Pirate Application
Name: Sparry
Age: Child
Brief History: As far as ages go, Sparry falls right about in the middle of the kids. She began her life with the lost children, but found it impossible to follow their rules or bow to their leadership (even as slight as it is.) She wanted an adventure! She wanted to fight and steal and be rotten! She struck out on her own, but only lasted a grand total of six hours before realizing it was a dumb idea and crawling off to find Tock and his crew. She's been there ever since.
Brief Personality: Too enthusiastic for her own good, but rather naive in the way the world works. Sparry likes to try to cover up for her own inexperience by talking tough and putting plans into action. She almost never sits still, and certainly never pauses long enough to even think. Everything she does is haphazard, improvised, and jury-rigged out the wazoo. If it works, it's a miracle. If it doesn't... well, that's nothing out of the ordinary. Her hyperactivity is only spurred onwards by her desire for treasure. She's a pack rat of sorts and if something catches her eye the only thing she'll think about is how to steal it until it's hers for real.
Physical Description: Sparry is average height and mostly human, but she looks taller because her legs and arms are a bit too long for her body, almost a little monkeyish. She has large brown eyes, a medium complexion, and a small, sharp nose which gives her a bit of a perpetually surprised expression. Her hair is dark, tangled, and peppered with beads and trinkets knotted into it. Instead of external ears she has a pair of royal blue fins radiating from around her ear canals - on land, her hearing is average, but underwater it's superb. She can hold her breath for five minutes, but only at shallow depths, and perhaps most perplexingly, she has a sort of sixth sense - the ability to smell gold.

Swimming Day - The pirates hang out at the stream. Sparry wins a race. Tock's encounter with an octopus turns hilarious.
Hand Over the Loot! - Sparry successfully traps and steals from Trystan. She does not, however, successfully keep him trapped.
Question for the Captain - Sparry, Tock, and Jake trade conspiracy theories about the presence of adults on the island. Sparry is laughed off.

Sparry took a deep breath and sank slowly beneath the water. She felt her ear canals fill as the ocean rushed in, and then the world was amplified, magnified, pumped up to eleven. She was swimming in sound; the distant whale-song off shore, the rush of the waves on the beach, the hymns of mermaids on the far side of the island.
When she didn't fancy herself a pirate, Sparry fancied herself a mermaid child gone wrong, left at the tree hut because her gills hadn't formed right and her ears were finned instead of her legs. It would certainly explain the need for treasure, anyway. The mermaids loved pretty things. And even though she was a pirate and sworn enemy of the merfolk who kept all the big shinies hostage, she liked to think it would be nice to float around all day and not have to work (which was all she could tell the mermaids did. How useless!)
Sparry desired to find something bigger and better than any cache the pirates had discovered in Neverland yet. The mermaids had huge amounts of gold and jewels hidden in their lagoon - Sparry knew because she could smell it any time she passed within a mile of it. But no matter how hard they tried to get at it, they couldn't! The mermaids had hidden it too well and the lagoon was too deep. But pirates thrived on danger and Sparry could hold her breath for five minutes. (She was working on six.)
Recently, though, she'd heard Tock and Jake talking about some very valuable cabbages. Now, why anyone would want to go after vegetables, and particularly boring vegetables at that, was beyond her, but if Tock and Jake wanted them they had to be special.
Sparry wanted in on whatever the secret was - after all, if there was a treasure, shouldn't everyone get a fair part of the loot? She decided she'd be sure to ask the captain what was up when she next saw him, and then broke the surface of the water and headed back to the Jolly Roger to get back to work.

Prompt Number 16 You were taking a bath in a nice secluded spot, but when you got out, your clothes were missing! Oh no! Who took them? How do you deal with the situation?
But back to the point.
It had been a nice, refreshing bath. Sparry had gotten all the sand and sawdust and bugs out of her hair, which wasn't an easy thing to do, and was now crouching with only her head above the water trying to decide when the best time to get out and get dressed would be. Her bathing spot was a well-kept secret, warm from the mountain, but the air was cold in the fading twilight and she didn't want to freeze. She doggy paddled over to the rock where she'd left her clothes and wedged her feet against it, still biding her time. How long could she stay in for? Until her fingers and toes got all shriveled up like fruit left in the sun? But by then it would be cold and dark and she'd never find her way home and she'd be lost in the woods forever and fall into a ravine and break her leg and get eaten by a savage tiger. (Or something like that.)
Sparry counted to ten and pulled herself out of the water and on to the rock. She reached for where she remembered leaving her shirt and...
It wasn't there. What?
Sparry blinked at the empty spot of the rock for a second and decided maybe it had slipped off into the sand. She crab walked to the edge of the rock and looked down to see if either her shirt or pants had wound up there. Hmmm, nope.
She hopped off the rock and looked around the base. No dice, just footprints leading off into the woods.
"Hell no," said Sparry, staring at the tracks as she started to feel the chill of the air. She followed the tracks to the edge of the clearing and stared into the woods.
"Why does this happen to meeeeee?" she demanded to no one in particular, teeth chattering. She swore she could hear the woods laughing. Maybe this was why Jake had told her not to swim in the nude...?
Well, she didn't suppose she could walk back to the ship naked. She'd catch her death. (Sparry didn't actually know what that meant, just that she'd heard it a few times. Ahja used to say it all the time back when she'd lived in the tree-hut. "Don't walk around naked - you'll catch your death." "Don't go outside with wet hair when it's cold - you'll catch your death." "Don't sit out in the middle of a thunderstorm - you'll catch your death." Et Cetera. What Sparry wanted to know was how the hell were you supposed to catch death?)
Rubbing her arms as she went, she followed the tracks into the woods. They were about the same size as her own feet, so she figured it had to be one of the other pirates. Boy oh boy were they in for a world of hurt when she found out who it was! She would pound them into a pulp until no one could even recognize them! Kapow!
Sparry continued picking her way through the woods - naked, none the less- in the darkening twilight. The tracks were getting harder to see, so she hoped she was getting close.
It was just as she thought this that the tracks disappeared into a tree trunk. Hmm, that didn't make any sense! Sparry looked up and spotted her shirt and pants hanging in the breeze some ten feet over her head.
She stared at the tree trunk.
"Hell no," she said again, and spat at it. "I am not climbing you cold and wet and naked."
Her clothes weren't getting any closer. Something in the jungle howled. Sparry glared at the tree.
"I am going to get splinters in places I didn't even know I had," she declared, and started climbing. It was a short and uncomfortable journey to the branch, and then a short and harrowing balance-walk out to her clothes. She perched on the branch, gripped it with her toes, and pulled her shirt on. The pants posed more of a problem, and after wasting another five minutes of fading light experimenting she finally managed to get them on without falling.
Dressed and dry, Sparry hopped out of the tree and investigated what she could see of the tracks. Then, she cracked her knuckles and set off for home. She was going to find whoever had done this to her...
...And they were going to pay.
