Addiction
When one becomes to addicted to something that is bad for his/her health, he/she should stop doing that.

Well, try me. I eat lotsa ketchup (lotsa) each day, and i game till the day ends.

But what about subcategories INSIDE addictions.

Gaming for example, i'm totally hooked on RPG's. But there is a very plausible reason for that. Like i said before in one of my other journal entries, i clearly stated that i like it if my game character has "personality" In RPG's (role playing games y'know), characters always have personality, trying to make an RPG without that, is like making on on rails shooter in a free roaming world. It'd be really booooooring.....

Other people like sport's games. I'm not going to discuss that kind of game because i HATE those games (there was a journal entry about hatred somewhere too)

Yet another bunch of people like racing games. I LIKE racing games, i don't love them, but i like them. Not the realistic ones though, i'm always really good at the ones in which your reaction speed is your greatest asset in races, not your knowledge of other stuff. Powersliding, large jumps through the air, large amounts of nitrous fire http://revolutionmedia.ign.com/revolution/image/article/706/706201/excite-truck-20060509001130786.jpg
But when i lose in those type of games, i always get very mad smile

Though some people LOVE RTS games. That's where i come in. If an RTS is good, i'll play it for weeks to come in a row. If it's below awesome, i'll never play it, or maybe for just an few hours. I don't know why, it's just like that. Maybe it's because i KNOW that i play such games for long periods of time and i want to make sure that my spare time doesn't suffer much? Who knows, maybe i'm smart enough for those things after all?

Well, on to first person shooters. There can't be a single person in the world that doesn't like an good fps such as http://www.csnation.net/images/content/image_30689.jpg or http://cdn.channels.aol.com/ch_gamedaily/ss/3203/screens/3203_06.jpg?
(those were Half life 2 and Fear btw)
I always enjoy blowing people to tiny bits, making them explode in blood-showers, cutting them in half with a large circular saw blade, or bash their skull in with a large oil drum, and them making it explode! Such are the beauties in FPS games, but after talking about blowing stuff up, you're done talking about the game. The only thing left to argue about, are the graphics.

There are also free-roaming games of course. Who doesn't know free roaming games? Like crackdown or GTA, oblivion and two worlds! It's not having an actual freedom in such games, it's the ILLUSION of having a free world to walk in, there are always boundaries, so free-roaming is more of an lie than an actual truth or genre. Remember the saying "the sky is the limit"? Well, it's more like. The skybox is the limit. One of the biggest free-roaming games i've ever playes was http://media.insidegamer.nl/screenshots/public/2713/82879.jpg
(just cause) There was no skybox limit, so if you went really high, there were really annoying graphical bugs.

But let's not forget point and click adventure games! You know, monkey island?
Sam and max?
Not my favorite kind of game, i don't know much about it, so i'll just shut up so that i won't get bitched at by potential fans of stuff like that.

Well, how about action/adventure games. The best example for this kind of game would be zelda: twilight princess.
ahhhhhh. Who doesn't know the beauty of a new zelda game, it's magical, vibrant and living world. I could have never ever even thought that a game would taste so sweet. In these type of games, it'd be a large world and a good storyline that makes these games interesting. There is also the neccesary dungeon-delving of course. And new quest items and stuff like that. New swords, armor and stuff. Like a pathetic attempt at making an RPG.

Well, then we arrive at the EXTREME sports games. Not at all like football or stuff like that. No, i'm talking about snowboarding, jet-skiing, and skydiving. But especially snowboarding because there are so many games about snowboarding. biggrin
I'm really loving SSX, but the funny thing is. I HATED SSX on tour for the menu system, though everybody loved the menu... I hated it. And everyone said SSX tricky was awesome. I told everybody to STFU and play SSX3.
But SSX: blur is an real masterpiece. Sure, it takes about 1 and a half hour to actually understand how to play the game, but then it pays off! You feel one with the mountain.

Oh, and i think i know why i like to play with female characters.
As in, be them in an game of course smile
Because i am male, and i have enough time in the world to be a male, so i would like to try how life would look like a bit, if i would be female! Though games are poor simulations to be sure, but still.

But then we arrive at the crossovers part with games.
Take Sudeki http://www.xboxexclusive.com/screens/Sudeki/E3_2004/02.jpg (and no, it's on the PC too nowadays, check my previous journal for details) for example

If you choose either the ninja like character, or the warrior, the game turns hack&slash RPG. Choose the mage or support dude with guns, and the game turns FPS RPG!!! http://www.gameogre.com/reviewdirectory/upload/S.T.A.L.K.E.R.jpg
(this link is completely obligatory BTW http://www.scientia.demon.nl/GoTNDS.gif)
Which is pretty awesome, the different kinds of staffs work as machineguns, rocket launchers, anti-armor rifles and shotguns and many more!!! With the added power of healing spells, fireballs and the like, but more on that in another entry (the first one). As you can see, it works! That's called "innovation". A term that nintendo holds close to their harts http://www.theultrageeks.com/spanish/wp-content/uploads/2006/07/wii.jpg (doesn't it like like 10 times better than this black box from hell? http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2007/03/23/300_ps3b,0.jpg)
Well anyways, they're not making enough crossover like games these days. It seems that EA is playing it safe, ubisoft is making a diarrhea of CRAP games ( http://revolutionmedia.ign.com/revolution/image/article/704/704040/e3-red-steel-screens-20060501034058683.jpg , http://media.insidegamer.nl/screenshots/public/8711/79827.jpg , http://www.gamert.nl/monster4x47.gif and last, and most certainly the least. http://www.vokr.com/novinky_ze_sveta/03-01-07_4.jpg )
And i'm not hearing anything from capcom. The only nice thing is the blackhand edition of the godfather.

Metal slug anthology sounds like fun though!
Well, there should be more third party content for the wii. There just should be. It'd be awesome if dead rising 2 would be a wii game. Swinging with my wii-mote for hours, bashing zombies.
Awesome!
But i'm quite content with drawing an heart in the air with my wii-mote to do an über trick with SSX Blur.

Oh, and i'm loving the internet even harder these days. For reasons that should stay away from children under the age of 18 (and i'm 15 razz )
