The explosion
That loud, booming, head-splitting sound
It still haunts me--still lingers in my head
In one instant--in one breath
She was gone
And afterwards, the devouring silence
The sign of life leaking out of the windows
A child's shattered heart

She bustled about the room
A look of worry worn tightly across her face
The window wouldn't open
She slamed cloathes into the suit case
Trying to think rationally through panicked, angered tears
But the window still would't open

They quarreled with each other
Two rivaling forces
He wouldn't let her go
She yearned to be set free

I only wanted to help!
I didn't mean to do it!

My small and fragile hands picked up the heavy, cold metal
My fumbling finger found the trigger
My innocence ended the rumbling thunder
...My innocence ended her life...
