone stole one of my posts.

I hope you're feeling better about the problem, Shiro crying

Hmm...let's see...*sharpening blades as she thinks*...not yet, but I have some modicum of satisfaction. At least he shouldn't be able to come in here and do that again, which was more important to me that dressing him down for his reprehensible act.

Um...yeah, I'm still mad...still using 'big'words... wink

Perhaps I am sort of old fashioned, but I see a certain need for civility between members. Not because I want to water down politics, debates, or whatever, but because I think it is common courtesy. I am well aware that when people are passionate about something, tempers can fly but I do not see why certain members feel the need to be rude or spiteful right off the bat.

I generally try not to pull the whole "LIBERALS THIS AND THAT" card, but after certain threads and responses to posts, I can't help but feel some of the more prominent members on Gaia have developed an attitude that is "holier than thou" that allows them to act, basically, like total jackasses to anyone and it bothers me for the reasons I already stated.

I'd like to think I act somewhat like a mature adult, but if I ever, EVER seem to act unreasonably or in the manner I just described, please let me know. I don't want to becme the sort of monster I see more and more on these forums. It almost makes me want to leave.

It only really got to bugging me after school, simply because I was having a normal conversation on various current events with a liberal in school, who I swear to God is one of the most intelligent and genuinely thoughtful person I have spoken to in a long time. In contrast to those I've met on Gaia, well, take a guess.

I realize that such things do not apply only to liberal individuals. Naturally, such attitudes aren't only prevailent in liberals, just that the members I am speaking of are liberal, and it seems to be "rubbing off" (for lack of a better word) on those who were more than willing to keep an open mind.

That's not old fashioned, that's idealism.

I love it how he automatically assumes that people living in caves with stockpiles of weapons aren't necessarily terrorists.

"Weapons" is a harsh word...freedom instruments would probably be more PC 3nodding because you know....America is opressing the Middle East with our peace roadmaps and humanitarian aid.

OMG, how freaking blind is he???

Due process? A day in court??? These people don't care about due process or their day in court--they only care about killing infidels. Period. End of discussion.

By his definition, I must be a terrorist, too...and anyone else who has guns, ne?

edit: Gaia is playing mind games with me... gonk

I read an interesting article the other day that had both good and bad information. The guy was talking about how less than a dozen terrorists killed with bullets dipped in pig fat stopped islamic terrorism in 1911, and the KGB stopped islamic terrorism by doing rather disgusting surgical alterations on captured terrorists and depositing the corpses in public. Yet the author said he was't in favor of going about those now, and claims times have changed.

I however think we should arm all our anti-terrorist troops with pig-dipped bullets. Dying in Jihad isn't worth it if you're going to be killed in a way that they believe precludes Allah's glorious virgins and even precludes heaven entirely for the one who dies that way...

Makes sense to me...use religion against them 3nodding

I think that's probably the only way to end the war on terrorism relatively quickly.

They aren't necessarily terrorists unless they're muslims. If I found a bunch of christians in a cave in the middle east I'd just assume they were on the defensive.

Yeah no religion would ever be capable of terrorism but the evil muslims. Not even the Catholics and the Protestants in Ireland. (to name a few)
