Quicksilver the Archangel "I found the blanket you wanted, Krishna." "Good. I'm getting tired of having to hold this thing." Delmor smiled softly at Krishna's grumbling, handing the rainbow colored Yuniko the felt blanket. It had been like this for the past couple of days, ever since Quick had showed up with a strange blue egg. She couldn't take care of it herself, not with so many other members of the family depending on her, and Delmor had earnestly volunteered to watch over it. It was so exciting, waiting to see when it would hatch! It had been no surprise to the Aquatic Yuniko to see how fiercly protective Krishna had become... and then how quickly he took over. Oh, it wasn't that apparent to anyone else, maybe. But Delmor had known Krishna a long time. It was all the little things. Like the way he had had a talk with Sorena and the Kurai Yuniko had simply... disappeared for a while on a private trip. Or the way that he complained that watching over an egg was beneath him... after he had been doing it for several hours. Or even the way he kept reminding Delmor of how much responsability caring for an unborn life was, and how it needed far too much time and attention WHILE he was performing the tasks. Once the kirin Yuniko had carefully wrapped the egg up, he placed it in the basket that had become a sort of makeshift bed and carrier. It had been Delmor's idea, and he was rather proud of it. After all, if it worked for Easter eggs, surely it would work for this egg, right? "I hope you don't intend to make this babysitting thing a habit, Delmor. It'll only mean even more work once he hatches," Krishna huffed, all the while making sure the basket was level and didn't swing. "You don't think Quick will ask for us to keep him permanently, do you?' "She might, if she thinks he'll be happier here. We'll just have to wait and see." Aqua Drageen Humming lightly, the rune-inscribed yuniko frolicked along the fields in his own way -- which was really a random combination of running, stopping to inspect nature, and scurrying recoveries from the occasional stumble when he wasn't paying close enough attention. The sun was warm and the grass as soft as feathers, but a carefree romp was not the main purpose of this outing, though it was a nice addition. Sekani was out to find out about this new egg that Krishna's guardian had acquired. He had heard of it through the grapevine... well, Aqua to be precise, but he thought it to be adequate detective work. A few yards from his target, Sekani's smile widened as he threw an arm into the air for a mighty wave and called out a greeting. "Krishnaaa~ Delmoooor~ HALLOO~!" Quicksilver the Archangel Delmor was more than happy to see one of his friends, and he returned the wave with an enthusiastic one of his own. "The little egg is all taken care of, and Sekani's come for a visit! I don't think this day can get any better!" Krishna, on the other hand, grew slightly uneasy when he saw the approaching Yuniko. As much as the kirin loved Sekani, he simply wasn't sure if the carefree song-and-dance Yuniko could be trusted around something so... breakable. Still... it was always nice when he got a chance to see and spend time with the other. It didn't seem to happen nearly enough, for his tastes. Aqua Drageen Sekani hopped to a stop, panting a bit after sprinting the last leg. "I heard there was a new addition," he stated, catching a glance towards the basket. "An... egg?" he asked, unsure. He had only overheard Aqua speaking about this new addition and it all seemed odd. Where did it come from? Is it more like a bird egg or one of those creme filled easter kinds? Quicksilver the Archangel "Glad to see that your eyesight is still as good as ever," Krishna replied with a small smile, turning his eyes away from Sekani and over to Delmor. "My arms are beginning to get tired. Hold the basket." "Of course!" The Aquatic agreed readily, glad to have the opportunity to hold the little one again. He flashed a bright smile over to the rune-covered Sekani, his tail moving just a little in his excitement. "Yes, and it's oh so adoreable. Krishna and I have been taking care of him." "And an awful lot of work and trouble it's been too," the rainbow Yuniko added. "Now, apparently, he's a visitable attraction - perhaps we should sell tickets." Then, after a short pause, "But... it is good to see you.. Se-chan." Aqua Drageen Sekani paused at the use of the nickname, but quickly recovered his poise with a chuckle. He was really glad things were smoothing over with his friend Krishna, even if some of the awkwardness would creep in at times. "Hart will probably be by later -- and Aqua's forbidden Brier, for some reason." His eyes wandered down again to the basket in Delmor's arms. "Sooo~... WHICH ONE OF YOU IS THE LUCKY DADDY?" he finally blurted out, looking eagerly from the aquatic to the kirin. Quicksilver the Archangel The sudden question left both of the other Yuniko speechless. Then Krishna couldn't help but laugh. "Neither of us! We didn't -lay- the egg. Neither of us are birds." Timidly, Delmor added on, "Quick is the one that gave us the egg to look after, Seka-chan. I don't really know where she got it from." Aqua Drageen "Oh... I see." The answer wasn't quite what Sekani was expecting. Though, as he gave it a few moments thought, it was likely for the better: one daddy meant there was another daddy and THAT meant he had probably missed out on something important. "It's still a cute little egg! I bet Quick is proud," he said, flashing a wide grin at Delmor. "Could I hold it?" Quicksilver the Archangel Krishna immediately grew tense at Sekani's question, his eyes becoming focused on the basket. Here was the part he had been dreading. He knew it was wrong, but all he could see in his mind's eye was the excitable rune-covered Yuniko trying to dance with the basket, sending the egg flying to an inevitable doom. Common sense and a mind centered around safety were simply not things Sekani had displayed abundantly in the past. Thus, when Delmor prepared to transfer ownership of the basket, he stepped forward, "I'll help you hold it, Se-chan; it can get very heavy."

Sekani nodded, too wrapped up in his own excitement to question Krishna's stipulations. Perhaps the point would come up later, but for now, he was going to get to interact with this new, interesting little thing. Besides, the rainbow yuniko tended to get grumpy when he asked too many questions.
"Okay, okay, sure," he said quickly, scampering close to the egg.

Krishna firmly held one side of the basket, but he did bring it closer so that Sekani could see it all the better. "I have no idea when it will hatch; Quick didn't have much to say on the subject either. It's really a terrible bore to watch, since it doesn't do much... but the color's quite nice. Hopefully whatever comes out will be cute."
Even as he spoke, though, he used a free hand to fuss at the blanket that Delmor had earlier provided, making sure that the egg had enough covering to protect it from the cold, and his golden eyes seemed fixed on the navy blue bundle that had suddenly become such a large part of his life.
The water Yuniko could not help but give a small smile at the sight of the other two, the sign of affection deepening as he thought about the rainbow Yuniko's words. "Oh, I'm sure whatever is in there will be just adoreable!"

"Adorable..." Sekani repeated softly, his eyes focused on the little bundle. Aqua had creatures scurrying about all of the time, but rarely were they so young. Even Oliver had to be a certain age by the time he was allowed away from his native cave. This wasn't just something interesting... it was a little life and a bit of nature's own magic.
"It's not so boring, Krishna! Just imagine all of the things it could be doing in there. Maybe what it's thinking. Do you think it can it hear us?"
Something could definitely hear them, though it was not the intended party. A stealthy shift came from the bushes, seeing an opening at last...

"Considering there are no holes in the shell or ears to recieve the sounds, I doubt he can hear us," Krishna scoffed, though it was more gentle then he had been before. "Perhaps it can feel the vibration, though. I imagine in normal incubation, with the mother so close... it could feel something. Aside from the warmth, obviously."
Overly affectionate Delmor could not resist being seperated from the basket any longer, and he reached out a silver and blue arm to take it. "Let me hold it now, Krishna. Just for a little while."
The Kirin Yuniko did not think twice about the request, gently dislodging whatever grip Sekani may have had on the basket and holding it out to the aquatic Yuniko. "Of course. Be careful."

Sekani gave a little pout as the egg's basket was plucked from his grasp. He had only begun to inspect it! Krishna mentioned vibrations... perhaps tapping could be used to "talk" with it or, better yet, they always say that music is the international language.
However, before any protest could be made, a brown blur sprang forth from some nearby shrubbery. Sekani was about to ask who or what this blur was and why it had never blurred by before, when he noted that it was darting towards -- no, scratch that, AT -- the bundled egg!
The egg transfer had proved too good an opportunity to pass up.

Delmor saw that same streak of brown coming out of the corner of his eye, and his first instinct was to take the basket holding the egg more firmly into his grasp and pull it close to his chest. The second instinct, probably happening at about the same time as the first, was to give a cry of alarm.
Krishna, on the other hand, found that his own response was momentarily delayed by an inner struggle. Part of him wanted to dart towards the egg, protect it and hold it close to keep it from harm, while the other (and perhaps more pressing part, if he would only admit it to himself) told him to dash towards a more precious being of navy, one with teasing black markings and golden horn and pull him into safety.
Unable to choose between the two, he did the only thing that he could do: he ran forward to meet the brown intruder head on.

The brown blur skidded to a halt in front of Krishna, finding that he was moving too fast to do much else (without tumbling off into oblivion, of course).
Damn, now they had his face! Though, probably not his name. He hadn't been to the area very long, and had kept himself secluded in that period. Furthermore, he had been told his name was absolutely impossible to remember: Sir Basingstoke Eliza Richard Solmon of the Forthright Southern Gent. The last bit was actually the name of the ship that meant very much to him.
Most just called him Stoke. A few tried Eliza, but weren't successful.
If Stoke was any type, he was a yuniko of action. Without a word of acknowledgement, he lept into a tuck-roll -- hopefully past this rainbow barrier and onto the prize.

Krishna made a quick catalouge of the face that stood before him; he noted one large scar near an eye and orange hair covered by what looked to be a green bandanna, but his observations ended whenever the brown being suddenly leapt back into action. It was not a move he had been expecting, and it momentarily took him off guard. The pause only lasted a few moments, but even that could be too long a wait in such a situation, which he knew only too well. Feeling slightly angry at himself for falling for such a trick, he spun around with the intention of pursuing the antagonist.
Delmor could see the brown stranger heading his way, and he began to glance to the side. He didn't want to run when he held such a tiny, fragile responsability in his hands... but if it seemed the only way to escape the situation, then he would take it.

Stoke let himself smirk at the sight of the aquatic, pleased to see him questioning a way out. He had deduced that this one would not be a fighter, but some yuniko were full of surprises.
One being Sekani, apparently. He had discredited this marked yuniko due to distance -- but Krishna's stalling and Sekani's dancer's legs proved enough to offset his estimate. Stoke didn't long find himself out of the tumble before he gained a weight on his back, gripping him at the neck.
Sekani was the type to give just about everyone a chance, but this fellow obviously didn't know the correct way to ask to see an egg.

Delmor winced whenever he saw his friend strike against the other Yuniko, but rather then waste the time he had been given, he used the opportunity to put further distance between himself and the attacker while he could move in relative safety.
Krishna could feel his scaled skin become chilled at the sight of the rune-covered Yuniko holding down the brown stranger. Sekani was quick and lithe, possessing that strength that only dancer's could hold, but one thing that the kirin was certain of was that whoever this opponent was... he had more experience in fights then the other did. He ran towards the pair, all sarcasm and sharpness gone from his voice as he called out a simple warning, "Sekani... be careful!"

Stoke heard the rainbow yuniko calling, and likely closing in the short distance left between them. Just to add more aggrivation to the mix, the target was scampering away!
The pirate went through some options in swift order -- slamming the other onto the ground would be a good option if there wasn't an impending backup on the way and his assailent's legs were flailing around too wildly to attempt a flip.
Well then, he'd just have to hope some bits of anatomy lined up as he hoped. Stoke swiftly brought both arms forward and back again, elbows bent, successfully knocking most of the wind out of his blue-colored cling-on. Sekani's eyes went wide and he couldn't help but lose his grip, crumbling to the grass.

Delmor could only stare in horror as his friend crumpled onto the ground, too surprised to even attempt to take a step towards the injured Yuniko. The Aquatic abhorred violence, however, and he could feel tears rise to his eyes and fall just as quickly. Why was this all happening?
Krishna's reaction was quite a bit different. The rainbow Yuniko watched as Sekani fell, but there came from him not a tear. Instead, his hands curled into fists. This stranger had gone after the egg. This stranger had hurt Sekani. Vengeance was the only option now. Throwing all of his strength behind one of those fists as he neared the strange Yuniko, he could find only one thing to say. "YOU SON OF A b***h!"

Sekani gave a few heaving coughs after settling on his knees with a light "thump", his lungs greatful for the oxygen, though still protesting their abuse. He wasn't any worse for wear overall and he actually felt kinda bad for being shaken off like that, but a lack of vital gases does that. His hearing being unharmed, he did catch quite the angry shout coming from his rainbow friend...
To his great alarm, so did Stoke! He was getting so painfully close to his target, yet he could not ignore the rage that boomed even closer. While speed was his advantage, all of the road blocks had taken that edge away. Knowing his own limits, Stoke made a sliding stop, curling himself inward and down to the ground to better avoid whatever Krishna may have been preparing.

Due to the ducking manuever of the strange Yuniko, Krishna's fists hit nothing but empty air, which undoubtably made him look quite silly, but in his rage the rainbow Yuniko for once didn't care about his appearence. Without even a thought he drove one of his hooves in to deliver a kick to his opponent, his golden eyes narrowed.
Delmor squeezed his eyes shut, his grip on the basket tightening at the same time. He didn't want to watch - he didn't want to see anybody else get hurt. What on earth were they fighting over, anyway? If the new Yuniko had wanted to see the egg, all he had to do was ask. There was no reason that the silvery-blue Aquatic could think of to explain any of this.
His green eyes popped open, however, whenever he felt a tremor coming through his hands, and he peeked over to see the little navy egg shaking somewhat. No, it couldn't be... the egg COULDN'T have decided that -now- was the best time to hatch?!
