AUGH My Eyes! After staring at a computer for hours on end, this is how my brain feels. And yet, strangely enough, we enjoy this. Can anyone tell me why that is? I mean, seriously, it's like an addiction to a harmful, legal drug. Why do we do it? (The question is rhetorical). We do it for the simple reason, that the vast majority of those who spend hours glued to our keyboards, are quite frankly geeks. That is, we enjoy such pleasures as watching Star Trek reruns, pouring over Star Wars books, playing World of Warcraft, Wii, or any of the other million electronic games that we so happily glue our fingers to, listening to J-rock bands scream in Japanese while electronic guitars and violins sing behind them, and pouring over the latest manga we spent hours looking for in Barnes or Boarders. What is so disturbing about these obsessions? Well, in my opinion, absolutely nothing. I mean we're smart, we know that we could completely fry our brains by the time we're fifty, but who really cares? I know I don't. So why did I bring it up? Hmmm, not sure.
