The World That you Know is all inside your head
Here are my random thoughts & ideas, rants & opinions. Basically me being myself. Maybe the occasional creativeness I have returned to. Also things that I have found to hold meaning.
Wall-E vs. Texas
Today, I took the kids to see Wall-E. My 8 year old told me it was the best movie he has ever seen.

I really enjoyed it, too. Very funny & cute. Really good job at giving personalities to robots.

But something that isn't shown in the previews...there are huge messages in the movie that people really need to pay attention to. I know the movie is brand new and the messages are a huge spoiler if I were to say it. So if you don't want to hear, stop now.

The message was that humans trashed up Earth and left for a space colony while robots did the work of cleaning up everything so natural life can thrive again. Meanwhile, humans relied on robots for everything that they lost common everyday knowledge and could not do anything for themselves and watched TV nonstop. The new way of life was an easier answer to the problem...and no one questioned it. So earth was abandoned and people turned into obese couch potatoes.

But, let's just say that after watching the whole movie & these huge messages...none of the Texan audience that I sat among (I'm living in TX currently...I feel like such an outsider here) seemed to see this obvious message. It's the first movie I've seen at the theatres in TX. Anyhow...at lease TWO-THIRDS of the audience left ALL of their TRASH (drinks, popcorn, etc) at their seats when they left the theatre even though they walked right past trash cans on the way out. I was so dismayed at the uncaring mentality here. To give you an idea, we saw the first showing of the day by the way and the theatre was almost full.

Then I got this huge lecture from my 6 year old daughter about how Texas doesn't care about the Earth. My son wanted to move out of Texas immediately.

Well, at least my kids saw the messages which were brought to real life so clearly from the movie and then after seeing the large number of trash left behind by lazy people in the theatre.

It is enhanced on a daily basis with all the "Texas" sized vehicles and meals...trash throughout the land. Let me add that Texas is biggest on one thing in the US. It's the most polluted state and it has absolutely no planning of correcting it...and that's from Newsweek. Actually, it really doesn't have preventive planning on a whole lot of things.
