Character Name: Higa, Kagerou ((Kagerou Higa))

Age: 2,300 ((23))

Hair: Kagerou’s hair is a deep shade of green with brighter natural highlights. Her bangs are long and they hang into her face, but the rest of it remains pulled back. The ends of her hair fans out in the back rather than falling into just a ponytail.

Eyes: Kagerou’s eyes are nothing special. They are a slate shade of gray with a sharp shape to them, lined in dramatic black.

Skin: From hours in the lab, Kagerou’s skin has become a sunlight deprived shade of pale. On her back is a tattoo that is normally hidden by clothing. Large feathered wings in black and silver span all the way down to her hips. Down her spine, closer to the hip, are the two kanji characters that make up her name ((which means Dragonfly)).

Height: Kagerou is about average in height… if anything she’s an inch or so shorter.

Weight: Kagerou has muscle, despite her indoor occupation. She also has a decent sized chest. Both of these add to her weight.

Outfit: Kagerou wears regular Shinigami pants, but there the similarity ends. She wears a tight fitted black tank top with an overlay of fishnet. This is mainly covered by her giant white lab coat. Her hair is tied back by a thick black ribbon. Clipped off to the side of her head is a skull shaped hairclip. Wide circular glasses with wire thin rims sit on her nose and her feet are covered in darker versions of the typical sandal.

Overall Description: Overall, it’s hard to believe she’s a scientist. She has as much attitude as a hormonal teenager with a quick wit and a sharp tongue to match. She somehow manages to look professional and casual at the same time. It’s almost as if the stark white lab coat were part of her otherwise gothic outfit. She seems relaxed and on her toes at the same time, as if it were in her nature to be ready for almost anything.

Personality: Kagerou is a very sharp woman. She doesn’t take insults from anyone. Though she is always more than willing to participate in a battle of wits. Kagerou is excellent at analysis. Her favorite pastime is pinpointing her enemies weakness and figuring out how to deliver the hardest blow possible. That is why she so willingly took up the difficult task of finding a way to take down Aizen. She happens to be having a lot of fun with it. In fact, she tends to deliver weapons of destruction with an amount of glee. Her favorite thing to work on is advancing the Kidou Gun.


Background: Kagerou was assigned to the research squad as soon as she graduated from the Shinigami Academy. For most of her starting years, Kagerou was stationed in the Mortal Realm in order to analyze and keep track of the Hollow situation. She reported back her statistical analysis on the situation. She rather enjoyed her life as a Mortal. Her favorite part was dancing in clubs, even though she wasn’t much of a drinker. She brought many of her Mortal clothes back with her.

When she returned to Soul Society, she was assigned to medical research. It wasn’t her specialty by far. Still, she did the job for many years. In some cases, she was even called over to the 4th squad to offer different options to patients or to help when the medical wing got overwhelmed. One day she was called to a particularly bothersome case.

Gael Nact. While in the Mortal Realm, Gael had given birth in a gigai in a mortal hospital. The Hollow her and her husband had been fighting had caused the ceiling to cave in. She suffered many injuries, including broken bones, damage to her throat and lungs, in addition to many horrible gashes running up and down her arms. She had been unconscious for a day or so… only to wake up in a horrible fit. She refused all treatment and wouldn’t shut up. She was going on and on about her husband and her child… both lost in the Mortal Realm.

Kagerou took a different approach from anyone else. She merely stood back and observed for a moment. One nurse tried to assure her that they were doing all they could… Gael would proclaim that it was not good enough… Kagerou stepped in then.

“You’re right. It’s not enough.”

Gael stopped, looked dead at Kagerou…

“And who are you?”

“Kagerou. I work in medical sciences.”

“I’m not a lab rat.”

“I’m not offering you experimental treatments. You don’t have to worry about that.”

“I’m not taking any treatments, experimental or otherwise.”

“Your wounds are severe. The pain must be as well. We can fix it, so why shouldn’t we?”

“Because this is my pain to bear. I failed my family. This is my punishment. The pain means that I am alive. As long as I have this pain… I can still do something. I’m still alive. I can still find them.”

“Your pain is both your punishment and your hope.”

There was a moment of dead silence, hanging between the two of them.

“They’re out there… alive.”

“I believe you.”

“Just like that?”

“Why shouldn’t I?”

Another pause.

“Can you do anything?”

“I can do all I can.”

And Kagerou left. Gael quieted, but refused treatment. The nurses were outraged, but could do nothing. Gael went home with mere bandages and casts. No pain pills, no Kidou treatments… nothing. Kagerou started on a new invention in her spare time… the “Reiatsu Radar”.

When Kagerou discovered that Michio and Sanyu Nact were being proclaimed dead… she decided to attend the funeral. She took note really quickly that Gael was absent. So, she headed over to Gael’s house to make sure she was okay. She wasn’t. Kagerou found Gael passed out on the floor. When budged, Gael began to cough and hack, blood spraying as she did. Kagerou hardly flinched as she was splattered with the little airborne droplets. She then cared for Gael in her own house while respecting her wishes of no Kidou and no Medicine. When Gael awoke, her bandages had been changed, she had been cleaned up, and the coughing was eased by a sweet herbal smell in the air.

Kagerou made frequent visits for about a month after that. Then their contact slipped away. Currently, they only meet every now and again. However, when they do meet, there is a silence in their voices. There is something that they both know that the rest of Soul Society doesn’t.

-Zanpakutou-

Zanpakutou Name: Gin’yoku ((Silvery Wings))
Zanpakutou Description:
-Before Release: Before release the Zanpakutou looks like an average katana. The hilt is wrapped in silver with a flowing amount of ribbon hanging from the ends. On one of the threads hangs a silver dragonfly charm that resembles the Gin’yoku’s materialized form.
-Shikai: After Shikai, the Katana melts away into a different form. This form is that of a crossbow. The curved portion on the weapon is in the shape of very realistic dragonfly wings. The entire weapon is of a flowing silver that makes it seem like it’s almost liquid.
-Bankai: N/A
Zanpakutou Abilities:
-Shikai: In addition to infinite ammo, the arrows of this crossbow have their own special ability. The arrows melt into the target that they hit. At first, it seems to have no effect. Then the affected region will start to feel cold. After a few more moments, the affected area will begin to either spasm or go limp. The Shikai was meant to cause seizures or paralysis, but not to kill. For that, a different weapon must be used.

Zanpakutou Materialization: Gin’yoku’s materialization is that of a small pure silver Dragonfly. Despite her size, her voice is large and deep. Often it seems more like the wind is talking, not the dragonfly itself. She is normally surrounded by sparkles caused by the light that bounces off of her metallic body.

Kagerou knows all the basics in Kidou. She spends a great deal of time analyzing it for her experiments. However, she doesn’t often use Kidou in battle. Then again, she’s not one to do much battling herself.

Hair: Strawberry-Blonde with a Metalic Silver cluster in the bangs on the right side

Eyes: American male eyes with lids half closed, iris is composed of gray and silver in a marble pattern, eyes appear as if they are older than I am.

Skin: A tribal gryphon on the upper left arm, tribal pheonix on upper right arm, and a dragon on upper back spanning both shoulder blades. Various unimportant scars. Somewhat pale skin.

Height: 170cm

Weight: 75kg

Outfit: Always in a black sleeveless shirt or no shirt at all. Black jeans, sometimes faded. Black human style combat boots.

Overall Description: Parts of my body appear older than others, it tends to vary. The only part that always appears older is my eyes. When people see my eyes they get the impression that I am older beyond my years. Various scars along back chest and legs from training with Zanpakutou and miscelaneous fights. I recieve various reactions when people see my Zanpakutou.

Personality: Very talkative when others are around, but when left alone tends to stay away from people. Works well in groups and just as well alone. Social butterfly tendencies, but prefers to keep myself as an outsider. Tends to be a smart-a**. Comparable to a rogue. Very manipulative and charismatic when it works for a goal.

Zanpakutou Name: Ryouchi (Intuition)

Zanpakutou Description: Dual blades that attach at the forearms and appears to connect in the arms. The base of the blade connects from the wrist to 8cm short of the elbow. The blade curves away from the arm and the end rests just above the shoulder after curving back in. The curve is similar to a cresent shape. The end of the blade is squared. When my arms rest at my sides the ends of the bleds are parallel to each other and sit about 6cm on either side of my head. The blade is midnight black and the cutting edge is as a marble of silver and grey, matching my eyes.

-Before Release: The blade has no appearace chance from non release and Shikai. Allows a 0.5 second continuous glimpse into the future.

-Shikai: No appearance change.

-Bankai: Do not have one at this time.
Zanpakutou Abilities:

-Shikai:
Cronos Step-Folds space and time to create a teseract allowing travel up to 20m, appearing in 2 places at once. Action takes 0.1 seconds. Can be used 3 times in a row followed by a 4 second recharge time.
Freeze-Stops time for 0.5 seconds.
Mirror-Creates a clone of myself that attacks with all the attacks from 3 seconds prior. The clone lasts for 3 seconds and any impact to the skin of the clone removes it from existance. This attack can be repeated with one clone at a time.

Zanpakutou Materialization: Ryouchi's appearance is similar to the shimmer of heat. He seems to flicker in and out of existance, as if moving between the past, present, and future. His voice is deep and paced, but not monotonous. He is a manifestation of time.
