The story of an angel who just didn't belong
The End ~4~
The door to the supply closet couldn't take much more abuse. One of the creatures pounded on the outside. With each strike, the hinges threatened to break. Inside, Shade tried to explain to Theo what was going on, but the constant slamming against the door made it impossible. His fist clenched tightly at his his side as the anger within him rose to dangerous levels. It was hard to make Shade lose his cool, but the beast was pissing him off. He grabbed a metal broom at the side of the room and held it in front of him. With his elbow, he busted off the broom head, making sure to leave jagged edges.
Shade flung open the door, knocking the beast back, and jumped into the air. His scarf blew behind him as he flew across the distance between them. He landed, just before falling into the creature, on one knee. Using the unbroken end, he hit the beast under the jaw. It reared up in pain unto its' hind legs, flailing its' thick arms wildly. While standing that way, it left its' soft underside and heart exposed. With one thrust, Shade pierced the beasts heart.
It fell to the floor, gurgling and spitting up thick red blood, still flailing its' arms in some failing attempt to save its' life. The large green orbs that were its' eyes lost the wild anger that had filled them up when it was struck. Shade stepped back, leaving the make-shift spear in its' chest. He turned from the beast that was now a rotting pile of flesh. It's body seemed to rot faster than anything normally should. Already, it was nearly indiscernible.
Shade grabbed Theo's hand to try and move her, but she resisted. "No! You are going to tell me what those 'things' are and why they are here. Until then, I'm not moving!" She shouted at him. He was taken slightly off guard by this, but then smiled, though it went unseen.
"If I must. Those 'things' are grunts. I know, a dull name for a dull beast. They're most basic of magical creature, created by an excess of unused magic. They can, however, be created with spells. It isn't used to often, they do make good minions. As for why they're here..." He pointed at her book bag.
"My books?"
"One in particular." He watched as she pulled out the book he had given to her. "I had thought the book safe with you, but I see I was wrong. That book isn't just some old dusty book, within its' leather binding is written the prophecies of the end of the world and the end for all of those that inhabit this world. This is why the book is of such high importance. Some one wants to know what it holds within and is willing to do what ever it takes to get it." Shade stared off into the distance, lost in a hazy eyed world of his own thoughts. Snapping to and shaking his head, he turned back to Theo. "Now can we go?"
She nodded, somewhat hesitantly. Shade took the spear out of the grunts chest with one hand and Theo's hand in the other. Together, they ran through the school, on their way to the main hall. The cold tiles echoed each of their hastened footsteps as they ran. Soon, the main hall came into sight. A single grunt stood at the end of the hall, barring their path. As they came up on it, Shade readied his spear. Seconds before they collided, he was engulfed in blue flames flames cleared just as quickly as they had came. Where they were was the spear and a charred circle.
And Shade was gone.
Not being able to stop and ask questions, Theo picked up the spear into her shaking hands. She wasn't sure what to do, but she knew something had to be done before it was too late. She knelt, readying her spear by pressing it into the toe of her shoe to brace it. The grunt barreled at her, crushing the tiles beneath its' heavy feet. She closed her eyes tight, praying that nothing would go wrong.
The grunts throat slid into the spear, killing it after a few gasped breaths. Thick warm blood flowed like a fountain down onto her face. She dropped the spear and backed away quickly, spitting out the blood that had found its' way into her mouth. All at once, she realized what she had just done. Horror consumed her face as she stared at the grunt she had killed. She had killed. Her gaze rested on her hands, now stained with blood. Her entire body began to shake. She couldn't truly comprehend what had happened. She couldn't quite realize what she had done. Its' death was caused by her. She couldn't take it. Her head felt light and the room spun. She lost her footing in the surge of dizziness. The ground rushed up to meet her.
Then darkness.

Because it seems similar.
But if i remember correctly [I read alot that night. I may have confused the stories a bit.] then there were still defferences.
Are they related?
Either way, I really enjoyed reading it.
