Theonidas glanced downwards at the place where Nolah had been sitting just a moment before. In the sand, she had drawn small symbols of seemingly no significance. He crouched down and used his hand to give each of them more defined lines, making them appear bolder. He brushed his hands and sat back on his haunches.

"Where did you learn to draw these?"

It wasn't a full fledged question, though he still expected her to answer him. He continued to gaze at them, and silently trying to find something in his head that explained why they fascinated him so. He felt that he knew where they had come from, that he'd seen them before, and he wanted to know what Nolah's connection to them was.

He said out loud, "Athos. Perhaps you remember the man and the woman you killed on the street not too long ago? They were henchmen of a man named Jonas McKrea. I believe this man might have had something to do with the problem we are having. Don't you think we should drop in on him? Perhaps he'd be willing to give us the information we need."

He paused, and then, "Let her take flight. She will do well do fly for once in her life. I think all people should experience it at some point in time."

His eyes returned to the symbols. Long ago he had known a woman...someone who smelled sweet and was beautiful. He couldn't remember where he had known her, but she was there, lingering in his memory, and he couldn't rid himself of it. He remembered her being silhouetted against the sun, and he couldn't see her face.

To Nolah's question, Athos simply shook his head, "Temporary and painless. You'd just feel a slight tingling sensation here, and here." He gently ran a finger across her shoulderblades, then down her spine. "You'd have some control over the finer points of it, but would have to stay fairly close, or they'll simply disappear."

It was only when Theonidas pointed out the symbols in the sand did Athos take a closer look at them. And he found that he had not even an inkling of an idea why the Reaper was so interested. Sure, they looked familliar, perhaps symbols of some form of magic, or a family crest... But nothing that sparked more than mild curiosity. Still, they held a sort of beauty he couldn't place, and he continued to show mild interest in them even when Theonidas spoke.

"Indeed I do remember them. I remember everyone I kill; you know that." He paused for a moment, "McKrea. I do believe you're right. We should pay him a friendly little hello. He'd love to talk to us, I'm quite certain." An evil glint shone in his eyes, but he simply smiled, a look that was almost polite.

At Theonidas' suggestion to give her the wings, he gave a light chuckle and waved a hand lazily in Nolah's direction. "Already done." Which was indeed true. As they were talking, silent and unnoticed as a shadow, a pair of wings had appeared on Nolah's back. They were exquisitly beautiful; they held a translucent air that reminded one of the clearest cut diamonds, yet held a certain sense of fragility that would deter anyone from even thinking of touching them. Each soft feather iridesced gently in the moonlight, and when they caught the wind, tinkled like soft chimes. "I'd be careful though... They're a lot like glass. Easy to break, though they'll serve their purpose well enough."

When the fallen angel turned back to the symbols in the sand, Athos lightly cleared his throat and created his own electric-blue wings, the feathery part of the bat-birdwing mixture catching in the wind and crackling slightly. "Shall we go then?" He raised an eyebrow and spread his wings.

Nolah had been about to answer Theonidas' question when she felt a small tingling on her back and turned to find Athos, running his finger down her spine and explaining about the wings. She nodded and only seconds later the tingling grew stronger. Another glance revealed a pair of beautiful wings, crystalline but solid, exquisite. She was about to reach back and touch them when Athos warned her that they would break easily. Concentrating, Nolah focused on the muscles of her back and slowly flexed and moved them. The wings opened and flapped slightly, blowing a small bit of sand about. An immense pleasure welled up within her. She turned to thank Athos but realized the two were staring at her drawings in the sand. Oh right...Theonidas' question.

"I learned them as a child, I'm not sure where but I think it has something to do with my mother..." She paused hoping to remember more but alas she couldn't. "So...we're going to visit McKrea?" Despite her company, she still felt a shiver of fear and anger at facing the man again.

Theonidas rose to his feet, brushing the sand off his jeans as he did so. He considered Nolah's wings for a moment and then nodded. That would do. He then spread his own wings, shot a look at Athos and lifted off the ground, headed back toward Dark Haven. Under normal circumcstances, he supposed he could have just teleported the group to McKrea's lair, but then again, he remembered how much it had exhausted him. At critical times such as these, he could not afford to expend undue energy.

As they all took flight, they passed quickly over land, clearing the Oasis Athos had built, then nothing but desert for a long stretch. Finally, the little town came into view. No one was wandering about the streets. It was nearly dawn, and most of the night creatures had gone back into hiding, frightened by either the coming sun, or the ruckus that had ensued since "Tank" had seemingly faded from existance. The people who were usually about during the day had not yet dared to step foot outside their homes.

Yep, recent event had certainly left Dark Haven all shook up. Theonidas found himself glad that they would be getting out of there come soontime. Things were starting to get ridiculous with all this nonsensical dragging of feet. Theonidas had a pretty good idea that McKrea was the one responsible for the attack on the Sword Base. He was also pretty sure he had something special to do with Nolah, and he may hold answers about why Nolah had a place in the Reaper's past.

Now with freed experiments roaming about, the base under McKrea's hold (because after all, the Swords' Project had been kept under wraps, but if anywhere to find out about it, who wouldn't want control over a bunch of super humans that could destory a lot of things at the beck and call of their master? But that hadn't turned out quite like McKrea had planned, apparently, because all the experiments busted out and went running about the countryside. Incompentant b*****d.), and the Swords' Project completely leveled, it was time for the Grim Reaper to make a stand...

The group flew fast a low over the the town, Athos and Theonidas keeping up the speed rather naturally, and Nolah being pulled along by Athos's control upon energy. They passed over an elf, a vampire, and a faerie in the streets, and then over the Tavern, headed toward to the Aeris Building...

No words were exchanged when they took flight, though that wasn't uncommon. Athos and Theonidas, despite how long it'd been since either had seen each other, still seemed to have that complete non-verbal communication they'd developed through the years of working together.

They were flying so fast that the wind whistled in their ears, and the ground below was a blur. A quick glance over his shoulder told that Nolah was struggling slightly to keep up (flying this fast for the first time was indeed difficult) and so he coolly gave her a few pointers that allowed her to both conserve energy and fly more effeciently.

Athos knew exactly where they were headed, though he'd not set foot in the building. Of course he'd surveyed the entire town before stepping in, but found no need to enter the large building, and so hadn't. However, they were rapidly approaching it, but he had a feeling he'd still have little need to go inside.
