After becoming frustrated with all my mistakes on a piece of pixel-based pattern, I find myself wanting to take a drawing, put it on my lightboard, trace it onto the aida, and just fill in the blanks. Who says there's no freedom of expression in cross stitching? xd
Have you ever freestyled cross stitch? How'd it work for you?

So true, So true. I dont know if you would call what i do free styling, but usually when i get really frustrated with a pattern i will fill in the remaining spots with one color. thats what it did with sora's shoes but you can hardly tell. >.< I'm usually rational though when i do that so its kind of un-free styling sweatdrop

Nope, never free styled. Haven't reached that free expression point yet. Haven't reached any point, actually...

*raises hand* YEP SURE HAVE!! small prjects though. I sketch out roughly what I want on graph paper to get a sense how big i want everything to be compared to everything else. then I take a peice of chalk and draw it all out again on the canvas. and dot special areas with pen that need special attention.

I've occasionally made a whoopsie on a pattern and had to fudge it I have become rather good at blending but no matter how good I get at it I will always know that the miostake is there

Rainbow. *comes back from the dead of school to start posting in this guild*
Oh man, the only free-handed patterns I do are usually just chunks of poetry or lines form books and the like. I wouldn't dare attempt my not-too-skilled hand at pure free-handed patterns. It might...break the laws of physics or something. xd Although, I did do this the first year I started stitching. It's pretty hilarious if you ask me. lol
There, I just enhanced my post.

Rainbow. Nah, I think it was supposed to be some sort of wing-type-dealie and a flower-type-dealie, although it was completed some 4 or 5 years ago so it's open to interpretation. sweatdrop

Well then, I think it's a pretty snail, with a wacky shell and has no antenna. But it's a very pretty snail! 4laugh very colorful!

Rainbow. It could be a combination of both. Like, say, a snail with a wing and a flower. Mostly because the snail idea is quite thrilling/hilarious(in a good way) to me! xd
