It should be said that I have a horrible time finding people that I mesh well with in a role-playing sense. I've probably had good writing chemistry with a whole 3 people in my life, and only one of them I still talk to. I guess it's because I have so many anger management issues when it comes to RP. I'm not picky, but some things just send me off the deep end into a whole lake of pissed off. Allow me to enlighten you.
First and foremost, I cannot stand reading things written by people who seem like they're trying far too hard. It's painful to look at and it rarely ever flows in a way that allows the writing styles of both RPers to mesh. It's not like I'm asking them to give birth to a cube so there's no reason for their writing to be so constipated and jammed with enough adjectives to choke Lord Tennyson. I like people who describe just enough to get their point across.
I also don't like writing a paragraph or two of RP text and then having it be countered with "*she looks at him with wide eyes*". First of all, past-tense please!! Holy Jesus! This isn't happening in real time. It's a story! That aside, I will reach through the computer and beat you savagely if you counter with one-liners... or even worse, one-liners in brackets. GUH!!! ...I think I just had a brain aneurysm.
Aside from that, I'm a really forgiving role-player. I'm not a stickler for spelling because I realize that we're not all walking dictionaries. I'm also not a grammar nazi, as long as your mistakes are within reason and you're trying you best to match the length of what I'm sending to you. See? I'm not a bad guy, really. Just frustrated with the lack of good RP.
