Mom: Daniel! Are you ready yet?
Daniel: Just a minute mom!

He ran down the stairs and saw his mom talking to Jenny at the table.

Daniel: Oh! Hey Jenny!
Jenny: I figured since it was orientation today, why not walk together?
Daniel: Good point.
Mom: Oh my gosh! Look at the time! You two better get going before you're late!
Jenny: Right.

They left and walked towards the academy.

Daniel: You know, you don't look half bad in that headband.
Jenny: Is that an insult or a compliment!?
Daniel: Calm down! It was a compliment!
Jenny: Good.
Daniel: Hey, what's that running noise?

They turned around and saw Ino and Sakura running towards them cheek to cheek.

Jenny: What the-?
Daniel: Get out of the way!

He pulled Jenny out of the street right before they ran over her.

Jenny: I bet they would've turned!
Daniel: They weren't looking forward, just glaring at each other. You should know those two by now. Weren't they two of your best friend a couple years ago?
Jenny: Until they became obsessed with Sasuke.
Daniel: Right... Well, we better start heading that way again.

They continued walking until they made it to the academy. When they walked into the room, they saw something that they hoped they would never have to see. Sasuke and Naruto were kissing.

Daniel: What the heck!?
Jenny: Oh... my... god...

Then Naruto and Sasuke pulled away from each other like they had been choking.

Daniel: I guess being ninjas changes how you are more then I thought...
Jenny: Shut up!

She hit his arm.

Daniel: Ow...
Jenny: Wimp.
Kim: There you guys are! Where have you been? You were almost late!
Jenny: Well, Daniel had to get ready.
Daniel: My alarm clock didn't go off! It's not my fault!
Kim: Sure. Whatever. Have you guys seen Jordan?
Daniel: No. Is he not here yet?
Kim: Not yet. I'm worried. I think his dad did something...
Daniel: Every time we think that, it ends up just being that he's late.
Jordan: Well, if you and Jenny weren't blocking the doorway!
Daniel: Oh! Sorry...
Jordan: I'm just messing with you man.
Jenny: Well, what took you so long?
Jordan: Umm... don't worry about it... appearantly I missed something... why are all of the girls beating on Naruto? ... Wait a minute! I thought he failed!
Daniel: That's right! I totally forgot! What is he doing here!?
Iruka sensei: He passed, now sit down for the orientation.

Iruka sensei walked up behind them. He was also late. After he got everyone seated...

Iruka Sensei: As of today, you are all ninjas. To get here, you faced difficult trials and hardships, but that's nothing. What comes next will be far more difficult. Now you are only Genin, first level ninjas. Each Genin will be grouped into three-man squads. Each squad will be lead by a Jonin, an elite ninja.
Daniel: Just great. That means we could be separated...
Jenny: I know. This sucks.
Jordan: Well, lets just hope that two of us stick together in each squad.
Kim: And the odds of that happening are?
Jordan: Good point.
Iruka Sensei: We want each squad to have a balance of strength and abilities. That's how we set them up. I will now announce the squads:
Squad 1: Ryan, Chris, Adrian
Squad 2: Daniel, Jenny, Kim
Jordan: No!
Daniel: Crap... don't worry Jordan, we can still hang out when we aren't doing missions.
Jordan: I guess you're right...
Iruka Sensei: Squad 3: Jordan, Paul, Travis
Travis & Paul: Yes!
Iruka Sensei: Squad 4: Carolina, Jessie, Ashely
Squad 5: .....
Daniel: Well, at least you got some decent people...
Jordan: Who are they?
Daniel: ... the nerdiest people in the class...
Jordan: Well, at least I'll look better next to them in comparison.
Daniel: That's the spirit!
Iruka Sensei: Squad 7: Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno-
Naruto: Yes!
Sakura: I'm doomed...
Iruka Sensei: And... Sasuke Uchiha
Sakura: Yes!
Naruto: I'm doomed...
Iruka Sensei: Next, squad 8: Hinata Hyuga, Kiba Imizuka, and Shino Aburame.
Squad 9: Josh, Ricky, Elizabeth
Now Squad 10: Ino Yamanaka, Shikamaru Nara-
Shikamaru: Hah! Did you say something about hating to be on my squad?
Iruka Sensei: And Choji Akamichi. Those are all the squads.
Naruto: Iruka Sensei, why does a great ninja like me have to be in the same group as a slug like Sasuke?
Iruka Sensei: Sasuke had the best scores of all the graduating students. Naruto, you had the worst scores! To create a balanced group, we put the best student with the worst student.
Sasuke: Just make sure you don't get in my way, loser.
Naruto: What did you say!?
Sakura: Knock it off, Naruto! Sit down!
Iruka Sensei: Ahem! After lunch, you'll meet your new Jonin teacher. Until then, class dismissed.

Jordan figured he'd go try and get to know his team, so he left us during lunch.

Daniel: Well, at least we don't have to get to know each other.
Kim: Ya, but I feel sorry for Jordan. He got pairs with those nerds.
Jenny: Aren't we nerds?
Daniel: No where close to as bad as them...
Jenny: Whatever. what do you guys want for lunch?
Kim: Ramen!
Daniel: Why doesn't this surprise me?
Jenny: I wonder who would eat more ramen, her or Naruto...
Daniel: We could take bets on that and earn some money.
Jenny: Ya...
Kim: What are you guys talking about?
Daniel: Nothing!
Kim: Anyway, are we going to get ramen or not?
Daniel: I've had ramen with you every day for the past week! I've had enough!
Jenny: Ya, seriously Kim, our stomachs can only take so much...
Daniel: I'm craving some rice balls.
Jenny: Those do sound good!
Kim: Aww...
Daniel: Majority rules! Rice balls it is!
Kim: You guys can get rice balls at the ramen place!
Daniel & Jenny: We aren't going to the ramen place!
Kim: Fine, I'll have rice balls...
Daniel: Good.

After lunch, they went back inside the academy and saw students meeting up with their Jonin teachers. Jordan's group got Anko. They kept looking for our squad leader until we came to Ibiki Morino.

Daniel: Crap... this guy...
Jenny: What's wrong with him?
Daniel: My dad invited him over to our house one time. He is the strictest person I have ever met...
Kim: I'll ask him if he wants some ramen!
Daniel: No!
Kim: But everyone loves ramen!
Daniel: ... No mentioning ramen for the next two days please!
Kim: .....
Ibiki: Are you squad 2?
Daniel: Yes...
Ibiki: Good, come with me. We will do introductions later.
Daniel: Yes sir...
Ibiki: Wait a minute... aren't you David's boy?
Daniel: Yes sir...
Ibiki: Hmph. Don't be like your father.
Daniel: What's wrong with my father!?
Ibiki: ..... Never mind. Just come with me.

We followed him into the woods of the village.

Ibiki: We will be staying here for the night.
Daniel: But we didn't bring any food, or any things to sleep with!
Ibiki: You probably wont be sleeping, boy.
Daniel: Then what will we be doing?
Ibiki: A survival exercise.
Daniel: Another exercise? What the heck!? I thought we were done with exercises! We did all of those in the academy!
Ibiki: Don't question my judgment! I swear, you're already on the path of being like your father.
Daniel: Stop bringing my father up! If he was here, he'd be kicking your-
Ibiki: Your father isn't coming back!
Daniel: ..... What!?
Ibiki: I said, your father will not be coming back to the village.
Daniel: You know something about my father... Tell me now!
Ibiki: You will figure out soon enough! Soon the whole village will know about the betrayal of your father! As we speak, the ANBU Black Ops are chasing him down!
Daniel: No, no, no, no, no...
Jenny: Stop it sensei! Can't you see your hurting him by saying these things!?
Ibiki: He asked.
Daniel: You're wrong... You're wrong about my father! My father would never do that!
Ibiki: You don't know your father... We'll start the exercise tomorrow... I think we all need time with the information just passed. Until tomorrow then. And don't bring anything, except your ninja gear.

By that time, Daniel had already been crying. Jenny got down on her knees to comfort him. Ibiki walked away not caring about what he had just done.

Jenny: Daniel, don't listen to Ibiki Sensei.
Daniel: *sniff* He is not my sensei! *sniff*
