Some of you may have noticed that I have been scarce since Saturday. Well, I was in the NRH Hospital getting poked and prodded. I started feeling ill Friday while at work. I was freezing to death and was running a high fever, and basically just feeling like crap. So, John spoke with his Grandma Barbara, who is an RN, and she said to get me to the ER. So, we arrived at the ER at 7:30 AM on Saturday, and were about to leave at 3 PM when the nurses checked my temperature which was 101*F. The doctor said that was the sign they had been waiting for, and they said they'd have to get me up to the ICU to be under close observation. So I spent a day and a night in ICU, and then was moved to the main hospital on Monday. I was discharged today Tuesday, at 12 PM. Fun, FUN.
What could have caused this, you ask? It turns out I have Hyperactive Thyroids. They are those things in your neck that make hormones, and mine are enlarged causing me to loose 50lbs in the last few months, and to be tired and moody. My thyroids basically caused my body to start eating itself, ergo I had to eat multiple times a day, but I was still loosing weight like crazy. I am glad, however, we did go to the hospital, because I was close to going into Thyroid Storm, which is potentially life threatening.
So, the next step in my life is to go to a thyroid doctor, and he will give me this radioactive pill to kill off the overactive thyroid, and make me Hypo Thyroidistic. (You can't win em all..) So then my thyroids will not be making enough hormones and I'll have to take medication for the rest of my life. Oh wells. Oh yeah, and I can't eat lots anymore...
