Username: Superpsyco77

Name: Ophelia Vanessa Dawnsland

Nickname(s): Vanessa(she hates Ophelia, so she opts to use her middle name in its place when introducing herself)

Age: 24

Gender: Female

Race: Gaian Human

Birthplace: The village of Northdale, in the far Northwestern portion of Gaia.

Birthday: 2/17/1863(Gaian age)

Profession: Freelance whatever you might need!

-Physical description-

Height: 5'7

Weight: 156 Lbs.

Hair color: Red(It's more like a dark Orange, but for the sake of clarity she's considered a redhead)

Hair style: Kept at medium length her hair is usually pulled up into a medium ponytail,. She has no bangs.

Eye color: Dark green

Skin tone/condition: Ophelia's skin as a whole is very tan from having previously spent many days working on her parent's farmstead giving her a medium-light Brown coloring. She has no scars to speak of, though her hands are callous from many days both training with her weapons and working with the many tools one finds on a farm. Many small red marks can be found near her lower neck from where the suit of chainmail she wears pinches her neck due to the slightly off sizing of her armor.

Class: Lower/ Middle

Political affiliation: None, Ophelia is a bit too...simple for politics.

-Attire/armor-

Upper body: A low grade mail haubergeon, her suit of mails extends from her shoulders down to her mid-thighs, where it meets up with a more conventional looking pair of leather reinforced leggings. While her haubergeon features partial sleeves this protection ends at the elbows, where it meets up with a pair of brown leather elbow gloves. Her mail is a dull steel gray in color, several spots having had been rusted enough to make her take a wire brush to the mail, leaving small scratches along the front surface if one has a keen enough eye to spot them. The majority of the upper left shoulder area of the mail is distinctly shinier than the rest of the links indicating that the mail there was replaced at least sometime recently, within the last year. This suit of mail weighs in at about 65 pounds. Under this mail is a padded shirt to provided more comfort to Ophelia whilst she moves about and to provide some small padding against crushing blows.

Torso/belt: A plain brown leather belt, used to keep her leggings from falling down and from which to hang her blade from. Attached to this belt is the scabbard for her blade, which hangs at her Left side so as to be easily drawn by her right hand. This scabbard is also made of leather and appears to be the only new item she has with her. The belt rides at about an inch down from her navel and tends to leave an odd mark on her skin where the iron clasp occasionally digs into her skin when she sits down.

Legs: A pair of padded leather pants, brown in color and simple in design, they are meant to be light and offer minimal to no true protection of the legs past where they meet with the skirt of her mail. They do indeed have pockets and are rather loose fitting, allowing her legs to breath.

Feet: A pair of Worn leather boots, they have been with her since she left her parent's farm and will likely continue to travel with her for a good long time. They are worn and rugged, made from supple leather and hide. They feature simple laces that can be undone quickly if need be.

-Weaponry-

Primary weapon: Poleaxe: A 6 foot long pole mounted with an axe blade at the head, the poleaxe was originally designed to defeat heavy plate armor. Ophelia's weapon is slightly taller than she is from the tip of the point on the head to the very base of the pole. At the head of the weapon is very obviously an axe blade of about a foot in length from end to end, but on the reverse side is a 3 inch hook designed to be able to catch the back of an opponent's leg and trip them, thus forcing them to the ground where they could be dealt with more easily. At the tip of the pole is a short dagger like protrusion of around 3 inches also allowing stabbing motions to also be made should they be required. The axe blade is roughly about as thick as an adult human hand would be if it was laying flat in order to keep the weapon light enough to use. The handle is made of oak and was lacquered when made, but this finish has all but faded. In places the wood is rough enough to give one splinters, though nowhere is the wood cracked or splintered to the point of disrepair. The wood is most worn near the lower two feet and the middle of the weapon where one can see the very obvious wear on the locations where Ophelia places her hands in order to swing. Otherwise the axe head has been recently sharpened and all nicks and scratches remove as best as possible.

Secondary weapon: Saber: A heavy cavalry saber usually designed to be used from horseback this weapon is equally useful on foot, where it can be used to deliver heavy slashing blows and lethal puncturing thrusts if one has the skill to use it. Her saber is roughly three feet long from tip to pommel and is plain in design and rather cheap in manufacturing. While the blade is indeed far from a masterwork it is not so fragile that it would break is used in combat, rather, it requires more effort to keep it in good condition. The blade features numerous tiny nicks and scratches, as Ophelia purchased the weapon secondhand, though none of them seem to be bad enough to warrant her taking the weapon to a smith to have removed. The grip is wrapped in worn leather and shows much wear.

-Abilities-

:Innate:
-Strength: Ophelia was born and raised on a farm where she helped her parents work the land with very little machinery to aid them, relying on mostly hand tools and animal labor to get the job done. Couple this with her training and work as a soldier and the workout she gets daily from wearing her armor to get a rather strong young woman. She is capable of lifting objects of at least her weight with relative ease and can push or pull objects at least twice her weight with no assistance and with relatively little effort.

-Stamina: Ophelia is no newcomer to having to march in her armor or work long days in the field, and thus she can continue to push ahead when many others would have to stop and take a break. It takes great exertion to wind her, even when in her armor.

-Professional training: Ophelia received training as a professional soldier and as thus has experience and military knowledge. She has a basic understanding of military procedure and drill, and has been trained to command small units of men if need be. She has also received formal instruction in the use of several pre-modern weapon types including: The poleaxe, long spears, Short swords, light shields(such as a buckler or a targe) and the hand axe.

-Secondary weapons training: Now that Ophelia has started off on her own her style of fighting has begun to alter now that she has had exposure to other types of weapons and styles. A particular weapon that has caught her fancy is the saber, which she believes to be a more 'fitting' weapon for a young lady than a short sword. She also likes the fact that it makes her look more dignified. While her training with this weapon is little she is fairly well self taught and can use her saber with relative skill.

-Persona-

Ophelia is a simple farm girl at heart with naught much more than a dream of going out and making a name for herself in the process of seeing the world. She revels in seeing new places and meeting in new people, and would gladly leave her family and friends if it meant that she could go see some part of the world that she hadn't been to yet. She dotes on little details such as how a place smells or looks at a particular time of day and can often be found out wandering the streets or roads simply because she can rather than doting about in the room of whatever
place she happens to be staying in. This doesn't mean that she has forgotten her family however, as she makes a note to send her family a letter every week, which more often than not include a postcard or a picture of whatever place she sent the mail from. She also has a nigh obsession with foreign and exotic technology and items, mostly due to the fact that again, it is all very new to her.

Other than her desire to see the world Ophelia has a rather straightforward way she sees the world. If she sees someone stealing for example, regardless of the circumstances she would likely turn them over to the authorities if she felt she could apprehend the thief by herself. Her views of right and wrong are very straight forward in this way, and that area of gray in the middle is currently very small. She's not exactly the best with words though and if someone is silver-tongued enough to talk circles around her(a feat easily accomplished) she would more than likely go from confused to frustrated in a short span of time, leading to lapses in judgment.

Thanks to her military training Ophelia also demonstrates a military-esque sense of duty and organization. If called upon by say a friend or a leader she would gladly offer her services and help, especially if it's a cause she feels is worthy. Another albeit less purposely taken trait is her tendency to be well organized, something she simply picked up during her 5 years as a soldier.

In short, to define an entire persona by a few words.

-History-

Born 24 years ago to parents Russel and Beckie Dawnsland Ophelia was the first and only child in her family, despite hopes that the child might have been a boy. Ophelia spent her youth growing up on her farm on the outskirts of the small town of Northdale, which was little more than the regional center where the local farmers went to get supplies and sell their crops. Ophelia received what amounted to a high school education when she wasn't busy helping her parents with the farm they owned and operated, which grew wheat amongst other small crops which went mostly to feeding the family itself. Whilst the farm and the family relied upon no real technology except electrical lighting they were no strangers to technology, nor was the rest of the small community, but it was peaceful enough there without it and everyone was content to live a simple life. On her 18th birthday, as per standard in the community, Ophelia's family was asked to provide a single body for the communities regional defense force. Normally women did not go, as many had son's who were more than willing to volunteer, but Ophelia insisted and immediately traveled to Northdale to begin her training.

Alongside about one hundred of her fellows from the surrounding area, many of whom she knew by name, Ophelia trained to become ready and able should the area come under attack from whatever force would see it harm. While not the best and most shining example Ophelia demonstrated apt form and an eagerness to learn, and while there was no real chance of advancing to a position of high command lest she made the choice of sticking around for her entire lifetime she advanced in rank to that of a Sergeant and Ophelia was allowed to command her fellows much to her own delight. The years went by and Ophelia began to tire of the simple life she had. She enjoyed the drill and the socializing with her mates and the training, but she wanted more. When her fifth year came and it was time for each of the young men and women to make their decisions Ophelia opted to leave, spending much of her pay accrued over of 5 year span to buy her weapons and armor from the town to take with her.

She returned home for a few days to see to her things, taking the time to remove all insignias from her armor and say goodbye to her friends and family. While nobody was shocked to hear that she was leaving as so many young people had, many were saddened to see the young woman go, especially her parents(to whom she writes home to each week to this day). This did no deter her and within a week she was gone, off along the dust road with a poleaxe over her shoulder and a willingness to see it all. This is where her real story begins.

After wandering about for a month or so, seeing new places and meeting new people, the harsh reality of having no job and simply wandering aimlessly beset our young heroine. Having quickly used up her savings and now fairly far from home Ophelia found herself stuck in Aekea, unable to leave due to lack of money. She currently looks for work wherever she can find it, which is mostly working as a sort of bodyguard, though many simply buy her services hoping to get a sort of armed 'escort'. They are very sadly mistaken if they think she does 'that' sort of work.

(more to come as I rp and whatnot)
