Biography: Story of Samuel Penzance
Born and raised in the Torino Kingdom Samuel learned to fight at a young age. Taught by his father he slowly learned the 72 Arts of the Shaolin Temple, which he would need for his time on the island. Almost everyday the tiny village they lived in would be attacked by some of the birds that ‘’ruled’’ the island. Samuel mainly handled the smaller birds, while his father took on the much larger ones. At night him and his father would sneak out to the ocean and work on a boat they were building to escape with the other member of their family, his little sister Shirley.
One day when the two were out hunting in the forest they were ambushed, after fighting for as long as they could Samuel’s father was impaled from behind by one of the birds very sharp beaks. Samuel at the age of seventeen was awestruck that his father had just been struck down. His whole life he saw his father as the strongest man ever, and now he was gone. Samuel went into a rage as he grabbed the bird that killed his father by the beak and started to bend the top and bottom backwards with all his strength until the beak snapped in two. With their leader down the other birds quickly left to report back to their betters.
Using the birds retreat to his advantage Samuel rushed back to his home. He got his sister and made a run to the small boat they had waiting. It wasn’t fully stocked but it was going to have to do. Using what skills he had at controlling a boat he made his way away from the island. His sister made a small plank of wood with a floating candle on it as a farewell to both their father and the wretched island.
The two were adrift for about three weeks before they were found by a navy ship. They brought the two aboard and gave them a space on the ship and back in the town their base was in if Samuel would join the navy. Agreeing to this he joined the navy in order for his sister to have a home. For the next four years he worked and fought for the navy. Although he despised guns he was forced to carry a pistol at all times. During his time as a Marine he was often on the frontlines engaging pirates in open water combat. When the pirates would try to board the ship he would often be on of the first to jump up on their planks and start fighting them as they tried to board. Granted these were low-ranking pirates so it wasn’t really a big deal to him.
One day when he got back from a small fight out on the water he found that his sister had gone missing from their home. Samuel was in shock for a good hour before snapping back to his senses. He tried getting as much information as he could from people around, but no one had really seen anything. He returned to the navy base to report that his sister had gone missing, but was told that they could only keep an eye out and that he was due on duty for a new patrol he refused to go, stating that finding his only blood left was far more important than going after another lowly pirate crew. When his Captain tried to stop him from going by threatening him he answers with a right hook to his jaw. Then being called a traitor he escaped from the base, doing his best to dodge the gunfire being shot at him. He made his way to the docks and stole a small vessel. He would then drift for about two weeks before ending up in Lougetown.
