Powers: I - Song of the Ashblood. A haunting, sometimes piercing sound which is as mournful as the wind through the jagged clefts of Aloi, used by the ashblood priests and priestesses to manipulate the sacred ashes they carry with them at all times. While they sing any ashes to act for them, the priests can perform amazing acts with their sacred ashes, from spreading them into pillars of darkness to compressing them into sharp edges to lash the unbelieving with.
II - Blood of Aloi. After their purification ritual at the age of 18, all Ashblood priests are rumored to have the very flames of the Volcano run through their veins. When cut or scratched, their fiery blood spills forth, making them a fearsome sight to behold in battle. They ritually use their blood to create new sacred ashes from living creatures, and it is said that a true Ashblood priest will be warm even in the coldest blizzards.
III - Sigils of the Living Flame. By using either their own blood or ashes, the Ashblood holy ones can imbue sigils and crests with the demonic powers of Aloi, which grant those powers to the objects or people they are applied to. The most common use of these sigils is to mark the priests' own garments before battle, hardening them to the strength of demon skin, and using them on wounds after battles to cause a person's inner fire to blaze more brightly, healing, or at least granting them more strength with which to fight the wounds.
Quest Accept: Yes and no. Kiyota has been dispatched officially as a sign of goodwill by the Ashblood Order, supposedly to help King Gelone find the cure for his daughter. In reality, her orders are to return the flower to the Rageflame Chasm where the head of her Order resides for their own use.
Bio: The priestess Detya was only nineteen when she had her first child, a boy named Kulor. She was a powerful priestess, and by the age of twenty five, she had earned the title "Tongue of Zulu" amongst her fellows for her devotion to the demon and her ability to channel their shrieking tongue and translate it. At the age of twenty six, she had her second child, a baby girl. As per tradition, she slaughtered her own eldest child to grant the newborn the blessings of the demons.
Thus, Kiyota came into the world with the blood of her own brother. Raised from her infancy to be a strong, powerful woman, Kiyota promised to follow her mother's footsteps, mastering every tenet of the Ashen Tablets and becoming a priestess at the age of twelve. Raised mostly in isolation even from her own people, Kiyota's loyalty to her mother and the Ashblood order is second to none, and she was the first to volunteer herself for the "purification" ritual at the age of eighteen.
Passing it without mark or disfigurement, she was a perfect symbol of what an Ashblood priest should be. Proud, strong, unyielding, and wielding all the forces of the demonic-inhabited volcano, she was appointed Emissary of the Kindling Flame immediately after her purification. The responsibilities of the post were to train Arlan's children, to teach them the strength and power they would need to thrive in the world. Going from the isolated obsidian hallways of her order was difficult for the young woman, but she threw herself into her work with all the passion of the flames which she worshipped.
She often found herself teaching adolescents and young adults older than herself in all things, how to properly respect demonic forces, how to forge and wield maintain blades of true Arlan steel, and how to wield those blades against the soft, weak peoples outside of Arlan. By the time her commission as an emissary of flame had ended, Kiyota was responsible for the deaths of fifteen young people. But those who survived her training revered Kiyota as a demon herself, and the strength that her ways had given them was apparent to the bloodthirsty Order for which she labored. Just before her twenty-third birthday, she was appointed Emissary of the Distant Flame, and sent to create a pretense of diplomatic ties between Arlan and Delock and to learn Delock's weaknesses and ways.
All her life before that was flame and fury, and "fitting in" at the Delock Court was difficult for Kiyota. But the same strength that carried her through her training back in Arlan kept her together in the lush lands of Delock and made her many friends in the court. She became well known for her warm, passionate smile, and her intense, almost frightening amber gaze. When news of the princesses illness reached Arlan, she was officially ordered by her order to aid the King and the Princess, and secretly to steal the power of the Amaranth for her own people.

Crimson robes edged with black always trail along behind Kiyota's lithe form as she moves about. Never standing still, this young woman radiates a sense of power, everything from her brilliant amber eyes to her sharply accented words snaps of command. Once past that, she might be any young Arlan woman, with her raven hair kept in an elaborate hairdo and her dark brown, almost chocolate-colored skin. She is surprisingly short for someone so commanding, standing at a diminutive 5' 2" even with the blackened and worn boots that she always wears beneath her sleeve-less robes.
