Sorry I haven't updated in a while.. I haven't even logged into Gaia eek
Ah, depression.. Don't you just love it? (complete and total sarcasm there) stare

sweatdrop turns out the scratch wasn't the problem, it's Vista!

Oh well.. I think it'll look nicer to just paint the designs on.. also faster, less bulky, and I won't have to worry about lining up the pattern, getting the fabric in the embroidery hoops, or the hoops leaving weird stretched out spots.. they always do that no matter what I try! that's why I hardly ever use one when embroidering by hand, I'm just very careful with the tension of the thread heart

I have the hood on, just need to line it.. thought it might work without lining, but I was wrong.. so much for being lazy, ne?

and I have one more hole to open up on the shoulder, then I can get to the stripes on the body.

stare no, I haven't been working on it much.. scream Damn you depression!

I really need some motivation to get back to work on it.. I only have 3 months left and haven't even STARTED on any of the leather pieces! gonk

I may have to just hold out on this one 'till the next con and go to this one as a Geisha again.. sad

crying I got the stencil cut out and everything, then painted it on a piece.. the paint bled beneath the stencil and now it's just one big, silver blob stressed

and now my hand is killing me from having to put so much pressure on the knife while cutting the stencil out crying

couple of things to report on today.
First is the painting.. I set them too low and there isn't enough room for the border design or enough fabric to add any to it.
Hopefully I can find some 3inch wide gray ribbon and paint the design on that..

The Hidden Blade!
Yes, I have finally started working on it!
Daddy found a sketch I made of the insides and thought it would be fun to make even though he had no idea what it was rofl

So, he took me to the hardware store and we got some springs (couple of sizes to play with) and a few paint-stir sticks.

I just finished cutting out a test 'blade' from the stir-sticks and just need Daddy to cut the notch on the side and drill the hole for the lock. Daddy suggested using a small screw to catch the spring in place of (on the real one) an extra piece welded on..

and my brothers' dog, Cujo decided while I was working on the test blade to lay in the pile of shavings that was gathering on the floor.. now he's covered in them rolleyes

Only one slip-up with the knife while making that 'blade' and got my thumb.. not bad.. It only bled enough to make a small scab.. and sting a bit when I washed it.. pirate

I'll see about sketching up a diagram with the measurements for everything later. heart

here is the design ... the piece on the far right needs to be straightened, but otherwise just print it out to fit the page and it's about the right size.
The one on the bottom is the border, so just repeat it and you're good!

and sorry for the table showing there, my scanner is broken crying

Nope, I haven't died! Just been busy..
Very unlikely I'll get this done in time for the con coming up in October (Halloween weekend heart )
I am also working on a costume for me new friend Salena and waiting on Sher to get me some fabric so I can make the boys' costumes.

Aedan outgrew his Gohan costume and Logan needs a Goten one.. Sher is trying to lose some weight so she can go as Chichi 4laugh

but, anyways, I had to order some more fabric.. well ribbon, actually. Turns out it is darker than the fabric (just came in yesterday), but will have to do. Did I mention before that I painted the designs too low? Well, that's what the ribbon is for, the border that goes @ the bottom.. is 3" wide, so perfect fit for the design but the paint doesn't want to cooperate with it very well.. is all blob-y ... at least it still forms the basic design I guess..
