Honestly though, in the long run, tablets are a better investment than a scanner. ^^; you can practice lineart AND color so much better and faster, and work up skills. n__n I went from horrible to somewhat decent in a year. I'm sure you could do just as well or better. A used tablet? D: I got mine from Wacom. *luff* Deuxia>> XD wow. heart good buy! ^__^ The one I found is a Wacom, and I believe it was new. I can't draw decent full bodies with a tablet :p But I can do wonders with a scanner xd

Nothing compares to the joy of getting your hands dirty, if you know what I mean.
The smell of oil paints, the fun of doodling and experimenting and throwing the paper or ripping it appart because it sucked... aaahhh!!! xd
And I forgot.... there's no UNDO button on traditional media, which makes it challenging. gonk xp heart

xd I'm a fan of both traditional art and digital. ^__^ I think digital art has taught me a lot of things that has helped me greatly on my traditional art as well. n__n and the undo button + layers = OMG. :< *clings to them*
That doesn't mean I can't LIVE without them. D: I do pen drawings just to force myself not to screw up without an eraser. n__n; but I'll have to say I still prefer digital. ^^;

Hehehe.. I cannot still handle layers too well.. In fact, I am having such a hard time using photoshop.. I get confused and I am too lazy to force myself to learn the hundreds of functions of each button and tool. @__@;;; gonk xp
Pens are pretty much like a double-edged sword.... You don't have the luxury of not making a mistake... It's something you can't afford. xp I make a lot of mistakes, and when I work with inks I see myself literally yelling at me because of them.... right at the very end, when I though I did a good job. crying gonk
Digital also has a lot to offer.. but I need to discover more of it first to have a decent opinion. ^^;

Ick, I hate all the "cheats" on digital programs. n__n preset brushes, special custom brushes for lace, blood, etc, while useful, always feel like cheating to me. I'll make my own with a 1 px brush, thank you very much. Then I can claim a picture as MINE.
Oh? o.o;; I didn't bother using any tool besides paintbrush, fill, eraser, and crop. biggrin and layers of course. You don't NEED anything else. XD and there's really nothing to layers. Just make like 10, put lineart on one, color underneath and above if needed. xp
Exactly! biggrin I don't have the luxury of not making a mistake, so that's why it's practice. ^__~
yes, just experience both a bit more. :3 when I first started digital, I couldn't wait to get back to traditional. XD

i love pencils. i can't do ink with out first drawwing in pen then tracing it. xp

Deuxia - I'm a sucker for graphite and inks. Micron pens = <3 (I own about 30 of the damn things.)
Nyome - See, that's the difference between you and me. I love cheating in Photoshop, mainly because I have the attention span of a schizophrenic rodent. If I can't CG something in under an hour (it used to be 4, dear god), I don't do it. xp Hence my love for custom brushes.

whee heart When I first started CGing, I got frustrated as soon as I passed the 2 hour mark for a full 3/4 pic. XD now I'm fine with spending sometimes up to 9 or 14 hours on a piece. 3nodding Can't do 40 or 50 hour pieces though. @__@ not even patience or dedication for that.
I always feel like I'm stealing if I use brushes by someone else, cheating if I use photoshop's preset brushes, and lazy if I make my own. n__n;;
