Twisted and dark creatures stood around the black void that connected the world of humans to the world of demons. They began dragging the recently collected bodies of humans and animals alike and tossing them into the rift. The bloodied and broken bodies would be immediately swallowed up by the shadows and then would be replaced by more demons who would rip and claw their way out of the void before they could be pulled back in. A tall pale man stood to one side watching everything with a slight small tugging at the corners of his thin lips. He held the ancient black book in his hands and caressed it unconsciously as he watched more and more demons appear from the rift. The more sacrifices that where given to it, the more demons came out, each more powerful than the next. "You seem happy." came a voice that whispered into his ear, almost seductively. "Why wouldn't I be? Soon our Lord will be freed and then this world shall once again bath this world in blood and darkness." his smile widened as he felt the speakers hands wrap themselves around his waist. "How soon? You are slow to have more sacrifices collected. We have barely even opened the void. You shall grow old before we can release Him." The thin lipped man chuckled good naturedly "We cannot rush these things. If we were to kill to many to quickly, if we were to make our presence known then the humans will panic and though we are stronger they are greater in numbers and could easily destroy us all." He took one last look at the rift before turning to leave. "It will not matter if they find us first." the voice called after him. "I will be greatly disappointed if they dont try to stop us." was all he said as he left the warehouse and drove away.
Ryuko and Alex ended up staying at the hospital for another three days before they were finally released. Which was a big relief to both girls but for different reasons. Ryuko was anxious to leave, she told her family it was because she was missing so much what with classes and Student Council meetings going on without her. But she knew that it was because of what had happened that day in the alley and the dream she had had afterwards. Though she could not remember it, she knew that it had been something profound and disturbing. Ryuko kept having the distinct feeling that something bad was happening somewhere and was under the impression that it had something to do with what had happened to her and Alex the other day and these feelings only made her edgy and nervous and jump at sudden noises. Alex, on the other hand, was bored out of her mind and seemed to have more energy than normal and the doctors and nurses kept finding her out of bed practicing her martial arts or doing some exercise or other. Both of their families visited them every day and tried their best to keep them company and entertained but non the less they were both eager to leave.
As soon as Ryuko got home she went to her room and spent the next several hours researching demons and the occult. She was certain, beyond a doubt, that whatever had attacked her and Alex and had killed all of those other people had been demons. The possibility of them being some sort of human experiment gone horribly wrong or hostile aliens was positively absurd. So the only logical answer, if you could call it logical, was that they were demons. Ryuko found alot of information on demons, black magic, and such but they didnt really seem to answer her questions but only created more. She only stopped her research when her step mother called her down for dinner where she hardly talked to anyone and could only think of what she had learned. As soon as diner was over and all the dishes had been cleared, Ryuko was back in her room and on her computer and remained there until bed.
