It was after the rounds and it was nearing dusk. The perfect time for hunting deer. Great Prince was walking towards the woods heading for a deer trail. He was making sure to keep downwind from the trail. He didn't want to spook the deer.

He was alert and excited. But he was also nervous. This would be his first hunt in a pack. Great Prince said they were hunting deer and they were walking on the deer trail. He twitched his ears, listening for the sound of deer grazing. He walked low and silently, a few feet behind his alpha. They were almost there.

Great Prince looked back at Jaden and nodded. They were almost there and he was approving of how the younger Helix was being so silent. He looked back forward and stopped. His nose twitched as the scent of deer hit him. He lifted his nose and sniffed deeply. He then crouched down and crawled forward for a little bit. He stopped when he was in some bushes. He looked out and saw a small herd of deer eating in the clearing. He crawled back a little ways and looked at Jaden. He pointed his head to the other side of the clearing then at Jaden. He was trying to tell Jaden that he should go around the clearing and go up wind of the deer. He wanted Jaden to herd the deer by running out at them. That would spook them and cause them to run straight for him (Great Prince). Then they could pick out the young one that was straying from the herd.

((Bleh sorry for late reply. I forgot the forum doesnt count the first post as a reply.))
He watched silently as Great Prince stopped and went into the bushes. He was confused when Great Prince pointed to the other side of the clearing until the smell of deer hit him. He nodded and crawled to the edges of the clearing, walking around until he was on the other side. Then he suddenly sprang out and ran towards the deer. They were startled and soon, they were headed straight for Great Prince's hiding place. He ran a little to the right of them so that they would go a bit left. He didn't want them to run over his alpha. He noticed the young fawn and figured that it was the one Great Prince was after so he kept his eyes on it and wondered where this fawn's mother was.

Great Prince took and deep breath to help settle himself. Adrenalin pumped into his veins when the deer began running for him. He crouched down ready to spring forward. He then saw the fawn and darted out for her. The fawn bleated before skidding to a halt to turn. The Great Prince sprang and landed on the fawn's back. His teeth slashed at the fawn's neck and soon he had a death grip on her. The fawn tried to buck but collapsed from the blood lose. She bleated once more before the light in her eyes disappeared. Great Prince looked up licking the blood from his chops and looked at Jaden. "Good job." He said.

"Thank you. You did well, too." he said. He looked at the fawn hungrily. He hadn't had one since he left his parent's pack and that was a long while ago but he knew better now and backed away, keeping a respectful distance away from Great Prince so he wouldn't be in the way again. To pass the time, he looked around and caught a glimpse of a cloud of dust as the rest of the deer made their escape.

Great Prince eyed Jaden as he backed away. He then tore into the fawn's belly eating some of the meat as he worked his way to the heart. Once he reached the heart he ripped it out and ate it. He then moved away from the fawn with his the pieces of the heart and laid down finishing it off. This was his sign that he was done and Jaden could eat.

When Great Prince was done, he walked forward slowly, to make sure it was ok. When he got close to the fawn, he ripped into it, taking a chunk of flesh with the first gulp. When he was done, he licked his muzzle clean and said, "What shall we do with the rest?". He was pretty sure packs buried excess meat but wasn't that only on the north where the ice would keep it cool? Perhaps Bambi might want some, he thought. He was old enough, right? They could always use those hooves to help him practice what to do when deer were after him.

Great Prince licked his chops clean and looked at Jaden. "We'll take some for Bambi but we'll leave the rest where it is. There are other predators and scavengers that will finish it off." He said getting up and heading for the fawn. He ripped a big chunk out and nodded for Jaden to do the same. He then turned ready to leave.

"Alright." he replied, taking another chunk of meat and following Great Prince back to their territory, his head just a bit higher than normal because of the meat.

Great Prince took the meat back to the den for Bambi to eat.
