Mwahahah. Welcome to my journal....The first of my secrets awaits you.
The first thing you need to know about me is that I have a very short temper. Do anything to offend me and the demons contained in my journal shall tear you limb from limb.
Well, that can hardly be expected to count as a secret....
Ahem. I am, as you probably know, if you bothered to read my profile, a MUTT. My father was a Greek god and my mother was a Scottish sprite(believe what you want from that statement). I have lived in Greece my entire life, biding my time, as my powers grow and I prepare to shroud the world in shadow....Not. I will, in less than two months, have completed the 15th year of my life.
I mentioned "a bunch of other stuff". Why do you think this Journal is called a Book of Demonz? Today I shall tell you of Elves.
The problem with words is that their meanings can be so easily twisted....
Elves are wonderful. They provoke wonder.
Elves are marvellous. They cause marvels.
Elves are fantastic. They create fantasies.
Elves are glamorous. They project glamour.
Elves are enchanting. They weave enchantment.
Elves are terrific. They beget terror.
No one ever said elves are NICE. Elves are BAD.
Elves are psychopathic beings who dwell in a parallel world to yours, and seek to dominate people by usurping their free will with glamour and false magic, enshrouding them in stories and dreams. People who give themselves completely over to stories and superstition immediately fall under their spell. Their whispers are always in the wind, but to listen to their false promises is the biggest mistake you will ever make in your soon-to-be-miserable life.
Elves have no imagination or real feelings, and people fascinate them. Because they cannot create they lure musicians and artists into their world. Because they cannot have children they steal children from other worlds to be their toys. Because they do not have empathy they enjoy the suffering of others. Even if an elf is, for reasons of its own, trying to be nice, its lack of understanding of humans mean there's always something off about it.
The elf world can latch onto other worlds at any time, allowing Elves and its other inhabitants to go hunting for prey. Elves cast an illusion-inducing glmaour on their victims. While elves are, as mentioned above, not musical, elfsong is perceived as beautiful by humans, and is highly hypnotic. Elves are generally seen as innately beautiful and stylish, but this is just another aspect of the glamour. Some of them are only vaguely humanoid.
Here is how you can protect yourelf from the Elves' glamour:
Elves are extremely vulnerable to iron. This is partly because there is no way of magicking iron, and partly that they have the ability to detect magnetic fields, and use them to navigate (as pigeons are thought to do) and even sense the thoughts of others from short distances. The presence of iron disrupts this and sends them into a panic. When there is no iron around they have the absolute confidence of beings who know exactly where they are.
Rational thought and the absence of superstition, which makes the glamour harder, is referred to by the Elves as "iron in the head".
Elves can be completely destroyed by outright denial of their existense. Like the stories they weave, they can only exist if people believe they exist.
