a look inside the gaian
Cervion's story (revised)
Due to the recent visit of some guests, cervion divulged some information that was quite disturbing. so, we will let him tell his story, so that important details arent missed.

"damn"

I was forced to watch as the accursed felix tore what was left of my family to shreds, then slit his own throat. As the dark veil of death started creeping over my eyes, i saw the ghostly figure- a cloud of smoke, if you will- eminate from his bleeding body, assume the rough shape of a wolf, and "run" into the forest.
Cursing everything I had, I coughed up a small amount of blood, and closed my eyes.

The darkness of being from your body was pleasant, but it was the fact that I felt nothing that was comforting. Like getting hit by a car, feeling the full force- then nothing. I didn't know which way was up, but as i reached behind me, i felt something solid- like a floor, or wall.
I manuvered myself to where my feet were on the floor, and it seemed like gravity kicked in, because then i could walk. sitting on the wall/floor, I then decided to take inventory of wounds. though i couldnt see anything, my sense of touch had returned, and I felt across the spots on my body where felix had struck and killed me.
It wasn't smooth- there were ragged gashes where he had hit me, but there was no blood, no wetness, no pain.
I then dared to see how deep the cuts were, and they were as deep as they were when I lay on the grass- all the way to the bone.
Finding my voice, i breathed in a choked breath, and shouted, "hello?!" for my senses were returning, and i was now self-aware. pain, sight, and taste were still unusable, and there was no sound.. so i had no idea my ears worked till i shouted- they did.

There was no reply, only a hand on the small of my back. startled, i turned and attempted to backhand whomever it was who touched me, only to be met with the sickening crunch of what i only had to assume was the bones in either my hand or arm.

"My child, it seems that you've died. and so early too"

Knowing that another attack was just going to break another bone, I took the initiative and stepped back a few paces.

"There's no need to be afraid, after all, whats the worst thing that could happen now?'

The voice was monotone, so I couldnt tell the persons gender, but it had the accent of an englishman. which irritated me greatly.

"I saw everything that happened to you, that fight wasn't quite fair. I can offer you a rematch- a second chance at life, but it'll cost you."

Shaking with blind fury at the reminder of the beastly figure that had bound into the forest, I grabbed the front of its shirt with my only good hand, and said with as much venom as I could muster from my broken and beaten body:

"There is no price that is too high for a second chance at that third-rate, homewrecking, lying, cheating... THING!"

it laughed, and only then did it have a gender. It was a male, there was no mistaking it- he let himself use his real voice.

"This price will be suitable, seeing as I myself wish to see this were dead. The price: the soul of your first wife, and in return- I give you as many lives it takes to bring this one down"

I nodded, I had already known that there wasn't a chance that I, or any of my other incarnations would be able to have that kind of compassion, so there was a loophole that I could exploit.

"when is the soonest I can have another attempt?" I asked

he laughed and replied, "In one year, your real body is repairing itself as we speak. but don't fret, a year here flies by when you can't judge time. as a matter of fact, since you've gotten here, a month has passed.

My jaw dropped. A month? it had only seemed like a few hours. Sitting down on the wall/floor, I looked up, hoping to meet his gaze and said.
"well, if i am to work for you, it would only be fair if i knew your name."

there was silence for a few seconds, and he replied, "the name is saiyas, you would do well to remember it."

then there was silence, and i was forced to sit and wait.
I only had time to sleep once, and when i awoke, i did it in degrees.
When I opened my eyes, they weren't met by darkness, it was met by the soft light of a lightning bug. I sat up and checked my surroundings- I was in a forest, on a bed of autumn leaves.

"well i'll be damned, he made good on his promise"

standing up, I brushed the leaves from the clothes I had worn when I died. they were still cut and ragged, but the wounds had healed and scarred. quite a nice look actually.

I looked to the ground in an attempt to find my fathers onyx sword, but sometime along the years, some lucky fool found it and probably sold it. but, stuck in the stump of a tree, where one would think to find a woodcutters' axe, was a sword, just the blade and no scabbard.

testing the edge of the material, I judged it to be a new material, one that I had never before seen. Stamped in the side of the metal was the words "Stainless Steel". I had no idea what the word "stainless" meant, but since the edge was blunt, and nobody had been here for ages, I assumed it was the type of metal that didn't rust- very handy.
Grabbing the blade, i removed it from the tree, and ventured out of the woods.

There was a nearby city, where I went to try to find the nearest blacksmith, to ask if i could borrow his whetstone, i could make a guard and handle later.

He was a kind old man, and he furnished the wood to make the handle, and allowed me to even re-temper the metal before i sharpened it, so that the blade wouldn't shatter under the force of the wheel.

Thanking him for his help, I walked out, and noticed a little extra weight on my belt where I had placed the sword temporarily. It was a small bag of coins and a note. opening the note, the letter read:
"please use this money towards a scabbard and new clothes, good luck"
that old man was too generous.

Obeying the terms of the note, (like i had a choice) I stepped out of the tradehouse with new clothes, and made my way to the armory, surely the men there had a scabbard that fit. Upon entering the small building, my ears were instantly bombarded by arguments between two people on one wall. ignoring them, i approached the shopkeeper and purchased a scabbard. Ensuring the blade was a good fit, i thanked the keep, and headed out. When I reached the door, one of the arguments trailed to a subject that made me come to a complete stop.

"Oh yeah, and now you're going to start telling me that the recent perils in the outlying villages are being caused by a bear! Im telling you, there's something out there that is not human, or an animal! its too smart to be an animal, and its too strong to be human!"

Turning to the man, he then told me that there was a rumor that people were dying in horrible and gruesome ways, and that all the towns that the incidents started would eventually burn within the week.

I thanked him, turned, and ran to the nearest guild house- I was going to need training.
