Birth
From the day he was born, Jin was always considered a freak, an outcast, a monster. Even with his mostly cool and calm deminer, there was always something amiss about him. Something that wasn’t quite right about him. Now, you may be asking way this is. To answer that, we must look into his past.
Jin was born into the pride of peregrine sphinxes, born to a lower ranking woman by the name of shinomime anima. She was hysteric at the time of his birth, screaming to kill the newborn cub right there. The midwives helping her couldn’t understand why she would want the child dead; the baby boy was perfectly healthy. The cub had silver and black hair, eyes like her mother and one more thing. A tail split halfway down the tail. “Son of the vamps! Son of evil!!!” The mother screamed, refused to hold her cub at all. The boy had been the result of rape about 7 months before, from her recklessness in battle. She had been captured by the lord of the rival clan, Lord bask of the island of Crete, and conceived a child by him. The midwives, horrified by this, declared the boy a demon. A Halfling was almost never allowed to live among them, but he was a very rare acceptation. They knew the blood that ran though his veins was of power. There was a chance that they would use him.
At the age of 3, the cub had grown much to everyone’s surprise and to the dismay of his mother. The taur-like sphinx was mostly on the quiet side, never one to talk much. The elders were impressed with his growth and survival, praising him for it. Other than that, he was alone. Mothers didn’t let their cubs play with him; some didn’t even acknowledge his presence. This didn’t bother shinomine in the least. She was forced to look after him by the elders, but that didn’t mean she had to take care of him. She mostly ignored the boy, only acknowledging him when she got annoyed with is (in her words) constant whining or irritated by his staring. He would always watch the others walk by unless called by someone. The elders would come to check on him every once in a while, and every time Jin trying to follow them out. It even got to the point of them not even noticing until they found him there the next morning.
This enraged shinomine even more. The fact that she was on guard about it all the time was wearing her out and the kid…that damned half-breed of a kid keeping her down. She started pondering ways to get rid of him. She couldn’t kill the boy, the blood on her hands would stain her reputation, and she couldn’t sell him in the trade. They would find the evidence fairly quickly. She looked out to the sea from her window sill. The half moon overlooking the ocean and just below that, she could see the mainland of Greece jutting up from the sea. An idea plotted itself into her head. She could leave him on the mainland and make it look-like someone kidnapped him. The mainland wasn’t that far a flight for her kind, only about an hour or longer depending on the winds that day. With a sickly sweet smile that screamed for his demise, she went over to the sleeping child and wrapped him in the blanket he was slumbering in and flew out to maritime winds. It didn’t take long for her to get to the beaches of Attica, but the tide was not as welcoming to her. It had receded back into the sea, leaving the beach burin. She shrugged as she placed the boy down on the sand. His hand latched on the blanket he was bundled in. she kneeled beside him with that same caricature of a loving smile as she spread her wings like a scavenger bird.
“Goodbye my damned half-breed. May death come as quickly as life did for you.”
Little did this vixen of the skies know, those words would be burned into his subconscious for life. Death did not come as she would have hoped.
