Chapter 1: The Beginning [Flame]
My name is Chitose Chidori. I'm only allowed to use my powers at night. I've only had a few friends, but now I must call them acquaintances. On the outside, we may seem like average people, but it's not always an outward appearance. Looks may surprise you.

I've put myself in danger by telling you my real name but as a group we have nicknames, to protect ourselves and hide. Thankfully, our teachers and the people around us only know us by them. They're only five of us. Three girls and two boys. There's Cry, Fly, and I, Flame. The boys we call them Rock and Seph. Water, Wind, Fire, Earth, and Darkness.

It all started during that day. We were walking down the street heading towards school like any normal group of kids. Our first day as eight graders. Our first day to a new school, and the day that changed our lives forever.

When I'd waken up from a dream, I found my other friends and I in a hospital room. Side by side, each of us on a bed. At that moment a nurse walked in to check on how we were doing. Sitting up quickly, a sharp splintering pain instantly hit my head. The woman merely looked at me and questioned. "What are you doing up. From the hit you took you shouldn't be up for a few days." I blinked in confusion at the woman, and opened my mouth to speak. "Hit? You mean by a Phoenix, right?" I'd listened to the words once more in my head and realized what I'd just asked was a ridiculous question.

The nurse just stared blankly at me, almost as she'd just seen an idiot run by. "Of course not. You were hit by a car." Exiting the room, the door slammed behind the nurse. Almost as a chain reaction, my friends sat up in their beds shouting out an animal name. Cry yelled Swan, Fly yelled Falcon, Rock yelled Dog, and Seph sat up, his eyes drifting towards me, saying nothing. After a few seconds, silence had entered the room as we looked at one another confused.

The door swung open as the nurse had entered the room once more to see all of us sitting up in our beds. "What are you doing up? Take some more rest you-" The woman was cut off by a shrieking scream that pierced out ears. I threw the covers from my bed and instantly got out from it despite my injuries. Looking back, I'd noticed every one else had gotten up and out as well.

Taking off down the hallways of the hospital to were the scream was heard I noticed Seph running beside me like it was a race. He gave me a charming smirk as he raced ahead. What in the world was he thinking? As we all rushed down the hallways, the screams and yells advanced in our ears. I ,of course, reached the room first. I swung the door open and to my eyes I glanced quickly around the pitch black room. I soon after heard the other come up behind me. My eyes had to adjust to the darkness till I was able to make something out, a small figure in the middle of the room. The figure walked towards me, my eyes adjusted more to figure out that it was a person. No, a small child at least the age of ten or so. The skin on her face seemed to be melting off of her like candle wax as it burned.

The girls pale skin made it seem like she was glowing. If the skin had seemed to be in place, she would have been very beautiful. She had brown chestnut hair and brown eyes. I felt another sharp pain in my back as Seph had run into me from behind. His eyes stared at the little girl with no emotion. My gaze drifted back towards the girl as it seemed like she didn't move. 'Was she burned? Why does she look like she's melting? Why does she look like ME?!' These thoughts raced my mind. The little girl had looked exactly like I did when I was younger, although now I had raven black hair. That made me think out loud as my hand touched my hair. "Raven.." The word slipped past my lips in a whisper. I looked over at Seph once more as he stared at me, this time there was an expression. He seems half frightened and half terrified.

'What did I do?'
I thought seeing his expression was directed towards me. Instantly, from the corner of my eye the bright figure was now standing in front of us. The small hand reached up to me so close to grabbing the sleeve of my jacket. My eyes widened in terror. I couldn't move, I was frightened and I didn't know what to do. As the girl opened her mouth an eerie whispered floated in the air. It was calling to us, the words the girl spoke, I could've never forget. "Help Me! I don't know what to do! It hurts!" That moment I was able to move enough to only blink once. The girl had vanished right before our eyes. 'Was that a cry for help? Who was that girl? Why did she look like me? Was that myself crying for help?' All of a sudden the world had seemed to stop and the questions in my mind came flooding in.

I felt the other bump into us as my questionable world came back to reality. My gaze drifted back towards Seph's still terrified expression. His eyes still fixed on the very spot the girl had stood in front of us. I'd known Seph since we were little kids. Maybe...just maybe, he remembered as well....
