Welcome to My Life
A mixture of random stuff, stuff that happened to me, stories I write, and much much more. Some may be boreing while others are so cool it's scary. Take a peek if you have the time.
Cherrywood Cabin.
The Cabin in the Tree

I guess I should start my tale with the story of the Cabin in the tree. I will start with this short tale because my adventure with my brother and Johnny starts and ends in the confinds of the Cabin. Not to mention if I mentioned the Cabin without explaining it most would have trouble understanding what I was talking about.

When my older brother, James, and I were very little our family gain enheritance and moved to the tiny town we live in now. My mother was quite the social woman so she was always busy keeping up with her wealthy life by ordering around maids, planning for parties, having parties, and meeting with other wealthy women for 'Tea parties' as she would call them. My father, however, was quite the comical fellow. My mother was almost embarrassed to have him around when she was meeting with important wealthy folk. He would make jokes about anything that related to sex, drinking, and stupid people as well as be extremly sarcastic. He also, unlike my mother, spent tons of time with James and I. He hadn't been able to find work since we had moved so he seemed to always have free time.
Anyways, when James was six, I was four, he begged our father to build us a Cabin or 'Playhouse'. We needed one because our mother didn't allow play in the house and no where else was safe. So our father agreed! Saying he would build us a tree Cabin on one condition, if James and I helped. Of course we agreed, it was an excuse to get dirty and sweaty!
We started construction of the tree cabin on a steaming hot summer day. It was too hot to start but we decided to be a little productive and find a tree for our Cabin. James had had a friend since we had moved in named Johnny March. Johnny was one year younger then James, but much shorter. Johnny came from a poor family with three older brothers and seven younger sisters. His father worked everyday all day and his mother payed no attention to him. So Johnny loved to spend time with James, my dad and I... It was his way of escaping. Johnny was with us on the day of the 'Tree Hunt'. We ventured through the small forested area a little ways away from the town, we only stopped when Johnny pointed at a medium sized red-ish colored tree. He smiled and looked at all of us, "Cherrywood!". We all starred at the little boy as if he had lost it but when my father looked over at the tree he smiled as well, "Why... It is a Cherrywood." He said, "Good choice. Sturdy, long living, and pretty much insect free..." He looked at James and I, "What do you think?". Of course James and I agreed hastily and concluded our search for a tree, we all marched back to town and bought cold refreshments.
True construction started the following weekend when our mother was busy planning we all fled. Johnny met us with wood he had salvaged from his backyard and we all snuck out to Cherrywood. Our father nailed in boards to the part of the tree where our cabin would go as Johnny, James, and I watched. We then spent everyday for the next three weeks painstackingly building the Cabin on Cherrywood. When we finished it was a monday at nine. Our father took Johnny home and then James and I.
The next morning our father rushed in, "Melissa! James! Hurry hurry lets go get Johnny and go to the Cabin! Something happened over night!" He sounded worried so James threw on a pair of pants and shirt while my father helped me into a dress. We picked up Johnny who quickly did the same as James and we all rushed to the Cabin where we got the most wonderful surprise.
The Cabin was painted a light orange and a rather odd looking old couch sat in the corner. A chest of toys sat next to a box of canned foods and blankets sat folded next to the couch. A book case with books sat by the window. A brown rug sat in the center of the Cabin. My father looked utterly proud of himself. He explained that in the chest of food there was also a first aid kit if anyone ever fell and hurt themselves. He explained everything else, leaving out the price of the couch, the new toys and books, as well as all the food. We spent the rest of the day in the Cabin and then at nine that night we climbed down Cherrywood and marched home, dropping Johnny off at home first. The next few days were wonderous... We had a place to be and relax... Then Johnny and James headed off to school and... Father found a job! I was left with my mother who squeezed me into a new dress everyday and made me go to 'Tea Parties' with her... I had to be 'polite'. I nearly ripped off my dress and went crazy, then the boys would get home and help me escape.
Unfortunatly, my father got ill. He seemed to only get worse and worse. My mother wouldn't let James and I go into the room. She wouldn't let Johnny come in the house... She had though Johnny had given the diesease to my father because Johnny was pour and 'Vile' as she called him. James and I rarely left the house. James would leave for schooling... I only left for 'Tea Parties'. Most of the time we sat up by our fathers bedroom door hoping he would walk out and say somthing witty like, "Ah! That mother of yours is alway worrying about the slightest things... Lets go to Cherrywood Cabin!". He never did. He died on the aniversary of Cherrywood Cabin's completion. James and I didn't even know until the next morning... We had passed out next to his bedroom door. After that it took james and I a long time to recover. Johnny didn't hear about it for at least a month after it had happened, but he had known all along. When James and I ventured out of the house we met Johnny at Cherrywood Cabin and stayed there the entire day. The boys skipped school and I skipped the 'Tea Parties'. We did nothing but wish we had had more time. Even though my father was gone, Cherrywood Cabin would always hold the wonderful memories of him.

The story of the Cabin is a sad one... A loving one... And most of all it's a story of realization and growing. James and I grew from our loss... That's how we manage to survive the story that is about to unfold before your very eyes.

((Idea for beginning of a story... Give me feedback!!!))
