FLOOD D=
OH MY DEAR GOD, NEWCASTLE IS FLOODED XDDD
It was a terrible day this morning, not so much the rain, but the wind. My brother dropped me off and I was literally begging him to take me home because it was so cold, but he told me 'No, no, it'll be fun for you.' and drove off.
It got so bad that parts of the school grounds were flooding - water in your shoes if you wanted to go anywhere. xp ME and a few friends invaded the school hall for recess and lunch, surprisingly the teachers didn't kick us out whjen they found us.
But when it started hailing, and everyone started freaking out! xd We were in the library at the time (it was a study period) and me and my friend Shane heard that there was a coal ship washed up on Nobby's Beach, about 50metres from shore because of the waves and the wind. We were making plans to go up and see it after school (if it stopped hailing, that is), but then a boy sat down and 'amused' us by telling us the story of when he'd been struck by lightening. eek
Then we all freaked out a little more XD
Since all these roads were closing, school actually got cancelled early! whee So we decided to go see the boat (since it wasn't hailing anymore). And SRSLY, IT WAS HUEG eek
ANyway, tiem to go home. I hung around tyhe bus stoip for a while with my friends, whinging about the cold and joking about trench-foot (because I'm such a dork XP). Since there were so many roads closed the bus was about twenty minutes late and then what was originally a 20minute trip took TWO AND A HALF HOURS XDD
The roads where flooded! There were parts where the cars were up to their headlights in water! It wasn't so bad until our bus started taking on water XD gonk Everyone on the bus was panicking joking, but then the bus had to stop before the stormwater drain because there were sort of rapids and a car actually got swept away! eek Two kids older than me ran out to help and eventually managed to save the guy from the car (he'd had to climb up on his roof so he wouldn't drown), I think they ran down to the shops and flogged a rope or something, but he was alright in the end. 3nodding
The best part is how fantastically stereotypical it all was XD

The highschool girl in uniform (me whee )
The peppy girl and (possibly gay) guy at the back singing Spice Girls songs
The hysterical woman ("WHAT IF WE HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM?"
"Try not to think about it."
"But I did!" wink
The hero teens I mentioned earlier
The WISE BUS DRIVER ("No, I *won't* drive through it. Stop asking me!" wink
The bespectacled uni student (Who i joked around with)
And the silent middle-aged man
After my mum freaked out and called me about six times in two minutes I managed to actually get home. Thankfully my house isn't flooded, but my neighbour's retaining wall has collapsed (they're really nice guys, but it means it's less likely that ours will fall >_o)
My friend just informed me that the ship is going to fall apart and release 700 tonnes of oil into the ocean. Oh, the joy =|
