Well, I figure I might as well use this for something, so here's a list of books everyone should read. I think I'll add one every week, with somewhere between five and ten books each. Yeah. Sounds good. These are in no particular order, mind. I couldn't give you the best book ever written... so don't ask.
1. The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger - An amazing book that I would highly recommend to just about everyone, but particularly to those who are, like me, hopeless romantics. It's beautiful, funny, sad, and hopeful, all at the same time. I'd like to say more, but I shan't.
2. The Ramayana by Valmiki - The great Hindu epic detailing the life and accomplishments of Rama, one of the many incarnations of the god Vishnu. It is on many levels a religious text, but don't let that stop you - it's exciting, engaging, and a beautiful story. I really couldn't laud it enough. Fans of myth and legend can't miss it. If you liked the Odyssey, then you simply must read this; it's that good. And speaking of which...
3. The Odyssey by Homer - Greek epic poem, blahdeblah... honestly, if you haven't read this by now, I pity you, and I shake my fist at your teachers. It's a staple of Western literature, and for good reason.
4. Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad - Seen Apocalypse Now? Liked it? Read this book. Even if you haven't, actually, read this book.
5. The Otherland quartet by Tad Williams - Okay, so it's more than one book, but seriously. Amazing stuff here. It's sci-fi by definition, but even if you despise the stuff, you've got to give this a try. I don't like it much myself, to tell the truth, and I adored these books. Among the best I've ever read. My summaries are horrible, find your own.
Aaaaaaaaand that's it for now. Go read, damn it.
