So I didn't lie, I posted some writing!! Enjoy!

It was quiet, the only real sound being the wind through the trees and the breathing if the three men on their backs. They were at peace, the moon shining down through the darkened sky, lighting the sienna grass a florescent hue, and reflecting the loose smiles on their faces. The man in the middle, up in his years and sporting a beard, reached for the hands of the two men at his sides, and clasped them like they were his very life. He looked over the man on his left, taller and much younger, and brought his hand up for a kiss on the knuckles. He turned to his other side doing the same for the short, muscular man laying there. They brought matching yellow eyes up to the stars, and as the middle man began to speak, a siren cut through the silence.
Mallory shot up from her bed, sweat dripping off her brow and her sheets tangled around her legs. She turned her attention to her open window, watching the flashing lights of another police chase pass her y. She untangled herself, looking to the small clock her bedside and letting a low moan. It was 4:45. She had been asleep less than three hours, and she was going to be late. She cursed under her breath, racing toward her shower and finding her hot water non-functioning. She screamed her frustration at the ceiling, banging her fist against the wall and stepping into a cold, very short, shower.
She dressed quickly as well, pulling her dreadlocks back into a loose ponytail. She had made it to the door of her studio apartment, before her phone lit up, showing her bosses number. She clucked her tongue behind her teeth before answering in a huff.
“Yes?” It came out sharper then she intended, but she was cranky.
“Lori! Glad I caught you! Listen, DeMora can’t come in today, so you’re running the place till noon alone, you cool with that?” Lori gritted her teeth at the squat man on the other end on the line. This was the third time this week Jesse DeMora had called out, and it was hard enough to run the kitchen with two people.
“Yeah, I’m cool.” She tossed her phone at the bed before leaving. It was already on her nerves.

The walk to work was thankfully uneventful, the streets all but devoid of people so early in the day. She passed a homeless man on the street, and she considered insulting him, but thought better of it. She was already in enough trouble with the police, and the homeless in this part of town tended to be crazy. Lori had always lived in a s**t city, on a s**t block, but this one took the cake. You couldn’t walk ten steps without being robbed or panhandled, and every other building was condemned. There was a strange smell that always permeated the air, like spoiled chocolate. The few trees that were planted along the sidewalk in an effort to beautify the streets were dead, and the rot iron fences strung around them were full of garbage.

The walk to the diner had always been stressful, never knowing if you were going to be mugged putting Lori on edge, and knowing she was working alone just added to her frustration.
