I actually prefer knee-length skirts to minis, I think the 'illusion' is sometimes sexier than just showing off. What type of skirt depends on your body-type: I love A-line skirts and full skirts that hit right above the knee, but something else may look better on you! Oh, and I always wear high-waisted.

I prefer ankle length skirts myself, but of course I'm not trying to accentuate my waist, though a nice mid-length skirt is good too since I can wear them both year-round.

I love wearing mid-length skirts but its hard at times. See, I ride my bike everywhere and when I ride my skirts ride up. So every five seconds I have to look to see I'm not flashing panties at anyone.
