Appearance: Unremarkable, though rather effeminate, geek-boy. That's Anthony in a nutshell. Standing at about 5'3" tall and weighing in at a whopping 103lbs, Anthony's built like a scarecrow: light and lanky. He's got his mother's gray-green eyes and raven colored hair. Stick straight and very fine, his hair hangs to about his waist when not loosely bound (usually with a simple hair band or short ribbon) back at the base of his neck. Due to his mostly indoor lifestyle, as well as his poor health, his skin tends to stay on the paler end of the spectrum. He has a small vertical scar across his lips on the right side from a childhood accident involving a particularly aggressive wall corner.
Both ears are pierced with simple silver studs, though he occasionally trades them out for small silver hoops. Due to his usual budget, he wears simple, rectangular, black, wire-framed glasses instead of contacts. When not in his school uniform, Anthony tends to prefer dark blue jeans and turtlenecks, button up or polo shirts in subdued tones of gray, red, and/or blue. On his left pinky finger he always wears a simple, sterling silver band. It holds a special significance for him, though he won't say why.
Personality: He can be a bit of a doormat when it comes to dealing with other people. Generally quiet and reserved, Anthony tends to keep to himself (especially around large crowds). Around people he's not familiar with, he has a tendency to act very jumpy and nervous, as though he's terrified of them. He's not terribly social, however around his friends, he can be rather cheerful and enthusiastic. He tries to be kind and civil to everyone, but he can get emotional under duress. He doesn't like to be the center of attention, preferring to be on the sidelines where he can watch and analyze.
Though shy, Anthony is extremely loyal to his friends and would gladly sacrifice his health and happiness to save theirs. Unfortunately, that tends to get him into rather unpleasant situations, sometimes ending with him needing medical attention. He greatly dislikes being fussed over, not wanting to be a burden to anyone if he can help it. With a lack of confidence, combined with a poor self image and lack of self worth, Anthony can be a bit self-destructive. He doesn't take the best care of himself, while at the same time he shows a great deal of concern for the health and welfare of those around him.
Background: Anthony was born to an average middle class working family in England. However, complications at birth not only lead to his mother's passing away, but also left him with severely weakened cardiac and respiratory systems (heart/lungs). His entire life he's been in and out of hospitals, though in the past decade his condition seems to have stabilized through daily prescription medication.
He's also had the unfortunate luck of being a target for several bullies in the past. He's always been physically weaker than his peers, and with as feminine as he looks and acts, he's often considered a sissy-boy or a pansy. Not one for sports, he's always been more of an academic and artistic based person, which set him apart from the general populous of most of his former schools. The most common form of harassment has always been verbal teasing and/or insults, though he has been physically assaulted on more than one occasion.
Despite all that, Anthony's childhood was pretty decent in his mind. He's had a very close knit group of friends while going through school, and it wasn't until high school that he really ran into major problems with bullies. Aside from the sporadic instances of being 'accidentally' tripped, run into, or otherwise jostled around, there was only one or two major physical attacks. His roommate in the dorms of Pennsic Academy (an all boys school) constantly threatened Anthony with violence and physical harm if he didn't do exactly what he said. Anthony, being the doormat he is, rarely brought down the other boy's wrath. However, at one point the other boy and his group of friends nearly hospitalized Anthony, and he refuses to speak of the event to anyone, not even his father.
While his father spent most of his time away at work, he loved his son deeply and made a point of spending as much time with him as he could. Supporting and encouraging him all the way through school, Marcus (Anthony's father) was very proud when he learned his son had earned an academic scholarship to a prestigious boarding school. He constantly worries about his son, especially about the condition of his health and wellbeing. He has high hopes for Anthony, feeling that he will do well if given the chance.
