Making an RP book type thing. If you're interested let me know. Before we begin, however, you'll need to meet the following...
REQUIREMENTS
- You can be mature about conversations. This doesn't mean that you talk about sex and apply about 60 swears to a sentence. This means that you can make things to be less childlike. Childlike characters are welcome into the story, but let's try to keep away from loli-chars.
- You'll need OpenOffice.org on your system. OOo is a free office program. Think Micro$oft Office, but free and still just as good. And if you're in school or work that requires Office documents, you're in luck! Without pirating anything this can be your ticket to free works of your dreams. I use an operating system called Ubuntu, which is not Windows like you are most-likely using. This is a free operating system. Great for everything except games. And even-so, it's a great emulation system. OpenOffice.org comes pre-installed on it. Give it a try one day. You can use Ubuntu on a live-cd without installing it to try it out. You might like it.
- Skype. Skype is a free chat program. This is how we'll send the book to one-another. We can also talk this way. Invite your friends. It's free and fun. You'll find me under the username Zer0_Suii. If you need to just copy and paste my name.
- USA/UK English Literature. I don't need any storys made like you were sending a txt msg 2 ur frendz. Something like the rest of this message. I won't be "Super-Mega Grammar Nazi" toward you, but at least try to type this up as if you were passing English class. You're how old, now? Spell like you are taught your age.
- A big imagination. When we type this let's make this a great story. We'll all plot something together and when it's all said and agreed on we'll fuse our ideas onto each other, taking random bits out (not to say it's stupid, but to make a totem pole of our story from a bit of everything instead of one big creature.)
- Patience. We'll be working on this for a bit.
STORY
- For our first attempt, this story will be a SUPER POWER story. You can have any power from a single group you want from the following list. The list is divided into power and weakness:
- - - BODY - Physically strong, but mentally weak. This does not mean they're dumb, they just can't defend their minds easily.
- - - - - Super strength - The ability to lift and strike 5 times your weight. Also comes with extra defense. Telepathy is Strength's weakness.
- - - - - Super Speed - The ability to run 5 times as fast as someone with your character's structure. Also comes with resistance to chill. Telekinesis is Speed's weakness.
- - - - - Superior Acrobatics - The ability to take long falls without taking too much damage. Also comes with the ability to jump high and swim swiftly. Telekinesis is Acrobatic's weakness.
- - - ELEMENT - Physically weak, but can manipulate their surroundings.
Whoa, boy. This'll be a doozy.
- - - - - Fire: Manipulate fire as long as it's not too windy. Resistant to Earth. Weak to Water and Sky.
- - - - - Water: Manipulate water particles into other watery matter as long as there's moisture in the air. Resistant to Water. Weak to Earth and Ice.
- - - - - Earth: Manipulate ground and plantlife as long as there's soft soil around. Resistant to Sky. Weak to Fire and Ice.
- - - - - Ice: Manipulate particles in the air to be frozen; does not necessarily have to be water. Resistant to Water. Weak to Fire and Sky.
- - - - - Sky: Manipulate wind as long as there's enough area for a windy environment. Resistant to Ice. Weak to Water and Earth.
- - - PSYCHIC - Physically VERY weak, but nearly mentally indestructible.
- - - - - Telepathy: cause disorientation in one's mind. This includes, but it not limited to psychosi, memory manipulation, faking voices in one's head, and fatiguing (slow process). Telepathy is weak to Strength and other Telepathy.
- - - - - Telekinesis: move objects with your mind. This includes, but it not limited to levitating objects, levitating yourself, giving yourself a short bust of speed in any given direction, and mind bullets. Telekinesis is weak to Strength, Telepathy, and other Telekinesis.
- - - - - Chameleon: can become transparent or blend into their surroundings but may NOT become completely invisible. Chameleons still take up mass, so they still cast a shadow. Keep that in mind. Chameleon is weak to Telepathy and Strength.
Whew. Now that that's done, back to the rules.
- Originality. Let's take inspiration from the two stories above, but make our own. No Twilight, unheard-of-comics that happen to have the exact ideas your idea does, and no copying of anything. Inspiration but not clone. Got it?
ENTRY
- Just post a comment in this journal to apply for entry in the book. You will be able to type in it, so don't just think you're submitting your character for me to manipulate. Your comment must consist of
- - - Character name. First and last; middle is optional.
- - - Character age.
- - - Character Bio: A background story for your character that makes them the way they are. This could include how they got their powers.
DEADLINE
- I'll be done taking in people's requests at the end of the month. April Fools Day (April 1st) the story will begin, but take it seriously now. Though April 1st is a day of jokes and lies we really will be starting the book then. After the deadline I'll send a PM to everyone who joined explaining how all of this will work.
UPDATES AND EDITS
- 3/16/10 - Update - Completely forgot to mention we can all use weapons, regardless your class.
- 3/16/10 - Update - We will make this a slideshow so in the end I'll throw all the animations in and every slide will have a picture depicting what's going on. I just think it'd fit nicely. If you submit art, you'll be credited for it and liked more.
- 3/17/10 - Update - I began inviting random members of Gaia to the arena. Random by typing in numbers in the Gaia Profiles URL. Hopefully I'll resurrect some dead accounts and drag some people into the arena. Victims so far:
