Rising up with a slight groan, I fall back against the wall, and begin to rumage around in my pokets, slowly but still rumaging, "Even more so than you think, pick it up and touch a finger to a point on the map and it will 'zoom' into that point, makes for a very effective way to store more information than one can see on the surface, but takes one hell of a lot of energy out of me, and requires an ancient technique of the Phoenix Clan, that all of us know, and few even use anymore, takes too much, in fact if I weren't a vampire I'd need to sleep for about three weeks to balance my enery back out from that, so it's only effective for a short period, but brings out the power of all that have previously held the mark, well at least the one for each individual. Did I ever tell you how one aquires this mark?"

Finally finding what I was looking for I pull a vial from my pocket, bite the cork and spit it at my feet. I touch the vial to my lips and drink heavily, I finish and grab the cork quite a bit more spryly than I had been before, I recork it and put it in an entirely different pocket, put the shirt into a portal and put the trench coat back on.

"The mark of the Phoenix, on my right hand, I don't hide it, in fact I can't, it's sorta like an identification mark. Well anyway to get to the point, the mark is a highly magical one, even more so than runes, there are only so many, about 40. A bit of magical history left outa the books, this clan has been around since magic was started a few spirits decided that in order for there to be order in the magical world, there needed to be a group of magical users, dedicated to the preservation of not only as much secrecy as could be attained, but to keep the others in line, the spirits decided that the hosts would only have so many numbers so they couldn't rule the world or anything, there were to be 50, but the fifth spirit died before he was able to give his powers to the ten, but the other four were able to pass theirs on, yes in turn they sacrificed themselves for this feat, but they created a new bread of magic users, one who where sworn to uphold the balance, it was a powerful pact, one that required each host of the mark to sacrifice much of their own blood, they all took on this task with pride, all where proud people, once they all awakened the spirits were dead and in the very place that all of them were re-born a shrine was errected, in honour of the spirits sacrifice to the good of the world, it still stands where I canont say, it's another pact they took after they were re-born, that not a one could speak the location of the place, nor show it to one who has not the mark. They kept the peace but soon they realized that none of their bodies could last forever and they realized the spirits had not told them how to remedy this, they found it out though, each took on an apprentice, one who would not have the mark, but learn from the one who did, all of these apprentices were chosing carefully, when the time came that the apprentice was ready to be a full fledged mage of the order, the master would perform the final ritual, one that would pass the mark on to the apprentice, but again with more sacrifice, they had to die, for the knowledge contained in the body could prove to be a downfall for the whole order. A saftey measure that was implemented later on was that should the holder die without having been able to pass the mark, or without an apprentice, the mark would flee the body and choose a suitable host, one that would be deemed worthy. The order has since died but their mark lives on, an imposibility to kill off, my master was one of the last to willingly pass it on, all who aquire it now are just worthy, they know nought of the rich history of their heritage, nor the location of the shrine, I do though, one good thing of being so old. Most who have the mark think it a birth mark for they were born with it, and know not of the magical powers they have, for only when the holder of the mark realizes it's abilities does the mark glow as mine does. I'm sorry that must have been incredibly dull for you to hear of such an old unwritten history." I draw my sword from the ground and resheath it, "Perhaps we should continue this little escapade."

Sighing I start look, not to enthusiastically, as I'm still a little famished from the major power usage.
